Green eyes
His eyes glowed green as he pounded on the door of the solitary confinement cell, leaving dents on it one after another. The airtight underground prison was filled with the sound of him pounding on the door.
The prison guard looked at the frantic mutant and said, "Release the tranquilizer gas."
The green button was pressed, and white gas instantly filled the entire confinement room. The mutant smelled the sedative gas, stopped what he was doing, and looked at the prison guard outside through the small glass hole on the door.
"Did it work?"
"I don't know." The prison guard looking at the glass window was confused for a moment. The mutant's green eyes seemed to suck him in.
"Open the door." A low and gentle voice appeared in his ears. The prison guard walked forward as if bewitched, his hand already touching the combination lock.
"What are you doing?" The prison guard next to him rushed over and pressed him to the ground, and by the way closed the small glass window through which the mutant could see the outside world.
"I want to open the door, yes, open the door." The prison guard who was pressed to the ground muttered.
"Are you crazy?"
"You have to open the door for the mutant!" Zhao Yu didn't know what her colleague was crazy about. She freed her hands and gave him an injection of anesthetic. The bewitched prison guard collapsed instantly.
Zhao Yu stood up from the ground. What happened happened so suddenly that most of the prison guards around her did not react and just stared at her blankly.
"Hurry up and send him to the infirmary." Zhao Yu pointed to a prison guard next to him and sat on a stool to rest. He had moved too quickly just now and only now felt the dull pain from his knee hitting the ground.
"Are you okay? Do you want to go to the hospital together?" The other prison guards looked at her with concern.
"It's okay, I just fell down. I'll just need to apply some medicine when I get home."
Jiang Lin's bracelet suddenly rang: The mutant in the dungeon showed aggressive behavior and was suspected of possessing the ability to bewitch others. A prison guard was tempted to open the door for the mutant.
Jiang Lin frowned even more when he saw the message, and Wen Yan had obviously received it as well. Fortunately, the mutant hadn't been released. Although he didn't continue to pound on the door in the surveillance footage, his eyes and body movements didn't show any signs of having just inhaled a large amount of tranquilizer.
"What happened to the bewitched prison guard?"
"He was still unconscious. Fortunately, a prison guard named Zhao Yu was quick enough to hold him down, otherwise the consequences would be disastrous." Wen Yan was a little scared.
This mutant must be dealt with as soon as possible, otherwise someone will encounter serious trouble one day.
"Is the tranquilizer gas ineffective against him?" Jiang Lin looked at the public prison surveillance footage. The situation was getting a bit tricky. "Try releasing poisonous gas."
The mutant is now very dangerous, and no one can guarantee that if he is released, they will be able to quickly kill him while controlling him.
Wen Yan: "The prison is trying, and the guard has woken up."
The hospital was filled with the smell of disinfectant. Tang Xiaoyan pulled her mask tighter uncomfortably. Lying on the bed was the unconscious prison guard Tang Junming who had just been sent from prison.
"How do you feel now?" Tang Xiaoyan's voice reached Tang Junming's ears through the mask. His brain now felt like it was covered with a layer of fog.
"Not bad." He thought for a long time before coming up with a word that could barely describe his condition.
"Are you okay? Do you still have the urge to open the door for the mutant?" Tang Xiaoyan looked at him and saw that he took a long time to think about a simple question. She felt that he was not in good condition at all.
Tang Junming shook his head, then nodded.
Tang Xiaoyan sighed. It seemed that she couldn't get anything out of him. Tang Junming's limbs were now chained to the hospital bed.
As she walked out the door, she saw the dean coming over: "The condition is very serious. He can't answer questions. I suspect there is serious brain damage."
The director of the base hospital was an elderly woman: "Keep a close eye on him and try to restore his brain function first." The room where Tang Junming lived was blocked with layers of blockades, and he couldn't get out at all, to prevent him from getting into any other trouble again.
Tang Xiaoyan nodded, and the nurse came in to give him a nutritional injection and put on a helmet to repair his brain.
Jiang Lin and Wen Yan walked to the vicinity of the underground prison. The special forces had already gathered there. Seeing them coming, they nodded slightly and said, "Minister."
"If something unexpected happens, we must not let the mutant walk out of the prison alive, otherwise everyone in the base will suffer." Wen Yan once again reminded the importance of this operation, and especially warned them not to look into the mutant's eyes.
According to Zhao Yu, an eyewitness at the scene, Tang Junming lost his mind by looking into the mutant's eyes. At that time, she was standing at the button control area of the confinement room and could not see the mutant's specific situation.
In the underground prison, in the strongest solitary confinement cell, Zhao Yu and other prison guards were already there, having just been questioned by the first wave of investigators.
The small window in the confinement room where mutants can be observed was covered with metal. No one knew what was going on inside, and no one dared to open it rashly.
"Has the poison gas been released?" Jiang Lin asked.
