silence.
Still silence.
"ah----!"
Finally, a scream broke the silence.
The people around Sha Diao scrambled away, staring in shock at the person nailed to the wall, their eyes filled with terror as they looked at Shi Yin.
"The supplies here are now unclaimed." Shi Yin withdrew her hand, as if she had just done something insignificant. "What? Besides the leader... is there a second-in-command here?"
No one would dare to come forward and admit that they were the second-in-command; they would rather kneel down and kowtow three times on the spot.
Their eyes were filled with extreme fear as they looked at Shi Yin. If Shi Yin slashed Song Mo's wrist with a knife only to make everyone think that Shi Yin was a rose with thorns, now everyone understood that she was no rose at all.
This is clearly a man-eating plant!
Shi Yin played with the small knife in her hand. No one could tell where she had taken it from. Because of the fear of attracting zombies, the lights in the study room were not on, but the silver knife still made people feel cold in the darkness. With each toss and turn, it tugged at everyone's heartstrings.
"Since you all think that whoever is stronger can protect everyone and will get more supplies, then I'll take all these supplies. That's not too much to ask, is it?" Shi Yin calmly stated this fact.
Those who had been surrounding Sha Diao dared not utter a word; the blood from the corpses beside them was still warm, and no one wanted to become the next victim of his blade.
"Your most important task now is to survive as long as possible. Only by working together can we get rescued." Shi Yin snorted coldly: "I regret to inform you that all the current power and monitoring facilities are complete and still under the control of the state."
"Once the situation is under control, the government will still set up an investigation team. Those who pushed others out to take the fall or intentionally caused harm... think carefully about how you'll defend yourself when you're arrested?"
"I don't think any lawyer would be willing to defend you in court."
The crowd fell silent, exchanging bewildered glances. When a crisis strikes, many people, driven by human nature and selfishness, begin to think about how to get others to take the fall for them. But Shi Yin said there would be a post-war investigation, so wouldn't they be left with nothing to do in a crisis?
Only a few people had a sudden realization and understood the hidden meaning in the words.
The post-war investigation shows that the country has not abandoned this place. As long as they can hold on for these few days, the country will be able to rescue them!
Some clever people noticed something was off about Shi Yin's gaze.
In the midst of this crisis, everyone is in such a panic, yet Shi Yin remains so calm and composed, demonstrating remarkable strength, and is clearly establishing order... Could Shi Yin be someone sent by the government?
Having figured this out, some people who had come to their senses pulled their close friends to sit down and observe the situation.
Seeing that everyone had calmed down, Shi Yin waved her hand, signaling the people holding the supplies to redistribute them.
Shi Yin didn't take anything and sat down by the door.
The more chaotic the situation, the lower the chances of these people surviving.
Although zombies are slow to react, they are quite sensitive to blood. After all, they rely on flesh and blood to maintain their vitality, and when they are extremely hungry, they will have an instinctive frenzy for flesh and blood.
Blood is covered by skin and flesh, and as long as the body is not injured, a pungent smell, similar to perfume or even tobacco, can mask a person's scent.
However, if infighting really breaks out and humans kill each other, the sight of blood will be a delicious aroma to the starving zombies, and no one will survive.
Moreover, as long as they are not berserkers or manipulators, while primal zombies pose a great threat to ordinary people, they are not insurmountable.
The buildings in this school are not shoddy constructions; they can definitely stop zombies. Even if the dormitory windows are smashed, as long as you have a steel pipe, you can still puncture any zombies that peek out.
The biggest problem is who keeps watch at night, which is very energy-consuming. People will instinctively be afraid and lose their composure when they see unknown monsters.
The doors and windows of the library and study rooms here are intact, to the point that even a berserker would have a hard time breaking them down easily.
Most importantly, once the berserker chooses to ram the door, it will create a lot of noise. The loud noise will attract zombies to the berserker, making other places relatively safe.
Zombies don't think!
Those who remain here can easily bypass the large groups of zombies by slipping out through the windows or small doors on the other side, making it much easier to run out and seek help.
"What kind of lawyers are these? What kind of courts are these? This country is doomed."
The soft murmur was not loud, but it was exceptionally clear in the quiet darkness.
Shi Yin paused, then calmly looked at the group of boys in the corner, her expression inscrutable.
Perhaps because Shi Yin had acted too aggressively before, even though Shi Yin wasn't glaring at them now, the boy who had spoken was still startled and trembled, not daring to utter another sound.
"Tch, what can't be said? This country is probably in a complete mess. Court lawyer? How could you even say that?" Song Mo felt he had been humiliated, as his underling was rendered speechless by Shi Yin's stare.
Sha Diao was his elder brother, and Sha Bi was a coward. If he wasn't afraid of being killed by Shi Yin in a bad mood, he would have jumped out and declared himself the second-in-command.
“We’ve been here for so long, have you seen a single soldier?” Song Mo felt a chill run down his spine from Shi Yin’s gaze: “You can’t kill me. My family is rich and powerful. Once we organize our forces, we’ll be very powerful. You’re just one person; you can’t fight against an entire family.”
Shi Yin frowned, not because she was truly speechless, but because after thinking for a long time she couldn't figure out what kind of influence a family with the surname Song could have.
"So, you expect the country to do everything in its power to protect you from the slightest harm?" Shi Yin's voice was a little cold: "Your expectations of us are far too high."
"Isn't this just common sense? Otherwise, I might as well go to another country." Song Mo blushed and immediately retorted, "Zombies all have crystal cores. Have you ever thought that if we collect and absorb these crystal cores, we could become very powerful too?"
"...Yinyin, can ordinary people use this thing?" Jiang Ning asked in confusion.
"No, not at all." Shi Yin shrugged. "Besides, crystal cores smell better than people, and zombies love to eat crystal cores too."
Jiang Ning: "..."
Did Song Mo know what he was saying?
"Are you serious? Going abroad?" A young man nearby spoke up timidly. He looked like a freshman in college, with a youthful face. "I can't contact my relatives abroad anymore, and their internet is down."
Jiang Ning and the others looked at Shi Yin, who shrugged and remained noncommittal.
The overseas areas that have fallen are quite large, and many base stations and signal towers have been basically destroyed. Even though the other four knights have organized survivors in their respective countries to expand the shelters, it will still take some time to maintain those basic facilities.
After all, things are different abroad than at home; the word "obedience" alone is enough to give some superiors a headache.
“No gift is given without reason, and no departure is made on a whim. The country’s willingness to protect everyone doesn’t mean you have to become spoiled brats.” Cheng Sui couldn’t help but retort, “You can take care of yourself for a few days, right? How do you know the country won’t send someone?”
"Tch, who knows if things are already in complete chaos outside. If you ask me, you should all try to curry favor with me." Song Mo patted his chest smugly: "My dad will be sending a helicopter to pick me up soon. You'll all be envious then."
Shi Yin: "?"
Who sends the helicopter to pick up whom?
The fish jumped into the basket before the fishing rod was even lowered into the water.
