Although Su Li felt a little uncomfortable with the kitten she used to cuddle with every day turning into a living, breathing person, it couldn't be said that there were no benefits.
Perhaps because he felt obligated to pay for her services, Xuanqing took the initiative to take over many of Su Li's tasks.
For example, a boiler that needs to be refilled with coal every one or two hours, a snow removal from the yard every half day, and cleaning of the house.
Although he did it by manipulating magic, which was effortless, it reduced Su Li's workload considerably.
Zuli used to be able to use bricklaying as a form of exercise, but now she has completely become idle.
The snow continued for two whole days before it finally stopped.
The snowfall was sometimes heavy and sometimes light, and eventually the snow accumulation reached a depth of two meters.
Su Li would occasionally stand on the mountaintop to take a look at the situation below. The base, which used to be able to see different colored areas, had already blended into the white city by the first night.
Looking down the mountain, the fields are covered in white.
Fortunately, Su Li was able to contact Qi Zhi, Lin Dong, and Huang Keke every night via walkie-talkie and knew that they were all alright, which put her mind at ease.
These people are now public officials in the base, so Su Li still needs to maintain good relations with them. You never know when she might need their support!
The cold weather didn't seem to have any negative impact on the mutated animals in the mountains. In fact, the sudden change in weather actually accelerated the evolution of these man-eating monsters!
Su Li had heard the roars more than once while she was outside.
She frowned slightly.
Such a menacing roar is definitely not something a low-level zombie or mutated creature would produce!
The giant two-headed mutated giraffe from before was already the highest-level mutated animal on the mountain.
During the days they settled in the mountains, she and Xuanqing almost swept through all the houses in the village, and then massacred the mutated animals in the nearby forests and fields.
To prevent the corpses of zombies and mutated animals from rotting and polluting the air and land, she even piled up the corpses of the mutated animals and burned them to ashes with her superpower!
Logically speaking, if there were any advanced mutated animals, she and Xuanqing should have discovered them.
Unless, a new mutant animal has evolved, and there's more than one of them!
However, if the mutated creatures on the mountain evolve faster, then the mutated creatures and zombies below the mountain will probably not mutate much slower!
Thinking this through, Su Li went back inside and first contacted Lin Dong, telling him about the problem she had just thought of.
After hearing this, Lin Dong immediately understood Su Li's meaning. After ending the call, he went to report to Lu Yu.
Zuli had no idea how the base would respond to a potential crisis.
She lived a more and more leisurely life in the mountains.
After Xuanqing tried cooking for the first time, he developed a great interest in cooking.
Su Li packed a lot of ingredients in the refrigerator for him and found several Chinese and Western cookbooks for him to figure out on his own.
For the first few days, every time Su Li came down from the gym upstairs after exercising, or came out rubbing her hair after waking up, or came back to the house after clearing out the mutated creatures near the yard, she would always see the devilishly handsome man standing in the spacious kitchen.
In front of men, there is always a scene of pots and pans flying everywhere, and flour, salt, and soy sauce flying around.
Fortunately, Xuanqing has a good talent for cooking. Although there were a few times when he tasted something bitter and astringent, after a few times, Su Li never tasted those strange flavors again!
She even got to eat a cream cake, a rare treat in the apocalypse!
Today is the fifth day after the snowfall.
Early in the morning, before five o'clock, Su Li was awakened by the extremely low temperature inside the room!
She suddenly opened her eyes, and the darkness in front of her made her pause for a second. After regaining her senses, she immediately reached out and touched the cabinet next to the bed.
As soon as my hand touched the surface of the bedside table, I was jolted by the cold!
It's so cold!
The warm orange light came on, but it didn't warm up the room.
Su Li sat up wrapped in the blanket, just about to get up to find her coat to check the situation outside, when she heard a familiar set of footsteps outside the bedroom door.
Her gaze shifted, and then there was a "click" as the bedroom door was suddenly pushed open!
As the door turned, a colder breeze blew in from outside. Su Li subconsciously shrank her neck and looked up at the tall figure that appeared in the doorway without warning.
Xuan Qing already knew Su Li was awake when he was outside the door, so he wasn't surprised when he met her gaze as she sat on the bed looking at him.
He carried a water glass in one hand and switched on the main light by the wall with the other, then stepped in and looked at Su Li, saying:
"The weather has suddenly gotten much colder. I just added coal to the boiler, but it will probably take a long time to get it to around 10 degrees Celsius."
He stood at the door, speaking softly with a cool tone.
After he finished speaking, he took two steps forward and handed the cup in his hand to Su Li: "Brown sugar water, have a sip to warm yourself up first."
The man in front of her was tall and imposing. Even with just a slight bend, Su Li could feel the warm body heat emanating from him, dispelling some of the chill around her.
She reached out and took the cup from Xuan Qing's hand, thanked him, and then watched as Xuan Qing hung a small black bag on the doorknob of her room while she drank the sugar water.
Su Li looked at the small cloth bag with curiosity and asked in confusion, "What's that?"
