Chapter 289 Enthusiastic Aunt Wu

"You guys sit down for a while, I'll go next door and be back soon!"

Aunt Wu was very happy to see that Su Keke and the others were willing to stay. She lifted the door curtain of the yurt and planned to go to Yueqin's house next door to borrow some rice and flour to make a decent lunch.

"Aunt, wait a minute! Grandma and I still have some food in our backpacks, which should be enough for us."

When Su Keke just came in, she heard Xiao Ye asking her mother if she had borrowed rice.

As soon as she saw Aunt Wu going out to borrow rice, she quickly took a bag of rice and a bag of flour from her backpack.

It was written on the bags that they were all packed in five-jin bags. The rice and flour that Su Keke had bought from Brother Tian’s secret warehouse last time were packed in these small bags. Now they were just the right size to take out of her backpack.

Su Keke emptied her own backpack and then took Grandma Qiao's backpack.

Borrowing Grandma Qiao's backpack, she took out a few packages of cooked food from the space, including soy sauce duck legs, braised chicken wings, soy sauce pork elbows, and soy sauce pig's trotters.

Aunt Wu was standing on the side of the door curtain, and she was stunned when she saw Su Keke taking out so many things from the two people's backpacks like a magic trick. She wondered how these two people's backpacks could hold so many things.

"No, no! You guys will need to eat on the way, I'll go borrow some rice from next door, it'll be quick!"

Aunt Wu had just felt bad about accepting two bags of snowflake crisps from Su Keke and the others. Now that she was asked to take these things again, she refused to agree at all.

"Big sister! We came here by car, and we have some supplies in the car. Just take these things and make something for the kids. I'll help you cook."

Grandma Qiao stood up and pulled Aunt Wu, who was in a hurry to go out, back.

Aunt Wu looked embarrassed. She still felt that she couldn't take Su Keke and the others' things. It was not easy for anyone now because of the natural disaster.

Seeing that Aunt Wu was still hesitant, Su Keke said, "Aunt, if you don't accept these things, grandma and I will be embarrassed to eat at your place. If you don't want them, we will leave."

You know what, Su Keke’s trick really worked.

When Aunt Wu saw Su Keke and Grandma Qiao get up to leave, she had to agree out of anxiety.

Su Keke and the other girl happily stayed to help Aunt Wu prepare lunch.

Grandma Qiao has rolled up her sleeves and started to scoop rice to prepare for steaming. Su Keke also rushed to help Aunt Wu light the fire.

Aunt Wu saw that Su Keke had already helped add firewood to the stove, so she started kneading the dough herself. She wanted to make vegetable pancakes for Su Keke and the others at noon.

After she quickly kneaded the dough, she found that all the vegetables in the house had been taken away, so she thought about going out to borrow some from the next door. However, when she left the yurt, she found wild vegetables in the flowerpot at her door.

This kind of wild vegetable tastes a bit sweet. After the extreme cold last year, when all the food stored at home was eaten up, their village had to rely on this wild vegetable from the mountains to fill their stomachs.

Later, the weather gradually returned to normal and everyone started to grow crops. Aunt Wu thought this wild vegetable was delicious, so she picked a few and planted them in the flowerpots in front of her house.

"I actually forgot about you guys!"

Aunt Wu scratched her head with a smile, grabbed a few handfuls of wild vegetables from the small flowerpot and returned to the yurt.

She smiled happily as she took out a basin and poured some water to wash the wild vegetables. She had never expected that the few wild vegetables she had casually planted would be put to good use today.

It was quite fast for three people to cook together. In less than half an hour, they had prepared today’s lunch.

Aunt Wu brought all the wild vegetable pancakes she had fried and the rice steamed by Grandma Qiao to the round wooden table where the family usually ate.

Su Keke asked Aunt Wu to bring a few plates and poured the sauced duck legs and braised chicken wings onto the plates.

The big elbows and pig's trotters need to be cut, otherwise one or two will not be enough for so many people to eat.

She did have a lot of space, but her and Grandma Qiao's backpacks were only this big, and it would not be normal to take out so many things at once.

After Su Keke and Grandma Qiao were seated, Aunt Wu called her two daughters over to eat.

The two children had just eaten snowflake crisps, so they were no longer hungry. However, when they saw so many delicious dishes, they couldn't help swallowing their saliva.

"Come, have a duck leg first. I want to tell you that this duck leg is delicious."

Su Keke put a big duck leg in each of the two sisters' bowls. This duck leg in sauce was really delicious. When she was craving for it, she would take it out from the space and nibble on it. It tasted really good.

"Hurry up and thank your sister!" Aunt Wu said to her two daughters with a smile.

The weather has improved this year, and the harvest on the grassland has been good, so people can occasionally eat beef and mutton.

But this good time didn't last long. A group of bandits from the Sakura Country suddenly appeared out of nowhere and broke the originally peaceful days of the grassland.

"Thank you...thank you, sister!" the two little girls said while gnawing on the duck legs.

Su Keke also held up a big duck leg and said to Aunt Wu, "Aunt, please don't let the children thank you all the time. If you really want to thank us, then we should thank you too! You treated us to milk tea, let us rest our feet, and even let us have a meal."

"Look at what you said, kid. This is not freeloading. No one brings their own food to get a free meal. It's obviously us who got lucky."

Aunt Wu added a wild vegetable cake to Su Keke's bowl, her face full of smiles.

"Then let's not talk about anything else, let's eat together. As the saying goes, food is the most important thing for people, so the most important thing is to fill our stomachs first!"

"Yes, yes! Eat, eat!"

After hearing what Grandma Qiao said, the three adults all burst into laughter. As for the two children, their mouths were already full of grease from chewing the duck legs.

While Su Keke and the others were eating, the herdsmen who had gone to the back mountain to hide things came back one after another.

"Xiao Feiniu and his son are really good at finding a place!"

"Yes, yes! That place is indeed hidden. Those Sakura people would never have thought that we would hide supplies in the mountains."

"I'll go home to eat first, and then after lunch I'll carry up the bags of rice I hid at home. Today I dug a hole in the grass to bury it temporarily, because I was afraid that they would find it."

Su Keke and Grandma Qiao heard some people talking outside, so they casually asked Aunt Wu what was going on.

"Oh!" Aunt Wu sighed first, and then slowly told Su Keke and the others everything about the bandits in Sakura Country.

Until the end, he kept reminding Su Keke and Grandma Qiao to be careful and never encounter these robbers.

"These people actually dared to come to our Huaxia country to bully others. We really gave them face."

Su Keke was so angry that she wanted to slam the table. It turned out that the people of Sakura Country are not good people at heart.

"There's nothing we can do. The government is far away, and there's an earthquake outside, so they can't do anything about it. We're in a remote area, so there are usually very few people coming here. I don't know how those Sakura people found this place, alas!"

Aunt Wu sighed as she spoke, and later she felt that it was not good to complain to Su Keke and the others, so she changed the topic to eating.

"Xiao Su, your pork elbow is so delicious!"

"Aunt, your pancakes are delicious too! Look, grandma and I each ate two!"

"Then I'll make you some pancakes later so you can eat them on the way!"
