Chapter 122 Change the Direction of the Exit
Han Shuo estimated the time; it was already past midnight when Li Shurou finished her work.
She looked tired, but there was a hint of satisfaction in her eyes.
Compared to fighting, healing the sick and saving lives is clearly what Li Shurou prefers and is better at.
After arranging temporary accommodations for the three of them, Chen Hai got up to attend to other matters.
Not long after, Chen Hai brought over some more food to express his gratitude for Li Shurou's kindness.
Han Shuo could tell that food was scarce here, and since the three of them still had food, he politely declined Chen Hai's offer.
Although Chen Hai felt a little guilty, he ultimately listened to Han Shuo's advice.
After Chen Hai left, only Han Shuo and the other two remained.
"Alright, that's enough. You two should sit down and have something to eat."
When Han Shuo was rummaging through his backpack, he realized that although it was stuffed full of food, most of it had been left in the car.
What they have now is probably only enough to feed them for about three days.
Han Shuo sighed inwardly.
"It looks like we'll have to find food first after we go out tomorrow, and then head to the military base."
Once food is cut off, one will be unable to move an inch.
Soon, the three of them had filled their stomachs. Exhausted from a day's work, they stopped chatting, spread out their bedding, and prepared to rest.
Of course, upon arriving in a new environment with so many other survivors nearby, Han Shuo felt that there was little danger after getting to know them.
However, they still plan to take turns keeping watch at night.
Thus, although none of the three slept for long that night, their bodies and minds were ultimately relieved.
The next day, the three of them didn't waste any more time and packed their things to leave.
Han Shuo found Chen Hai and spoke.
"Uncle Hai, could you please take us to the nearest emergency exit?"
"Oh? So early? Aren't you going to rest here a little longer?"
Chen Hai was clearly reluctant to part with it.
"No, we have other things to do."
"Okay, wait for me a moment, I'll go get a torch."
"good."
After Chen Hai finished speaking, he quickly walked to the wall and reached out to take a torch.
"Come on, I'll take you out."
Han Shuo nodded and followed behind Chen Hai with Fatty and Li Shurou.
As they left, the survivors who had been treated by Li Shurou the previous night waved goodbye to the three of them.
...
Soon, the four left the camp in the sewers.
On the way, the fat man asked.
"Uncle Hai, your food supply won't last more than a few days, will it?"
"Yes, every day I take a few young people with me to search outside. It was better at first, but recently the results have been really dismal."
Chen Hai shook his head helplessly.
Hearing this, Han Shuo frowned. The three of them were also running out of food. He had originally planned to look for food in the city after they went up.
Unfortunately, Chen Hai and his group had already searched through all the nearby supplies, so it seemed that even if the three of them wanted to search, they wouldn't find much of a good result.
After thinking for a moment, Han Shuo spoke.
"Uncle Hai, are there no other foods around here?"
"How could that be? The city is so big, there must be many more. I climbed out of one of the exits before, which led to a large supermarket. I saw that the goods inside were almost untouched. However, there were too many zombies there, so I was scared and quickly climbed back to block the exit."
Even now, Chen Hai still feels terrified when he thinks back on it, unlike Han Shuo and the other two.
After all, they were just ordinary survivors, with no fighting ability and would panic at the sight of zombies.
Not everyone can adapt to the current situation; in fact, most people are just like Chen Hai.
People like Han Shuo and his two companions, who fought their way through the battles, are a very small minority.
...
Han Shuo's eyes lit up when he heard there was a large supermarket with a wide variety of goods.
Others might be afraid of zombies, but they're not really afraid now.
"Uncle Hai, how many zombies are in that supermarket you mentioned?"
"Huh? What happened? There were probably forty or fifty of them. I didn't dare to count them carefully at the time," Chen Hai said after thinking for a moment.
Forty or fifty? That's not too many. With our current combat capabilities, if we're careful, we should be able to handle them.
Han Shuo quickly made an analysis in his mind, and then said happily.
"Uncle Hai, let's go, turn around, and not go to the nearest exit."
“Take us to the exit you mentioned earlier that leads to the large supermarket!”
"Huh? No way, it's too dangerous." Chen Hai looked at Han Shuo in surprise and quickly waved his hand to refuse.
In his view, going to that large supermarket would be no different from suicide.
After all, there were only four people here, and he himself had no combat power. He felt it was too unrealistic for Han Shuo and the other two to eliminate forty or fifty zombies.
"Uncle Hai, don't be so scared. Let me tell you, the three of us are pretty tough. I can take on ten of those yellow-eyed kids by myself."
The fat man wasn't exaggerating this time. After all, he's a genetically engineered human, and ten zombies really don't pose any threat to him right now.
"Yes, it's alright, Uncle Hai, please take us there," Li Shurou said with a smile.
Chen Hai saw the three people in front of him, their faces full of confidence, as if they weren't lying, and he felt a slight doubt in his heart.
Am I really getting old? Or has my perspective narrowed? Are young people these days so arrogant?
Although Chen Hai thought this way, he ultimately chose to believe them.
"Hmm... alright, I'll take you there, but if there's any danger, please don't force yourself. Your own lives are the most important thing."
"Don't worry, Uncle Hai, please lead the way," Han Shuo said with a smile.
...
About an hour later, Chen Hai led Han Shuo and the other two to an iron ladder.
Han Shuo observed carefully along the way. In the sewers, he would find some markings on the walls every time he turned a corner, and there were even several places marked with the words "dead end".
Han Shuo knew without a doubt that it was left by Chen Hai, which explained why he didn't have to worry about getting lost even after traveling so far.
"Wait a minute, I've blocked the top with wooden planks. I'll climb up and remove them first."
"good."
After Chen Hai finished speaking, he carefully climbed up the ladder with both hands and soon retrieved the wooden plank.
"Okay, climb up from the top, that's the back door of the underground supermarket. Open the door on your left and you'll be inside the supermarket."
Chen Hai spoke first, then added a worried word of advice.
"Kids, maybe you shouldn't go. It's too dangerous."
Han Shuo smiled slightly and said confidently.
"Don't worry, Uncle Hai, you wait downstairs. We'll be right back."
As soon as he finished speaking, Han Shuo wasted no more time. He called Fatty and Li Shurou, and they climbed up the iron ladder.
Chen Hai looked up at the three people who had disappeared into the darkness, a hint of worry in his eyes.
He hesitated for a while, still feeling uneasy, then sighed deeply and climbed up from behind.
