Chapter 23 Gray Mist

Before Tian Luwen finished speaking, the sound of bronze bells was heard again from Jiufeng Mountain, and then several fireballs with long tails appeared in the sky and fell into Jiufeng Mountain and the more distant Zhongtiao Mountain.

“That’s really accurate.”

Lu Tian came out of the courtyard and ran quickly towards Jiufeng Mountain because he found that a meteorite was crashing near Chunyang Cave and he wanted to find out what was going on.

While running on the road, Lu Tian found that there were already many people on the way to Jiufeng Mountain. Some of them were walking silently, with their eyes closed, muttering to themselves.

Some knelt on the ground, clasped their hands together, and prayed devoutly.

Some people even bowed their heads with each step and moved slowly forward.

Some of these people were old men with white hair and staggering bodies, some were handsome and strong young men, there were male Taoist priests, and a few Taoist nuns. All of them had solemn expressions, and their eyes were filled with awe as they stared at the direction of Jiufeng Mountain and Chunyang Palace.

These people should be the practitioners of Xuanjiao who came from all over the place to make pilgrimages!

They seemed to have entered a certain state, oblivious to the people around them. Lu Tian's running did not affect them at all, as if he did not see him.

Lu Tian kept running and appeared at the foot of Jiufeng Mountain in less than half an hour. Even after such an intense run, he was only slightly out of breath and a thin layer of sweat appeared on his forehead.

Since being transformed by the spring water, Lu Tian's body has become extremely strong, far beyond the range of normal people. He now runs as fast as a cheetah. He has specially measured his 100-meter sprint time, which is 5.01, much faster than the world record.

Chunyang Palace is located at the foot of Jiufeng Mountain. It is huge in scale and solemn and majestic. In front of the main hall is a burning stone lamp. The blazing flames rise into the sky, and the area within a thousand meters is as bright as day under its illumination. Around the stone lamp, there are densely packed Taoist believers, young and old, no less than a thousand people.

These people were all meditating with their eyes closed. The purpose of Lu Tian's trip was not here, but the hidden cave in the back mountain of Chunyang Cave above Chunyang Palace.

He left quietly, bypassed Chunyang Palace, and came to the back mountain of Jiufeng Mountain. Relying on the terrain in his mind, he continued to climb up the rugged and steep mountain road.

The back mountain has not been developed. The mountain road is full of rugged rocks and cliffs. It is rarely visited by people and looks very desolate. It is late winter now, the weather is cold, the rocks are smooth and steep, and it is difficult for ordinary people to climb.

Lu Tian's body had been transformed by the spring water, but even so, after climbing for a while, he was exhausted and breathless. At this moment, Lu Tian began to doubt whether the Pure Yang Sword God had really been a recent college graduate when he discovered Lu Zu's handwritten notes, or just an ordinary person. Even a national-level athlete couldn't match his current physique. Even climbing from the back mountain was a struggle, and for an ordinary person, it would be even more impossible.

Could it be that the Pure Yang Sword God was lying, and the place where Lu Zu practiced in seclusion was not here at all, or the Pure Yang Sword God at that time was not an ordinary person at all, just like many business tycoons today glorify themselves by saying that they started from scratch to reflect the hardships of starting a business and to highlight their wisdom and bravery.

Forget it, since I'm here, I might as well make the best of it. No matter which one it is, since I'm here, I have to go and see it. lest I leave any regrets.

Lu Tian put aside his doubts and continued to jump over the gravel in front of him. He grabbed a vine and flew over a stream about two meters wide.

During the climb, he found many traces of meteorite falls. Deep pits of varying sizes appeared at the fall sites. There was no grass growing around the pits, and the ground was charred. The century-old trees that fell to the ground nearby were left with only charred trunks.

Some of the meteorites have cooled down and are no different from ordinary rocks. The only difference is the mess around them.

However, Lu Tian knew that these meteorites were harmless to humans and animals now, but when the end of the world comes, they will break out an unknown virus that will wreak havoc on the entire world, infecting the land, plants and all other living creatures and survival resources.

In addition to these silent meteorites, there are some meteorites that have left a gray mist after falling, covering the deep pits. The gray mist seems to be still, it just moves in the deep pits and does not overflow at all. However, the scenic area staff still set up a cordon around these deep pits and placed signs saying "Danger, do not approach."

Lu Tian didn't know much about the gray mist. He only knew that the gray mist contained infinite dangers, and that the gray mist could be good or bad.

In the end times, many people awaken their special powers and mutate and become stronger because of some gray mist, but some gray mist contains unknown viruses. After being infected, they turn into unconscious monsters, which are called orcs.

However, the gray mist has not yet erupted. As long as you do not actively approach the gray mist, you will not be infected and there is no danger for the time being.

Lu Tian continued to climb upwards and was already approaching the halfway point of the mountain, almost reaching the place where Lu Zu really practiced in seclusion. However, everything was unknown now, and Lu Tian was not sure about the authenticity of the events recorded in the Record of the God of War of the End Times.

As they approached their destination, Lu Tian's eyes suddenly narrowed. A deep pit appeared in front of him. The pit was filled with gray mist and hot air waves. This deep pit should have been newly formed and might be the meteorite he had just discovered.

Although his vision wasn't clairvoyant, he could already discern the lines and veins of leaves from ten miles away. If it weren't for the hazy night, he could have easily seen the location of the meteorite's fall.

However, these were not the reasons that frightened him, but the messy and huge footprints that appeared around the deep pit.

"Someone was just infected by the gray mist and mutated. Judging from the shape of the footprints, they must have mutated into a wild orc."

Lu Tian cautiously checked his surroundings. It was completely silent, with no movement at all. It seemed the orcs had already left.

So Lu Tian continued to move forward.

Soon, he climbed halfway up the mountain and stopped in an open space.

In front of me is a relatively flat depression. The temperature is much higher than the surrounding area. The grass and trees in the distance have withered, but the grass and trees here have just turned yellow.

"It should be here. I hope the information in the book is correct. Whether I can live peacefully in the end times depends on it. Gods and Buddhas in the sky, please bless me!"

He prayed anxiously in his heart, his eyes scanning his surroundings like radar, not missing a single blade of grass or tree. In the Record of the God of War, the Pure Yang Sword God described the cave's entrance as narrow, barely wide enough for one person to crawl through. Located on the mountainside, the entrance was covered in weeds and trees, making it difficult to spot. The symbol was a tree...

Found it! The news was right, haha! Apocalypse War God Record, I love you so much!

Lu Tian's eyes showed surprise. On the mountain about ten meters in front of him, there appeared an old apricot tree half a meter high, shaped like a hunchbacked old man. The trunk seemed to be particularly strong and sturdy, but now it was withered and dead, basically without life. At a glance, it looked unremarkable and had died of old age.

However, if you look carefully, you will find that several green buds have grown at the roots of the old apricot tree that seems to have died. They are fresh and tender, and the dead tree has come back to life, and life and death continue.
