Chapter 23 Ghost Ship - Juvenile Sea Monster

Chapter 23 Ghost Ship - Juvenile Sea Monster

Fang Zhiyi looked around.

The sea was calm and the sirens scattered and fled, leaving only the embers of their burning bodies drifting in the air.

There seems to be nothing wrong. Could it be my imagination?

Fang Zhiyi pulled hard, the hemp rope on the mast loosened, the sail was instantly inflated, and the raft slid forward a distance.

Turning to return to the control room, I glanced around and noticed that the area in front of the raft was empty.

He had deliberately hung the unhatched sea monster eggs there to lure the siren leader. Now, the sea monster eggs had vanished.

Fang Zhiyi calmed himself down and took a step forward. He noticed a small amount of viscous liquid remaining on the deck, and when he picked it up, it was still warm.

A clear, viscous liquid flowed across the deck, forming a meandering trail. The trail was still fresh, so it couldn't have gone far.

Fang Zhiyi slowed her pace and quietly followed the trail to the place where miscellaneous items were placed.

There's a crafting table and a water purifier here, along with some basic crafting supplies. Stools, wooden buckets, nets... all sorts of things are piled up together, making it hard to even find a place to stand.

Fang Zhiyi didn't rush over. After waiting a few minutes, he keenly spotted the shadow moving among the pile of debris. Then, he took a step forward and reached out to grab it.

...I missed my target.

The other party was very fast and slippery, and slipped into the gap in an instant.

Now that he had been discovered, Fang Zhiyi didn't try to hide anything and strode after him.

A chase ensued, a chaotic scene of chickens and dogs flying, with items from the pile of miscellaneous goods tumbling all over the floor. Finally, Fang Zhiyi cornered the other person, who cowered behind a wooden barrel, trembling with fear.

Fang Zhiyi rolled up his sleeves: "You can really run." With that, he grabbed the wooden bucket that was blocking his way.

With nowhere to hide, the creature finally revealed its true form. In the corner, a palm-sized octopus trembled, its long, thin tentacles outstretched. Two of them supported its body, while the others clung to its shell, which was even larger than its body, as it struggled to squeeze into the crevices.

[Juvenile sea monster]

Fang Zhiyi picked up the net and covered it directly.

"Pfft pfft—"

The little sea monster's tentacles wriggled and stretched, making strange noises.

Fang Zhiyi brought the net in front of him and stared at the little sea monster inside.

The little sea monster shrank back, and with a "whoosh," it darted back into its shell, curled up into a ball, and covered its eyes with its tentacles, too afraid to look.

Fang Zhiyi: "..."

He never imagined that the sea monster's egg would hatch, and that a little sea monster would emerge from it onto his raft.

What should we do now?

Releasing it? He killed a sea monster; what if he releases it and seeks revenge later?

Or should we just carry out humanitarian destruction...? The thought of killing had just formed when the little sea monster shuddered, and then its tentacles cautiously reached out, the tips of which wrapped around the fingers.

【ma……mama】

Fang Zhiyi felt a chill on her fingertips as she heard a childish voice calling in her ear.

[Juvenile sea monster]

[Request to become a pet on the raft, do you agree?]

[Current Raft Pet Slots (0/1)]

Fang Zhiyi chose "Yes".

After agreeing, he developed a strange connection with the little sea monster. Whenever he wanted, he could share his vision with the little sea monster and see everything it saw.

Please name your pet (an immature sea monster).

Fang Zhiyi didn't like to waste too much time on choosing a name, so she just blurted out, "Pupu."

[PuPu's Affection +1]

The little sea monster landed on the deck with a plop, patted the deck with its tentacles, and raised its eggshell towards Fang Zhiyi.

[ma...eat...]

Fang Zhiyi: "..."

I appreciate your kind offer, but you should eat it yourself.

Pupu hugged the eggshell tightly and bit into it piece by piece, eventually swallowing the shell, which was even larger than itself. After eating, its body was a size larger than before, and its tentacles were even more powerful.

Fang Zhiyi took out a fresh fish fillet from his backpack and threw it over.

Puff Puff was incredibly fast, rushing right in front of us in an instant. Its tentacles curled up the fish fillet, and it began to eat it with slurping sounds.

The fish fillets must have tasted really good, because I was eating them with such gusto, my head practically bobbing up and down. If I could visualize it, I'd be basking in a string of little hearts.

[PuPu's Affection +5]

Fang Zhiyi lowered his head.

Seeing that Pupu had finished eating the fish fillet, it wriggled over to my feet and stared at me longingly.

[Hungry...ma...]

What else could Fang Zhiyi do? The child was still growing, and his nutrition had to keep up.

The fish fillets in the backpack were all eaten clean. Pupu was finally full. After burping, it waddled over to the raft and plunged straight into the sea.

The moment he entered the water, Fang Zhiyi had a strange feeling. He could see bubbles rising from the seabed, colorful coral reefs, clownfish leisurely swaying in them, and further away, a huge shadow silently swimming by.

The alternative perspective shared by Pupu was initially quite novel, but after watching for a while, it made me a little dizzy, so Fang Zhiyi unilaterally disconnected the connection.

"Once we find any differences, we'll share the footage again."

Okay...mama

Fang Zhiyi: "..."

Can you please stop calling him "Mom"?

That's weird.

The raft passed through the sirens' territory without any trouble. Just as it left the sea, a thick fog suddenly rose on the surface ahead. The fog was so dense that visibility was extremely low; even with the lights on, one could only see within a meter.

