Chapter 368 Waiting for Treatment

Suddenly, there was a gunshot. Everyone at the hospital entrance was so scared that they dared not make a sound. They quickly covered their heads and squatted down.

Wanying was also frightened by the sudden gunshot and hugged Su Keke beside her.

"Stop arguing! Anyone who makes more noise will be taken away immediately! Lock him up in the police station for a few days first!"

A middle-aged police officer was standing at the entrance of the hospital. Seeing that the situation at the gate was out of control, he drew his gun and fired a shot into the air.

It was because of this shot that the people at the gate no longer dared to make a noise and insisted on rushing into the hospital.

"Everyone, bring your patients and line up here! Once the tents are set up, beds will be arranged in priority order!"

After the middle-aged police officer spoke, everyone at the door lined up obediently. Su Keke and the others quickly pushed their carts and lined up in the crowd where the police officer pointed.

Since there were police officers maintaining order on the side, others did not dare to force their way to the front, so the positions occupied by Su Keke and her companions were pretty good, and were estimated to be in the top 50 of the team.

As soon as everyone lined up, several staff members in electrician uniforms came running over. They quickly installed electric lamps within a range of about 100 meters from the hospital gate.

Only a dozen minutes passed and all the lights in this row were installed.

With the electric lights, the entrance of the hospital suddenly became much brighter. The policemen wearing headlamps and setting up medical tents saw that the surroundings suddenly became bright, and their hands moved much faster.

Su Keke and a few others waited in line until after five o'clock before it was finally their turn to take the patient to the tent.

There were six beds in each medical tent. Su Keke and her three patients were lying on the three beds in the right row, while the three beds in the left row were occupied by other patients.

Chen Lu, Su Keke and others carried Chen Shuang, Kendin and Fei Xun to the hospital bed.

"Huh! It's finally arranged!" Wanying took a deep breath, and everyone else also breathed a sigh of relief.

Unexpectedly, more than ten minutes passed and the doctor who was supposed to treat the patient still did not arrive.

Chen Lu was so anxious that she ran to the hospital gate and asked the middle-aged police officer in charge, and the answer she got was to let them wait.

He said that there are only so many doctors and nurses in the hospital, and they are working around the clock. They said that once the patients inside have been treated, they will be arranged to be placed in the tent at the entrance.

"How long do we have to wait? What if something happens to the patient if we delay for too long?"

Chen Lu continued to ask.

"I don't know if you ask me here. This is the current situation in the hospital. If you can't wait, send the patient to the hospital in the next town."

The middle-aged police officer has a serious face. Apart from maintaining order, he basically ignores you on other matters.

Chen Lu had no choice but to walk towards her tent with her head down. She was very dissatisfied with the police officer who was talking without any hesitation.

It sounded easy for him to say, but how could one get people to the next town in such heavy fog?

"How is it?" As soon as Chen Lu entered the tent, Leah, Wanying, and even the family members of the patient in the left bed came over and asked anxiously.

"They told us to wait until all the patients in the hospital were seen before it was our turn at the door."

Chen Lu looked unhappy but could only say helplessly.

"There are so many people inside. It won't be midnight until our turn."

Leah's face was full of resentment. She turned around and looked at Kendin on the bed. His face seemed even paler.

"There's nothing we can do! We can only wait!" Chen Lu sat back down beside Chen Shuang's bed, and felt very uncomfortable as she watched her sister's breathing becoming weaker and weaker.

The same went for the family members of the patient in the third bed on the left. When they heard that they had to wait longer, they were so angry that they gnashed their teeth. However, no one had any better solution.

"Then you guys wait here first. Grandma Qiao and I will find a place to put these carts. They will take up space in the tent. I guess we'll have to tell them when the doctors and nurses come."

Su Keke winked at Grandma Qiao, meaning to ask her to go out with her.

"Then you guys better be careful!" Chen Lu and Wanying said at the same time.

"Got it!" Su Keke waved at them, then walked out of the tent pulling a cart with one hand. Grandma Qiao also quickly followed behind pushing a cart.

Unexpectedly, as soon as they came out of the tent, Chen Lu hurriedly ran out. She called Su Keke and gave her a key to the door of the B&B.

"Su Keke! Grandma Qiao! I won't say thank you. We are the only ones guarding the hospital now. I know your abilities. It shouldn't be a problem to get back to the B&B in the fog."

"You've been helping us escort people for most of the day and you're exhausted. Go back and have a rest! I'll treat you to dinner later!"

Su Keke and Grandma Qiao were quite surprised when they heard what Chen Lu said.

Su Keke actually didn’t care whether she went back to the B&B or not, because she had her own space and could rest anytime and anywhere.

However, Su Keke and the others were still very pleased that Chen Lu had such kindness, and it was not a thankless task to help.

Su Keke smiled and patted Chen Lu's shoulder. "I'll go get you something to eat. Wait for the doctor to come and see you. If there's nothing wrong, we'll go back."

"Where are you going to get food here? The hospital cafeteria must only have meals for doctors and nurses."

"I heard that since the heavy fog, the patients' meals in the hospital have to be prepared by their families."

Chen Lu said with a frown.

They left in such a hurry that they didn't bring any food or toiletries. Now there is really no place to find them, unless they go through the fog and go back to the hostel to get them.

"Sister Lu, don't worry! Let me and Grandma Qiao figure out a way to deal with these. Go back to the tent now!"

After Su Keke finished speaking, she pushed the cart outside.

There were still many people queuing at the hospital gate, but with more than a dozen police officers maintaining order, the situation was much better than before.

Su Keke and Grandma Qiao avoided the queue and pushed the shopping cart to a place without lights.

It was not until the two of them slowly walked into the thick fog 100 meters away from the hospital that Su Ke saw that there was no one around, so she and Grandma Qiao and the cart slipped into the space.

"I'm a little tired! No, I need to lie down for a while!"

As soon as Su Keke entered the space, she lay down on the sofa in the living room and didn't want to move at all.

She has been lying down recently, and it has been a long time since she last exercised.

"What do you want to eat tonight? I'll go to the kitchen and make it for you!" Grandma Qiao looked at Su Keke and asked with a smile.

"Grandma Qiao, don't you want to take a break? Aren't you tired after walking so far?"

Su Keke looked at Grandma Qiao, who was full of energy, and found it incredible.

"Not bad! I used to run about this distance every day! Even now, I run on the treadmill for half an hour every day."

"Who told you to be so lazy, all you do is eat and not exercise? I tell you, it's because you're young and your metabolism is fast. If you wait until you're a little older and try lying still, you'll definitely become a fat man!"

After hearing what Grandma Qiao said, Su Keke quickly jumped up from the sofa.

"Then I won't lie down either! Grandma Qiao, I'll help you cook!"
