Even with a miniature thermostat, walking through such hot weather would leave you drenched in sweat.
The weather is unbearably hot right now. Even with the thermostat working hard, it can only keep the surrounding body temperature around 35°C. Only when the speedboat enters the room and several large air conditioners work together can you feel a comfortable temperature.
When the cold weather came before, everyone felt that it would be better if the weather were warmer. Now that the weather is unbearably hot, everyone is missing the cold weather.
If you can't afford a professional thermostat, you'll get sunburned in no time if you walk outside.
This is under the shade; if you were standing in the sun, your skin would be visibly charred black, and smoke would be rising from it.
"Huh? Nanzhu? Why are you only coming back so late?"
Nan Zhu was rushing to the temporary office area of the W safe zone when he unexpectedly bumped into Bei Qingchuan at three or four in the morning.
"Can't sleep? Go for a walk to clear your head." Nan Zhu stopped without saying a word.
When it comes to lying, Nan Zhu is no less capable than Guan Nianshan.
Guan Nianshan lies effortlessly, and you can never tell whether he is telling the truth or a lie. Even in casual conversation, Guan Nianshan's words are a mixture of truth and falsehood.
Nan Zhu, on the other hand, would lie when necessary, his expression, heartbeat, and even speech speed revealing no flaws. Because he was usually honest and reliable, Nan Zhu actually seemed trustworthy.
"Is that so?" Kita Kiyokawa nodded without saying anything.
"Aren't you resting so late?" Nan Zhu wondered why Bei Qingchuan was here.
After all, Kita Qingchuan has always had a regular schedule, so for him to be here at three or four in the morning is, in a way, a miracle.
"Yes, I'm just about to go up." Kitakami Kawai smiled and pointed to an inconspicuous, dark red little flower under the eaves: "I want to see if it can survive in the shade outdoors."
In this hot weather, the chances of survival are too small.
Nan Zhu looked at the inconspicuous little flower on the ground. At first glance, the flower looked a bit like a daisy, but it was dark red all over and emitted a strange fragrance, somewhat like chocolate.
Chocolate cosmos? Where did Kita Kiyokawa get it from?
Nan Zhu glanced casually at Bei Qingchuan. He wasn't dressed neatly; his clothes were a bit wrinkled, and his hands were covered in mud. It seemed he wasn't lying; this meeting must have been a coincidence.
The more you say, the more mistakes you make. Without further communication, Nanzhu turned and went upstairs.
Kitakami stayed downstairs for a while, and soon went upstairs as well. However, he did not go back to his room. Instead, after making sure that no one was around, he turned around and pushed open the door to the commander-in-chief's temporary office.
"Commander-in-Chief, you wanted to see me?" Kita Kiyokawa closed the door, making sure no one was eavesdropping outside, before stepping forward.
"Sit down." The commander gestured to the chair opposite him. There was a mirror on the table, angled rather strangely. "What do you think of Nanzhu?"
Kita Kiyokawa was surprised that the Prime Minister asked such a direct question, and for a moment he couldn't think of a good answer.
"I just don't have strong superpowers." The leader looked at Bei Qingchuan, poured a glass of water and pushed it towards him: "You and I are still ten or twenty years apart."
"No, no, let me do it." Bei Qingchuan was flattered and dared not take the cup. He quickly took the teapot and poured tea for the chief.
“Bei Qingchuan, since I’ve called you here alone, let’s skip the formalities between us. We’re all on the same side.” The commander stopped Bei Qingchuan’s actions: “Logically speaking, you and Shi Yin haven’t known each other for very long, but right now I can only ask you.”
"Me?" Kita Kiyokawa hesitated.
“Actually, we could have looked for Gu Changge, but as you know, she’s been out of contact ever since that meeting.” The General frowned slightly. “Not to mention Lin Beiyue and Ye Shaoheng are both in the capital, they’re too naive. The leader is alright, but when it comes to playing mind games, the two of them are no match for Nan Zhu alone.”
Bei Qingchuan: "..."
“I know he’s been a friend of yours for many years, but if he wants to cover for him, then pretend you were never here tonight.” The commander went straight to the point: “What do you think of Nan Zhu?”
“…Nanzhu is definitely acting strangely tonight.” After a long silence, Bei Qingchuan finally spoke, but this time, his expression was much calmer.
"Tell me." The commander-in-chief's brows relaxed; it was a good thing that Kitakami Kiyokawa was clear-headed.
Actually, the Commander-in-Chief was just about to say that he originally wanted to groom Qin Jin, but Shi Yin sacrificed herself without telling anyone beforehand, and as for Nan Zhu…
The Commander-in-Chief was having a bit of a headache, wavering on whether or not he should trust Nan Zhu.
These people, one after another, have plans but don't tell anyone, each doing their own thing, yet they expect their teammates to have a tacit understanding of each other's minds. Is there a real person mixed in with this fake stuff?
You can't gamble every time, can you?
“Nan Zhu has been acting strangely lately. I went down with him today, and despite his vigilance, he didn’t even notice me.” Bei Qingchuan carefully recalled the events of yesterday afternoon: “He’s a genius. He studied reconnaissance and counter-reconnaissance in the Special Police Department, while I’m just an ordinary person.”
This already shows that Nan Zhu was restless.
“I waited downstairs all night. Although it was very hot, the temperature difference between day and night was still quite large. If he looked closely, he would have noticed that there was dew on my body.” Kita Kiyokawa continued, “But when I said that I came downstairs to plant flowers because I couldn’t sleep, he actually believed me.”
“Although there was dirt on my fingers, my fingernails were clean. I was in a bit of a hurry to cover it up when I found out he was back,” Kita Kiyokawa added. “Besides… I don’t think anyone would come down to plant flowers wearing a long overcoat like me.”
Therefore, although Nan Zhu appears calm on the surface, as if nothing has happened, his heart is actually in turmoil.
Is he panicking, or is he feeling guilty?
"If it were you, what would you do?" the Consul General asked again.
“I… don’t really want to treat him as an enemy right now.” Kita Kiyokawa lowered his eyes: “Perhaps he has something to hide, but rationally speaking, I would probably make the same choice.”
"After all, even if Nanzhu is a real undercover agent, there's no need to clean up the mess so thoroughly. Cleaning it up too much might cause a premature falling out with Arrogance, which wouldn't be good for us right now." Bei Qingchuan took a deep breath, and it was clear that he was in a bad mood.
"Are there any other reasons?" the Consul General continued to ask.
“Well… I do have a bit of a selfish reason.” Kitakami paused. “I trust Tokine.”
If it's someone Tokine trusts, then they are trustworthy; if it's someone Tokine allows, then she has her reasons.
“That’s a good answer.” The commander-in-chief sighed. “Bei Qingchuan, what do you think of my position?”
