Go to City B

Go to City B

The beeping sound of his eye-protecting sunglasses reminded Shen Xu that he had been exposed to the artificial sun for a long time today. He stood up from the recliner. Perhaps it was the sunlight, but his mood had improved a lot. Even fake artificial sunlight had this effect, so what about the real sun?

Shen Xu didn't want to wait any longer, he was eager to return to land.

He knocked on Song Si's door: "I want to go back to land."

Song Si looked at his calm expression, without the previous anxiety and hesitation, and knew that Shen Xu would definitely carry out this decision: "Where are the others?"

"I will leave in a safe submarine, and Yougni will take full control of the underwater base temporarily, is that okay?" When saying the last three words, Shen Xu carefully looked at Song Si's expression.

Song Si was leaning against the door frame, her eyes wandering, not knowing what she was thinking. After a long while, just when Shen Xu felt that she was about to refuse, Song Si said, "Okay."

Shen Xu looked up at her in surprise: "Thank you."

The conversation between the two was brief, and Shen Xu returned to his dormitory and sorted out his backpack. In addition to the diving suit, he also put a lot of energy bars in it.

After packing everything, he closed his backpack, turned on the radio next to him, and sent another message: I will return to the land of City B from the bottom of the sea. The coordinates for landing are...

After setting up the loop transmission, Shen Xu wasn't sure how the survivors in City A would react to this radio transmission. There was a hint of confusion in his eyes. Outside the window was still the dark deep sea, and the mini-submarine was ready.

Shen Xu took his backpack and walked to the hatch. Song Si was already waiting there. "The most advanced diving suit. Even if there is a problem with the submarine, it can help you isolate most of the pressure in the deep sea."

Song Si helped Shen Xu put on the somewhat heavy diving suit. Behind it was the isolation cabin, and she couldn't go in. She could only watch Shen Xu, who was wrapped in metal clothes, open the hatch of the isolation cabin.

"Chen Xu, you must stay alive." Song Si murmured.

Unfortunately, Shen Xu certainly couldn't hear it. He had already entered the isolation cabin. Not long after, the sea water filled the interior, and he opened the hatch leading to the deep sea.

A mini-submarine was waiting for him outside.

It was pitch black outside, lit only by the overhead lights. Shen Xu took a deep breath and walked towards the isolation compartment of the mini-submarine.

The only sound he could hear was breathing, and all around him was silent. At such a deep place, marine life was rare.

In the isolation compartment of the small submarine, after Shen Xu closed the hatch, the sea water slowly receded. He opened the helmet on his head and breathed in deep breaths of oxygen.

The oxygen here was not as abundant as in the base. Shen Xu had undergone training on most weapons and equipment before entering the base. He walked into the cockpit and began to control the submarine to rise.

At the current speed, he would reach the sea surface in about 20 minutes. Even though the submarine isolated most of the pressure, the accelerated ascent still made Shen Xu feel uncomfortable.

The higher you go, the more light reaches the seabed.

At the seaside base in City A, Jiang Lin, Wen Yan and a group of people gathered around the radio.

"I think we have to go to City B, otherwise the survivor will be too isolated and helpless." Jiang Lin frowned. Everyone had been arguing since receiving this message.

According to Wen Tingjun, all the survivors in City B should be in the underwater base, and the person who came up is likely the only human in City B.

Cui Yawen prepared food for them to eat on the road for the next few days. Wen Yan drove the four of them on the road, and this time Zhong Xin also joined their team.

In addition to picking up people who came up from the bottom of the sea, the purpose of this trip was to see if the same mutation had occurred in City B and whether zombies still existed.

Jiang Lin sat in the back seat by the window. Wen Yan drove all the way, changing the road below to the expressway she had used before.

City A and City B are adjacent to each other, and after two hours it entered the territory of City B.

"It's about half an hour's distance from here to the coordinates." Jiang Lin looked at the navigation on the bracelet. The situation in City B was a little stranger than they had imagined.

Perhaps because there were no people, the zombies also became extinct. Their rotting corpses and rainwater nourished the dark green moss creatures that climbed on the city.

The abandoned buildings and cars on the street were almost all covered with this moss, making the roadside slippery and difficult to drive on. Wen Yan had to be extremely alert to deal with the strange road conditions.

"I guess the zombies in other cities have almost disappeared." Jiang Lin got out of the car. This was a suburban beach in City B.

Tang Xiaoyan ran to a nearby area with moss, carefully put on gloves, collected a small portion and put it into a glass test tube. Zhong Xin stood by and observed the movements around her.

Sheng Wei had two large machine guns on her back. She had originally thought that there were still zombies in City B, so she had specially carried a lot of ammunition with her. But now it seemed that they might be useless.