Fang Zhiyi turned around.

The level 4 raft was faster, and Chu Zhao lagged behind by a step. Through the layers of mist, he could vaguely see the lights hanging on the raft.

Fang Zhiyi tried to shout.

But the fog was so thick that no sound could get out. The music bonsai added fuel to the fire by changing to a sinister background music that was so startling that it sounded like ghosts were about to crawl out.

Fang's intention: "Turn it off!"

The musical bonsai twisted its body and reluctantly turned off the music.

But without the music, the raft fell into a deathly silence, like a lonely island at sea, cold and desolate.

Fang Zhiyi: "...Turn on the music." He paused, "...change it to something more festive."

The musical bonsai plant indicated its refusal.

Fang Zhiyi raised his fist and smiled.

Amidst the cheerful background music of Dou Dizhu (a popular Chinese card game), Fang Zhiyi opened a private chat.

[fzy: What's the next step?]

[Chu Zhao: The fog is too thick; I can't tell which way is which. I'll send the parrot out to check.]

Fang Zhiyi opened the map. The map was also covered in thick fog, with no markers to indicate any location. He could only patiently wait for Chu Zhao's reply.

[Chu Zhao: The parrot can't see anything]

Fang Zhiyi stopped the raft and looked back. The path they had come from was also covered in fog, and they couldn't find their way out at all.

[Chu Zhao: There are two possibilities. One is that the flight path in the diary is wrong, and the other is that there has been some change in the flight path.]

[Chu Zhao: Let's wait until dawn to see if the fog dissipates.]

Fang Zhiyi checked the time.

After battling the sea monster all day and traveling under the stars and moon, they didn't notice the passage of time at all, and before they knew it, it was already the early morning of the fifth day of their struggle for survival.

The survival points have reached 30.

Today's weather is [volcano].

Fang was a little puzzled.

Can volcanoes erupt in the ocean?

There seemed to be nothing unusual at the moment, but it was also possible that the fog was too thick. With some time still to go before dawn, Fang Zhiyi felt a bit sleepy and decided to rest while waiting.

I slept for about two hours when I suddenly heard a rustling sound.

【ma...look...】

Fang Zhiyi was half asleep when she received the request to share her view, and she agreed without thinking.

After a brief flash of white light, a scene appeared before me.

Mist, deep sea, sunken mast, a flag fluttering with a skull on it.

It's a pirate shipwreck!

Fang Zhiyi instantly regained her senses.

Yes, the fog on the sea surface limits visibility, but it doesn't affect visibility on the seabed, so the little sea monster, Pupu, can come and go freely.

"Where?" Fang Zhiyi pulled back the covers. "Take me there."

[Ma... I can't remember the way...]

It sounds a bit confusing.

Fang Zhiyi reiterated, "Take me there, I'll treat you to fish." He paused, then added, "Lots and lots of fish."

"[Ma! Here!]" The little sea monster's voice instantly perked up with excitement. "[Take Ma there, take Ma there—]"

Not long after, the little sea monster popped out of the sea, with two tentacles resting on the deck and the other pointing forward.

Fang Zhiyi kept his word and took a fresh, live fish from the supermarket, tossing it to Pupu.

Pupu clung to it awkwardly, took a bite, and exclaimed: "[Ma, this feels weird]!"

Fang Zhiyi glanced at it.

The fresh food supermarkets sell mostly river fish, which are artificially bred to be large, meaty, and tender, and have less of a fishy smell. I never thought that the native sea monsters would be able to accept it.

"It doesn't taste good?"

[So...delicious!]

[PuPu's Affection +1]

The little sea monster, Pupu, quickly accepted the unusual food. After finishing the fish, it pushed its tentacles back forcefully and led the way.

[fzy: I've found a pirate shipwreck, follow me!]

Fang Zhiyi followed behind the little sea monster Pupu, breaking through the mist and moving forward. Fearing Chu Zhao might fall behind, he walked and stopped intermittently.

After more than ten minutes, the outline of the sunken ship gradually appeared in the fog.

This shipwreck has been submerged for longer than the one where the sea monster previously inhabited. Its hull is eroded and rotten by seawater, its masts are covered with barnacles, and there are even pale bones on the deck.

【ma!】

Fang Zhiyi slowly steered the raft closer and smelled a rotten odor.

"Caw!" The parrot flapped its wings and landed on the mast.

Ghost Ship

The name doesn't sound very friendly, but since we're already here, it's impossible not to go up and check it out.

Chu Zhao wanted the ship's core, while he needed the [Heart of the Ocean], the material to upgrade the level 5 raft.

According to the pirate captain's diary, he had seen the Heart of the Ocean, and the clues are most likely on the pirate ship.

Fang Zhiyi no longer hesitated and turned her head: "Together?"

Chu Zhao grunted in response, then leaped onto the deck with his long legs.

Squeak.

Fang Zhiyi also boarded the ship.

The deck, weathered by wind and rain, creaked and groaned as you walked on it, making you wonder if it would collapse and disintegrate at any moment.

Fang Zhiyi walked cautiously, not daring to take a solid step. When she finally arrived at the captain's cabin, she pushed the door, only to find it locked from the inside.

Chu Zhao also tried to push it.

The wooden door, which looked rotten and rusty, was unusually sturdy and could not be opened no matter how hard you tried.

[A key to the captain's cabin is needed]
