Chapter 6 The Uninvited Guest

Chapter 6 The Uninvited Guest

Han Shuo carried a backpack full of food on his back, a box of instant noodles in his left hand, and a drawn Tang sword in his right hand.

100 meters, 50 meters, 10 meters...

This time, Han Shuo didn't take a detour and ran straight towards his building's stairwell at top speed.

Apart from casually chopping off another zombie's head with a knife, nothing else went wrong.

Han Shuo hurried upstairs, reaching the 6th floor in one go. He took the key, opened the door, went inside, closed the door, and locked it!

A series of actions were completed quickly.

Han Shuo finally calmed down.

"We're safe!"

Leaning against the door, panting heavily, Han Shuo felt a sense of relief. A slight smile played on his lips.

"Haha! I never expected this, I never expected this."

"I never imagined that I, Han, could adapt so quickly to this apocalypse!"

This trip instilled a deep confidence in Han Shuo.

He didn't know what the future held, nor how long he could hold out. But he could still recall the panic he felt when he killed the first zombie.

Han Shuo is finding it increasingly exciting now!

...

Han Shuo casually tossed the food he had brought back onto the sofa and went to the bedroom to change into clean clothes.

The clothes he was wearing were covered in a yellowish, filthy substance. Han Shuo couldn't tell whether it was zombie blood or not.

Back in the living room, I lit a cigarette and took a deep drag.

"Home is the best!"

Although fighting zombies was thrilling and exhilarating for him, Han Shuo also enjoyed the peaceful life at home.

With a cigarette dangling from his mouth, he opened his backpack and emptied out all the food, sorting it by type and shelf life.

Han Shuo even took two bottles of high-proof liquor from the convenience store.

He wasn't a heavy drinker, but alcohol helped him fall asleep quickly.

Han Shuo didn't sleep well last night.

Han Shuo casually opened a can of meat and started eating.

"Oh my god, it smells so good!" For several days in a row, from the day he had a fever until today, Han Shuo had not tasted meat. Now, eating it, he found it incredibly delicious.

I didn't eat much, just one can of food to replenish my energy before going out, and put the rest away.

Right now, food is the most precious thing!

As evening approached, Han Shuo lifted the curtains and observed for a while longer.

During this time, it is possible that someone saw Han Seok successfully taking food from the convenience store, and many others followed suit.

Five more people, who had been cautiously leaving the house, actually reappeared.

But the result was disappointing, as they didn't possess Han Shuo's fighting prowess. All four of them ended up inside the zombies' mouths, except for one middle-aged man who managed to kill one with a kitchen knife and eventually retrieve some food from the convenience store to return safely.

Han Shuo left the window and stopped looking. It was already dark, and few people would be out at night. In addition, visibility was poor in the evening, and it was impossible to see the situation below from the 6th floor.

Han Shuo didn't eat anything that evening; he wasn't hungry and wanted to save money wherever possible.

He doesn't want to go out often unless absolutely necessary, as each trip is a test of life and death.

Around 8 PM. Suddenly, Han Shuo heard what sounded like someone knocking on the door!

"Da da da! Da da da!"

The sound was very soft, and Han Shuo, who was in the inner room, didn't notice it unless he listened carefully.

"Someone's here? Judging from the rhythm of the knocking, it shouldn't be a zombie."

Han Shuo did not respond and quietly walked out.

"It seems the survivors in the building have run out of food. Let's see if there's anyone in the room who can help him."

Han Shuo quickly made a judgment.

This is normal; aside from people who prefer staying at home, most people don't store much food. It's been a week since the disaster started. Even with the most frugal lifestyle, most people have already run out of food.

Han Shuo ignored them, intending to leave after confirming that no one was inside. He didn't want to share the food he had risked his life for with others.

"Knock, knock, knock!" Another sound came from outside the door. Perhaps after a while, suddenly, a voice reached Han Shuo's ears after the knocking.

"Brother, open the door. I mean no harm, I know there are people inside."

Han Shuo still did not respond, and did not even open the peephole to check.

"Bro, if you don't open the door, I'm going to yell! Don't blame me if zombies block the door!"

"Damn it!" Han Shuo was furious upon hearing this. He picked up the Tang sword beside him and finally opened the door!

As soon as the door opened, a dark figure darted in and slammed the door shut behind him. The instant he turned around, Han Shuo had already placed the Tang sword against his neck.

"Brother, brother! Don't be impulsive. Listen to me first!" The man was clearly frightened and stammered as he begged for mercy.

Han Shuo reached out and turned on the corridor light. The dim light shone on his face, and only then could he see the person's appearance clearly.

A man with short hair, slightly overweight, weighing around 200 pounds. He was about the same height as Han Shuo, but looked younger, probably under 30.

Although he had an innocent-looking face, Han Shuo was not at all wary of him for running out alone late at night.

"What do you want to do!"

Han Shuo didn't ask the fat man's name; it wasn't important to him. What mattered was why the fat man had come to his house.

"Brother, can we put the knife down first? I really didn't mean any harm."

Under the light, the two could see each other's faces clearly, and the fat man didn't seem so panicked.

"Take off your coat and spin around in place!"

Han Shuo gave the order, his Tang sword still in his hand.

The fat man instantly understood, quickly took off his coat and threw it aside, then spun around 360 degrees on the spot.

Han Shuo carefully examined the fat man and only took the Tang sword from under the fat man's shoulder after confirming that the fat man was not carrying any weapons.

"Phew—, brother, you scared me to death! I really didn't mean any harm."

The fat man breathed a sigh of relief and reiterated his attitude.

Han Shuo turned and sat down on the sofa, his Tang sword still firmly in his hand. He looked at the fat man and said, "Speak, what brings you here?"

The fat man didn't dare to step forward. He stood still, a smile playing on his lips, trying his best to appear approachable.

"Brother, I want to be with you."

"Get lost!" Han Shuo cursed.

The fat man seemed to realize there was something wrong with his way of speaking, so he patted his mouth and reorganized his thoughts.

"What I mean is, let's team up and act together."

Han Shuo frowned and replied, "I don't need it, you can leave."

The fat man was a little anxious and hurriedly explained, "Brother, I'm useful, and given the situation outside, it's better for two people to look after each other than one."

"I told you, I don't need it!"

"No, brother, think about it again. I definitely won't hold you back."

...

Without arguing with the fat man any further, Han Shuo suddenly thought of a question.
