Chapter 43 Encountering the Alien Again

Chapter 43 Encountering the Alien Again

Two days passed in the blink of an eye. Han Shuo found a room in the building with a window that faced the courtyard below, and he kept observing it.

In the past two days, guided by signs in various corners of the city, three more civilian survivors have arrived. Without exception, they all saw armed soldiers guarding the gathering place, and each of them had an expression of relief on their faces.

However, after the soldiers checked their bodies and confirmed that there was no risk of infection from their wounds, they threw them all into the initial group of survivors and then ignored them.

Han Shuo was right. Although the survivors who came here were far from the risk of dying in the mouths of zombies, they felt more like they were being held captive.

This made Han Shuo even more certain of how wise he had been not to rush over there.

In addition to these, every day, the middle-aged man would take three or four soldiers out for a trip, leaving half of the soldiers to guard the courtyard.

Han Shuo secretly followed them yesterday and discovered that the group of people who went out with the middle-aged man were mainly looking for supplies in the city. They would clear out scattered zombies and avoid large groups of zombies.

The cleanup was mostly done with melee weapons, except for the occasional firing of a gun, probably because they didn't want to waste bullets.

Sure enough, the middle-aged man went out again that day with a few people.

"You three, come with me!" The middle-aged man casually called out the names of three soldiers.

"Yes, Captain!"

Han Shuo packed his things and hurriedly left the house, continuing to secretly follow behind.

Fortunately, the middle-aged men weren't driving, so Han Shuo could easily keep up.

"Strange, why does this captain never make a move?"

After following for more than an hour, even Han Shuo didn't know how far they had gone. Along the way, he noticed that the middle-aged man never took action to deal with the zombies; it was always the other soldiers around him who did it.

Is he or she a 'superhuman'?

Han Shuo was somewhat puzzled; without this person taking action, Han Shuo couldn't make a judgment at all.

Lost in thought, Han Shuo found himself following them to the vicinity of a large shopping mall.

"Captain, should we go in and search?" one of the soldiers said.

"How much food do we have left?" the middle-aged man asked casually.

"The gathering point is getting more and more crowded, and the food will probably only last for about a week."

The middle-aged man thought for a moment. Their harvest hadn't been good in the past few days. The food they found each day was not enough to cover their daily consumption. If this continued, they would either have to reduce their numbers or have to return with these people.

Their mission in the city was to find as many survivors as possible.

The mission objective requires a minimum of 100 survivors, but we are still short by half.

Large shopping malls were places he didn't really want to go because the situation there was complicated. But if things continued like this, not only would he not be able to survive, but he wouldn't even be able to solve the food problem.

"Go in!" In the end, the middle-aged man gave the order; he had to complete this mission.

"Alright!" the three subordinates responded in unison.

...

"Huh? They actually dared to go in."

Han Shuo, who was observing from a corner, admired the courage of the group.

Large shopping malls are inherently densely populated places, so zombies are bound to be a problem.

Han Shuo didn't go inside. Instead, he found a room with a wide view in a building across from the mall and waited quietly inside.

"Smack!"

Soon, less than five minutes after Han Shuo entered the room, he heard a gunshot coming from the shopping mall across the street.

"It seems we really can't solve this with just cold weapons," Han Shuo muttered to himself, continuing to observe the situation at the mall entrance.

No one came out, so it seemed the problem had been resolved and wasn't serious. No further gunshots were heard.

About 20 minutes later, a burst of intense gunfire suddenly rang out inside the mall.

"We're in danger!" Han Shuo stared intently, not daring to blink.

After the gunshots rang out again, the sound of gunfire continued unabated.

Han Shuo silently counted in his mind; it lasted a full minute.

"They're all carrying rifles, and they've been firing for so long, they must have encountered more than a hundred zombies at the same time!"

Han Shuo immediately made an analysis: the three men under the middle-aged man were much more skilled and had better reaction abilities than ordinary people. They had obviously been professionally trained. For them to keep firing for so long, they must have encountered a big problem.

Two minutes later, Han Shuo saw the soldier who had just asked the question run out first, followed by the captain and all four of them.

After escaping, the four men turned around and used the gate as a divider, picked up their rifles, and started firing into the mall.

Through the glass, Han Shuo saw that the room was filled with zombies, and groups of three or five were crowding out from the doorway.

"Sure enough, there's no casualties." Han Shuo praised. Before they knew it, a large number of zombies had fallen in front of the mall!

Although Han Shuo couldn't see exactly how many zombies were inside from here, with the suppressive firepower of the four people below, they might actually be able to clear them out in a while.

It seemed that the group had no intention of escaping; instead, they were cleaning up quickly and methodically.

"Keep it up, everyone! Once we clear out the zombies inside, we won't have to worry about supplies for a while!" The middle-aged man encouraged his men.

Without realizing it, the middle-aged man caught a glimpse of a zombie emerging from the western intersection!

This zombie was about 100 meters away from them, which was quite unusual!

It was completely naked, with its skin peeled off, revealing bright red flesh. In the zombie's eyes, instead of a murky yellow, they were green!

"An alien!" Han Shuo saw the zombie from upstairs, and his heart pounded instantly!

The skinless zombie turned around and spotted the four people below.

"Ahhhhhhh!" A sharp, piercing sound came from its mouth!

Han Shuo immediately covered his ears. The shout, even from such a distance, made him feel dizzy!

The sound was brief, lasting only two seconds!

Then, Han Shuo saw the middle-aged man below look gloomy.

...

"Xiao Zhao! Switch to sniper rifle! Change fire!"

"Everyone else keep firing and continue suppressing the zombies inside the mall!" The middle-aged man quickly made the adjustment. Others might not know, but he knew how terrifying this zombie was!

The soldier called Xiao Zhao was clearly not flustered. He released the trigger, threw the rifle on the ground, and pulled out the sniper rifle from behind him.

Load! Chamber the gun! Aim! Fire!

A series of actions were completed quickly, and the bullet was fired!

Perhaps because the roar of the skinless zombie had made Xiao Zhao a little dizzy, he didn't aim very accurately and missed the zombie's head. Instead, the bullet landed slightly off-target below the zombie's neck.