"It has been released, but it looks like it's still alive and well." Zhao Yu replied. The mutant in the surveillance video did not seem to be in any serious condition, and its body was filled with blue gas.
Jiang Lin read the introduction on the side. This gas is highly toxic and almost no human can survive it for more than five minutes.
Even if the mutant's limbs can regenerate, his brain should not be able to escape the erosion of this toxic gas. But now he can still smile at the surveillance camera, and other people dare not look at him.
Jiang Lin looked at the mutant on the monitor. Now that his head turned, Jiang Lin could clearly see his expression. Judging from the fact that he was imprisoned in place of Chen Guanghai, he should not be a mutant with a high level of self-awareness like Chen Guanghai and Li Qi.
It is very likely that he is a mutant subordinate assigned to Chen Guanghai by Shenmu.
She stared at the mutant's slightly green eyes. Even through the surveillance screen, Jiang Lin felt an inexplicable attraction. She shook her head to drive away this strange feeling.
"Don't look at it for too long, it's dangerous. Just now, another person was deceived by his eyes." Zhao Yu reminded.
Jiang Lin nodded and moved his eyes away from the monitor. With such a terrifying ability, the one controlling this mutant was definitely not himself.
It should be a sacred tree.
Wen Yan looked at Jiang Lin's expressionless face and asked, "Any ideas?"
"Well, I suspect that it is the spirit of the sacred tree that is controlling him. He should be just a human body now." Those green eyes made people feel afraid and dared not look directly at them, but at the same time, they were involuntarily attracted to them.
Jiang Lin had never seen a human-shaped sacred tree, but she felt that if the sacred tree had eyes, they would be this deep green color.
Outside the base, Shenmu withdrew the consciousness that she had temporarily placed on the mutant. The look Jiang Lin gave the mutant for the last time made her feel as if she had been discovered.
Under Chen Guanghai's management, the Southern Base has gradually gotten back on track, and there is a group of technological talents who retain their self-awareness among the mutant population.
He had been playing dumb, but somehow he was tricked out by Chen Guanghai, who restarted the weapons research at the Southern Base. Although mutants were physically stronger than normal people, with the help of weapons, normal people could basically match mutants.
"Lord Shenmu, do you have any instructions?" Chen Guanghai felt the call of Shenmu.
He was instantly brought into the spiritual sea of the sacred tree. There was water everywhere that was above the ankles. A huge tree existed in the middle of the water, and many dark green vines hung from its branches.
The tree trunk was covered with yellow fungi, and Chen Guanghai approached cautiously.
"Jiang Lin seems to have discovered that I was controlling that mutant." Shenmu's voice sounded slowly.
There is a connection between Chen Guanghai and his team and Shenmu. Shenmu plays what he did at the First Base in his mind like a movie.
At the end of the scene, there were Jiang Lin’s amber eyes, which seemed to see through everything, but also seemed to be just slightly absent-minded.
Chen Guanghai took a deep breath. Shenmu's way of transmitting information put a huge burden on the human brain. Chen Guanghai rubbed his dizzy head.
Shenmu saw his actions and said, "You are still too much. Your spirit can't support me to convey information to you like this." Shenmu's voice sounded a little disappointed.
If it were Jiang Lin, she would definitely be its best partner.
But now that she has taken action against those ignorant and insignificant humans in the First Base, Jiang Lin is afraid that he will never stand on the same front with her again.
The mutant who had lost the divine consciousness of the sacred tree collapsed on the floor of the confinement room. He had an immortal body, but his brain was now completely unconscious. He really looked like a corpse that could come back to life at any time.
"What's the situation now?" Zhao Yu looked at the monitor and saw the mutant who seemed to be dead.
"Deal with his brain as soon as possible. The thing controlling him should leave." Jiang Lin said.
Zhao Yu immediately drained the poison gas from the confinement room. The special forces put on gas masks and easily killed the mutant's head.
Wen Yan covered her eyes with his hands: "Don't look."
Jiang Lin: "Let's cremate him." She didn't know this mutant, nor did she know who he was in his lifetime.
"good."
The confinement cell was cleaned and the mutilated body was burned to ashes in the incinerator.
Jiang Lin looked at the incinerator and asked: "If you become a mutant, do you think this is a relief or a complete death?"
"It depends." Wen Yan did not answer the question directly.
It started raining outside again. The sound of the raindrops had never been so annoying. Coming out of the underground prison, Jiang Lin felt sad when he felt the raindrops falling on his body.
Wen Yan opened a black umbrella and held it over her head: "Now that things have come to this, we can only do our best to deal with it. How is your peach blossom growing?"
"It's okay." Jiang Lin was not interested.
"Well, that variety is easy to grow. It should bloom in spring, and then there will be peaches." Wen Yan looked at her with a smile.
"I don't know if I can survive until spring." Jiang Lin sighed.
Wen Yan gently poked her head: "Of course you can."