Jiang Lin turned on the detection device, which could quickly search for all living things within a kilometer. Soon she saw a small red dot on the display screen, indicating that a person was not far away from them.

"Let's go." She called out and walked ahead.

The beach here may be the only place without much green moss. Jiang Lin saw the back of a boy sitting on the ground from a distance.

Sheng Wei's hand had already touched the machine gun on her back. She had witnessed human nature at the beginning of the apocalypse, so she was wary of all strangers indiscriminately.

Shen Xu heard the footsteps and slowly turned around, and saw five people who were dressed quite exquisitely, wearing advanced combat uniforms, with helmets on their faces and weapons on their backs.

"Are you the survivors of City A?" He spoke slowly, holding the weapon in his bag with some caution.

Jiang Lin saw the diving suit that had been taken off next to him and almost confirmed his identity: "Yes, we are the survivors from City A who sent you the radio. Welcome back to land."

Seeing that Jiang Lin acknowledged their identities, Shen Xu breathed a sigh of relief. When he came up from the bottom of the sea, it seemed that he was the only human in the huge City B.

Shen Xu didn't know where to go, so he simply waited at the coordinates sent to them by the sea. He didn't expect that people from City A would really come, and come so quickly.

"Where are the zombies now?" Shen Xu stood up from the ground and packed up the pile of expensive diving equipment. If he just threw it away, Song Si would definitely scold him.

"At least they've disappeared from City A and City B. Now our new enemy is the mutant plants," Jiang Lin said, looking him in the eye. The man in front of him had pale skin, but his muscles were well-maintained, showing no signs of atrophy from being under the sea for so long. It looked like he'd been training for a long time.

"Plants?" Shen Xu was a little bit unbelievable. Although he had heard them talk about mutated plants on the radio clock, when he escaped, the whole world was still barren.

Jiang Lin didn't have time to answer so many of his questions. They were far away from City A, and there were too many uncertainties. They needed to get back as soon as possible: "Would you like to go back to City B with us?"

Shen Xu's eyes quickly swept across the faces of the five people. He knew that he didn't have much time to hesitate, and there was nothing to hesitate about: "I'll go."

The armored vehicle sped back to City A again, this time with Jiang Lin behind the wheel. Shen Xu watched the scene speeding past outside the window. The buildings in his memory were now dilapidated and covered in green moss.

"Is this the compilation plant you mentioned?" Shen Xu asked, pointing at the moss outside.

"No, you can see for yourself when you get to City A." Wen Yan looked in the direction he pointed.

"Not necessarily. All plants that appear now are worthy of vigilance." Jiang Lin glanced out the window. The mosses that spread throughout City B always made her feel a little panicked.

Things may not be that simple.

The image of City B gradually faded from their minds as they drove onto the expressway back to City A. Once again, the silent city was left with only moss and dilapidated buildings.

In places that Jiang Lin couldn't see, the mosses began to move like living soft-bodied creatures, and in the underground air-raid shelter of City B, a dark and damp place, lived a group of people who had not entered the underwater base.

"Today's food." Qin Yun threw the expired bread in his hand to a man in tattered clothes with his head lowered on the ground. His breathing was so weak that it was almost inaudible. If you didn't look closely, you would think he was a dead person.

"Thank you, they seem very quiet today." The man raised his head, gently opened the bread handed to him by Qin Yun, and ate it in a low voice.

Since the end of the world came, they first experienced their fellow zombies becoming mutated, and then one day the zombies suddenly began to die, just when they were glad that the end of the world was about to pass.

The green moss substance growing from the zombie corpses has become a new nightmare. Their hearing is extremely sensitive and can detect the slightest movement. They will pounce on you, block your mouth and nose, slowly suffocate you, and then absorb nutrients from the new corpses.

Now this air-raid shelter some distance from the ground has become their survival point to avoid the moss monsters.

"Well, a group of strange people came today, and they seem to be observing." Qin Yun said: "Those people look very neatly dressed. Judging from the direction they came from, they are most likely from the nearby city A."

"City A?" The man chewed the place name carefully in his mouth.

A bag of expired bread was quickly eaten in silence.

The noisy packaging bags were thrown into the dangerous isolation area they had designated.

Jiang Lin breathed a sigh of relief as he looked at the vaguely visible seaside base and the people walking on the beach. The sea water slowly receded, revealing a portion of the beach, on which were floating the corpses of some marine creatures.

"Why do you live by the sea?" Shen Xu looked at the scene in front of him, a little surprised. He thought it would be a high-tech base.

"It's a long story. The previous base was destroyed by plants, so we moved here." Jiang Lin parked the car in the garage. Before he could recover, he heard a scream from the beach.
