Chapter 83 There has to be some kind of protagonist halo, right?

The ingredients for the hot pot at noon were prepared quickly.

Su Li actually took out a cantaloupe, cut it into pieces, and also took some strawberries. All the ingredients were ready!

To avoid making noise, for safety reasons, the group ate in the innermost storeroom. However, the storeroom door was open so that Xuanqing could hear any movement immediately!

The group enjoyed a lively lunch together.

Su Li likes spicy food, so she didn't touch the meat and vegetables in the tomato pot at all. Only at the end did she pour some tomato sauce over the beef cubes made by Lin Dong and eat a bowl of it.

The meat and vegetables served at this meal were mostly ingredients that had been brought back from the supermarket and vegetable yard.

The spoiled vegetable leaves have all been thrown away. The vegetables are washed clean and served on the table. Even though some leaves are still wilted, they don't taste strange at all under the strong flavor of the hot pot broth!

Su Li picked up a rice cake from the lucky bag and took a bite!

This was her first time eating a lucky bag filled with rice cakes. The rice cakes inside were cooked until very soft, and the slightly chewy bean curd skin on the outside made for a very fresh and delicious taste!

Su Li didn't usually like sticky, gooey foods like rice cakes, but she unexpectedly liked this rice cake lucky bag.

She quickly finished the lucky bag in her bowl, then picked up another one, but placed it in Xuanqing's bowl instead.

"Xuanqing, try this, it's delicious!"

As she spoke, she used her chopsticks to cut the lucky bag into two pieces, reminding her, "Be careful, it's a little hot!"

The spiciness of the hot pot broth was a bit too much for Xuanqing, so Suli only served him food from the tomato broth.

However, Xuanqing does eat spicy food, so she added some chopped chili peppers to Xuanqing's dipping sauce.

The group felt completely refreshed after the hot pot meal.

Satisfaction is one thing, being full is another, but it was definitely really hot!

When Su Li was halfway through her meal, she realized she might not have enough drinks, so she put another case of drinks in the mini-fridge.

After finishing their meal, the group sat down and rested for a few minutes before quickly washing all the bowls and plates they had used.

After everything was tidied up, everyone went back to their rooms, some to watch TV.

Lin Dong also asked Su Li for a chess set, and the two of them played it in the entertainment area while keeping watch downstairs.

The rain outside continued into the night, showing no signs of stopping.

The roars of zombies could be heard from downstairs from time to time, and the sound of breaking glass could still be heard from upstairs every now and then.

Occasionally, you can hear the huge footsteps of people and large numbers of zombies running and chasing each other through the water!

It seems there are still living survivors on the upper floors of the apartment building, but they have been discovered by these zombies with their more acute hearing!

The small team, which was well hidden, moved very cautiously as they approached the entertainment area in front.

Although they had to be cautious at all times, the two consecutive days of rain did allow them to get a good rest in the dangerous apocalypse!

Su Li knew when the rain would start. On the afternoon of the second day, after discussing it with her team members, she took out the walkie-talkie and radio that Lu Yu had given her, preparing to try to contact Lu Yu that evening!

According to their original plan, they intended to take over the food factories here, the city museum, and the gas station outside the city before contacting Lu Yu!

But now the situation has changed.

The rain came earlier than Zurich expected, and the danger level outside has increased dramatically!

The number of people who turned into zombies while working the night shift in the remaining food factories is probably no less than, if not more than, the number in the previous cooked food factories.

Therefore, if it's just a few of them, it's hard to guarantee that an accident won't happen in any factory.

However, if Lu Yu were to come along, the level of danger would be greatly reduced.

Putting everything else aside, he's the male lead!

There has to be some kind of protagonist's halo, right?

Moreover, since he is the male protagonist, according to what is written in the book, at least his character is trustworthy!

As for how to divide the food when we find it, since there are few of them, it's not impossible for them to ask for less!

The other members of the team had no objections to Su Li's idea.

Although Huang Keke and the other two had never met Lu Yu and his group, since Su Li and the others thought those people were trustworthy, they were naturally willing to believe them as well!

So at 8 p.m., it was the time Su Li and Lu Yu had agreed to contact each other!

Surprisingly, Su Li thought it would take several attempts to get in touch with Lu Yu, but Lin Dong was accepted by Lu Yu after only one attempt!

Things went unexpectedly smoothly.

However, since the rain hasn't stopped yet, even though Su Li knows it will definitely stop tomorrow, she can't say it.

So they made an agreement with Lu Yu that Lu Yu's team would come out of the city to meet them after the rain stopped.

Meanwhile, Su Li and the others were still waiting for their team to arrive in the suburbs. As for the more specific details, they would discuss them together after Lu Yu and his group arrived.

Having resolved a major issue smoothly, the team members were able to completely relax.

Tonight, Su Li and Lin Dong are on the first shift. The others have already gone back to their rooms to sleep. Su Li went downstairs with a flashlight to check the situation downstairs.

After two full days of torrential rain, even though this place is on higher ground, water leaks still inevitably seeped in from downstairs!

Fortunately, the soil that Xu Xiaojie had created blocked the cracks in the door, so not much water got into the house. It just looked damp, and with some of the soil that had been washed away, the ground looked dirty!

Su Li looked at the mess on the ground downstairs, and only after walking back upstairs and making sure the mutated creatures outside wouldn't hear her did she say to Lin Dong:

"Once Lu Yu and the others arrive, we'll probably have to find somewhere else to stay! If any new members join their team, this place definitely won't be big enough!"

After hearing this, Lin Dong turned and looked at the corridor inside for a while, then nodded: "The space is a bit cramped, unless we take out the warehouse and turn it into a multi-person room."

After saying that, he suddenly laughed and looked at Su Li: "But even though it's only been three or four days, I feel like I've already gotten used to living here. If I were to move out, I would really be reluctant!"

After hearing this, Su Li smiled after a long pause.

She understood what Lin Dong meant.

What he was reluctant to part with wasn't necessarily the two-story shop itself, but rather the life he had spent in that small two-story building these past few days.

Stable, peaceful, and comfortable.

There's no need to go out and run around, nor to face cruel, bloodthirsty monsters.

Everyone is together every day, eating, sleeping, exercising, watching TV series, having three meals a day, and having a regular daily routine. Everything is just like before the apocalypse!

Unfortunately, Su Li knew that reality wouldn't allow them to continue taking it so easy!
