Freya was dragged out by Nanzhu. If this weren't Shiyin's house, Freya would have jumped up and fought with Nanzhu, afraid of damaging the place.
"What are you doing? Are you really leaving?" Freya shook off Nanzhu's hand only after they came out: "Can't you see? That Lucifer clone was evenly matched with my sister. Now that my sister is so weak, even if she rests for a day, she will still die when facing Lucifer."
“Miss will come looking for us.” Nan Zhu’s words silenced Freya. “Do you think we’ll stay here forever?”
Freya: "..."
“If we don’t wait for Miss to come looking for us, one of us will die, and our original world might be disrupted and fall into crisis because of the plan.” Nan Zhu said seriously, “You should understand our importance in our original world.”
"Nan Zhu, I hate your rational side." Freya took a step back, staring coldly at Nan Zhu: "A sister is a sister, and no matter what, I will not leave her alone."
Nan Zhu: "They are not one person."
"They are!" Freya felt a cool sensation on her cheeks, which were covered in tears.
She didn't know why she was crying, but she just felt wronged, wronged for herself, and wronged for Shi Yin.
“Nanzhu, your current sense of entitlement is all built on your sister, on Shiyin.” Freya pointed in the direction behind her: “They are the same person.”
"I will never let my sister die again, it's the same for every sister." Freya said, and was about to run back when Nanzhu grabbed her.
"Have you forgotten that Miss ordered us to protect the shelter? Freya, I'm not acting rationally; I'm just obeying her orders." Nan Zhu frowned. "If she can't protect these people, she'll just commit suicide and start over again. Don't you understand why Shi Yin has been reborn so many times?"
Because she was never satisfied.
Nan Zhu: "Moreover, what Miss just said wasn't just for me, but also for you. The apocalypse has made all of us dependent on Shi Yin, and this feeling will..."
Freya looked calmly at Nanzhu: "Back in the alternate dimension, before we came to this world, you said you resonated with me, which actually surprised me."
“You say my superpower is too emotional for you to use, but in reality, you can’t resonate with me at all, nor can you use my power—not even a little bit!” Freya stared into Nanzhu’s eyes: “Do you know what my superpower is?”
Nan Zhu's heart skipped a beat, as if he had realized something.
"My special ability is love." Freya clutched her heart, closed her eyes, and silently felt it: "When I was buried under the ruins, the first person I saw was my sister. We had similar auras, and the special qualities in my sister and I resonated with each other."
“I shouldn’t have superpowers. I should have been a pure zombie. But my sister’s resonance with me gave me superpowers.” Freya’s voice was very soft: “My sister blocked out her emotions. She couldn’t be controlled by emotions and could only make rational choices. But her emotions were too abundant, surrounding her.”
"So, I took her feelings, I became her feelings, I became a part of her, and love arose from that. None of you are sure what your feelings are for your sister, but I am sure that I have the purest love."
"So, Nan Zhu, why can you resonate with my powers?" Freya's voice was cold: "You just like it."
“But it doesn’t matter, I won’t give her to you.” Freya turned around: “But you’re right, I should go protect the shelter first, and then go find her after my sister fights Lucifer.”
After saying that, Freya left on her own, leaving Nanzhu standing there in silence.
The calm lasted for half a day.
Nothing happened during that half-day.
The sky was filled with drifting clouds, and the shelter remained a windless place. Occasionally, one could see large, wandering zombies dragging their slow steps past in the distance.
It wasn't until the lookout spotted the first wave of charging berserkers that the storm began.
Fortunately, they had received warnings from Freya and Nanzhu beforehand, and armed themselves with all the weapons they had, they went to their respective posts.
They were indeed running low on food and supplies, but their weapons were plentiful. To fight off the zombies, all their weapons were very advanced, including various long guns and short cannons.
It was also because for a period of time, humanity was overly focused on the development of weapons. Although our military strength increased, by the time we realized it, food had already become scarce.
The deafening roar of artillery fire and the smoke of battle spread around the area, preventing the dense army of zombies from getting close to the shelter for the time being.
Those who survived were the strongest of the strong, each of them having trained themselves into top-notch soldiers. Several people with sniper rifles stood on the rooftop, and any flying or jumping zombies that got close were shot in the head before they even landed.
Of the more than two hundred people, there were more than twenty people with superpowers. Apart from three people with healing abilities and two people with water abilities, the other dozen or so people with offensive abilities did not rush into the zombie horde to kill the zombies. Instead, they surrounded the shelter and only went forward to clean up any that had escaped.
Hold the line and never advance rashly.
All sorts of shells and gunpowder were thrown out as if they were free, while the children, unable to fight, repeatedly ran to the warehouse to bring up weapons.
"Hold on, everyone hold on!" Old Tang took out a big flag and planted it on the roof. The bright red flag was burning and inspiring.
"Shiyin said to wait for her! Once that monster comes out, Shiyin will kill that little brat, and the apocalypse will be over. We'll be able to see the blue sky again!!!"
This encouragement is incredibly powerful; a hundred words of encouragement are not as effective as the phrase "The end times are coming to an end."
If it's a bedtime story, the adults in those storybooks make grand promises that even a six-year-old wouldn't believe. But if you hear it's Shion saying it, even the most pessimistic person will start to believe it to some extent.
This place is clearly windless, and those exploring the area haven't felt the wind for a long time.
But perhaps today is truly different. A wind has actually begun to blow across this barren land, and even the flags planted on the rooftops are no longer drooping but fluttering in the wind, revealing the vibrant gold within them.
Freya and Nanzhu hadn't expected that these two hundred-odd people could actually hold out for a day.
There were too many high-level zombies. Some of them were so powerful that even the two of them were sweating with fear when they saw them. The zombies were so numerous that they were overwhelming. They killed wave after wave, but it seemed like there would never be an end to it.
However, these people persevered, and many more were ordinary people who, with sheer willpower, accomplished things they never expected.
Finally, a crack appeared in the sky, and the red moon was right in the center of the crack, like a terrifying eye, staring straight down at the people in the shelter.
Before the Red Moon, Lucifer finally lost his patience and appeared.
