Chapter 29 Preparing to Take Action
In the three-story Western-style building, Han Shuo was chatting with the fat man in his room.
Sudden!
"bite--!"
A very small, crisp sound came from downstairs outside!
Han Shuo had sharp ears! He frowned and gestured for the fat man to be quiet.
The fat man was full of doubt. He hadn't heard a sound and didn't know why Han Shuo had suddenly become alert.
Han Shuo ignored the fat man and quickly walked to the window. He vaguely heard that the sound just now came from this position.
The sound did not continue.
Han Shuo lifted the curtains and looked down, noticing that the kitchen light on the first floor was on.
"At this time? Who could it be?"
Han Shuo reached out and called the fat man over, saying softly, "Fatty, go to the door and see if Li Shurou is in the room."
Seeing that Han Shuo didn't seem to be joking, the fat man stopped fooling around, nodded, and walked to the door, opening it a crack.
Soon, the fat man closed the door again and walked back to Han Shuo's side.
"Li Shurou's door was closed, but there was light coming through the crack, so she should be inside."
"Since it's not Li Shurou in the kitchen, then it must be those two old folks." Normally, the two elders would have already retired by this time.
"You mean... they might make a move tonight?" the fat man realized.
"Possibly. They've all eaten and drunk their fill, so what are they doing in the kitchen at this time?" Han Shuo's lips curled up. As the saying goes, when everything is normal, if there is a sudden abnormal behavior, then there must be a reason for it!
"Could it be that the two old people are hungry or thirsty?" the fat man asked.
"We can't rule out such accidents, but it's precisely at times like these that we can't afford to be careless!"
"Alright, shall we make the first move?"
Han Shuo thought for a moment and said, "I need to confirm the specific situation, and based on this alone, I probably won't be able to convince Li Shurou. Now, you can tell what impression she has of these two elders."
The fat man felt a headache coming on whenever Han Shuo mentioned Li Shurou.
"This silly girl, how did she suddenly become all looks and no brains?"
These past few days, the fat man has indeed seen things very clearly; if he considers himself to be the old couple's son...
So, Li Shurou treated the two elders as her family.
The only difference is that the fat man was faking it, while Li Shurou was genuinely sincere.
Even when Han Shuo occasionally reminded her, Li Shurou completely ignored him.
"What do you want to do?" the fat man asked.
Han Shuo already had a plan in mind.
"I'll go down and check it out first. You stay in the house. If there's any movement downstairs, be prepared immediately!"
After speaking, Han Shuo paused for a moment, and then added a final sentence.
"While you're at it, keep an eye out at the door. If those two old guys come upstairs while I'm down, you should look after Li Shurou."
Now that the three of them had made it this far together, Han Shuo was determined not to give up if he could!
“Okay, but this is the third floor. How are you going to get down? Going down openly is too dangerous. They have a gun!” the fat man said with some concern.
"Don't worry, watch me!" Han Shuo smiled, walked to the cabinet, and took out a backpack from it.
This backpack was the one the two of them brought from Han Shuo's house that day, and it was also the first time Han Shuo had used it to carry food in a convenience store.
To avoid unnecessary trouble, everything except Han Shuo's Tang sword and this backpack, including Li Shurou and Fatty's new weapons, was left in the car.
Han Shuo took out a bundle of rope from his backpack. Fatty's eyes lit up when he saw it. He knew that Han Shuo had taken it from the convenience store before, and he never expected it to come in handy now.
"I'll use a rope to get down from the window!" Han Shuo said as he untied the rope that had been wrapped around his neck.
"Tie it to me! I'll pull the rope up again after you go down!"
The fat man's weight might not be enough to cover Han Shuo twice, but it's definitely enough to weigh one and a half. Han Shuo's small frame is nothing to the fat man's current strength!
"good!"
Soon, the two were ready, with one end of the rope tied around Han Shuo's waist and the other end around the fat man's body.
Han Shuo gently opened the window, nimbly flipped out in an instant, and grabbed the edge of the window frame without making a sound.
"I'm going. Take care of yourself!"
After saying that, without waiting for the fat man to reply, Han Shuo released his hands and slowly fell down the rope.
A dozen seconds later, Han Shuo landed softly, untied the ropes binding him, and nodded at the fat man.
The fat man quickly pulled up the rope, closed the window, and waited quietly. He would look down from the window for a while, and then walk to the door and observe the direction of the stairs.
"Damn, fighting zombies and zombie dogs has never been this nerve-wracking. Fighting humans! I never expected it to be so exciting!"
...
Below, Han Shuo had already secretly gone around.
Turning a corner along the wall, Han Shuo quickly bent down; this was right under the kitchen window.
The lights were still on, but Han Shuo didn't dare to look up directly. Instead, he listened quietly.
"Footsteps! Sure enough, there's someone in the kitchen!"
Soon, about a minute later, Han Shuo heard Jiang Bo's voice coming from inside.
"How's the preparation going? I've already taken the things out." Uncle Jiang had returned from the basement.
"Almost done. I've quickly cooked a few bowls of wontons; I'll mix them in later. We'll poison them tonight!"
Sure enough, those two short sentences were enough for Han Shuo to confirm that the two old guys would make their move tonight.
"Poison? What a brilliant plan!"
The sound Han Shuo heard upstairs was probably the sound of bowls colliding.
He had thought that the two old guys might use guns, or wait until they were alone before making their move, but he never expected that they would even have something like poison.
Fortunately, Han Shuo had been on guard all along, which is why he was able to discover it tonight. Otherwise, such a vicious trick could easily have gotten them killed!
Now that his suspicions had been confirmed, Han Shuo had a reason to act! And he wanted to strike first!
The main gate of the mansion was locked from the inside. If Han Shuo went in rashly, it would definitely make a noise. If those two old guys reacted and grabbed their guns...
Then the situation must be quite dire!
Han Shuo made a quick decision, picked up a small stone from the ground, and threw it towards the door!
"Da~"
The sound wasn't loud, but it was loud enough for people in the kitchen to hear.
"What was that sound? Old man, did you hear it?"
"I heard it, it seems to be coming from outside."
The two elders had no suspicion that Han Shuo was outside. They had checked before going downstairs and found that the three of them were still in the room.
"I'll go take a look," Uncle Jiang said.
As soon as he finished speaking, Uncle Jiang walked out of the kitchen. Through the glass door, he saw that it was pitch black outside and there was no movement at all. Still feeling a little strange, Uncle Jiang unlocked the door, opened it, and went outside...
Meanwhile, Han Shuo had already sneaked over and was waiting in the shadows of the gate!
