I want sunshine
All the way to the city gate, except for the fully armed patrolmen, all ordinary people on the road were evacuated to their homes.
The foot of the outer city wall is covered with inconspicuous yellow mycelium, which is covered by the dust underneath and is not even easy to be found.
"It's hard to guard against." Jiang Lin sighed, and a familiar figure walked up from behind.
Wen Yan: "What's wrong?"
"You came at the right time. Let's burn all of these." Jiang Lin pointed to the mycelium in the corner of the wall, which had probably spread to the entire outer wall.
Wen Yan looked over and saw the familiar fungus. He set off a fire, instantly burning the mycelium in the corner of the wall to ashes.
"Wait a minute!" Tang Xiaoyan came over at some point, "I want to take some for an experiment." She took out a transparent glass bottle and filled it with mycelium.
"You guys continue to burn." Tang Xiaoyan finished her preparation and left quickly.
Sheng Wei went to other places to continue exploring, and Jiang Lin accompanied Wen Yan to burn the remaining mycelium around the city wall. The area near the main gate was often exposed to sunlight, so the fungi did not grow very lush.
Once they reached the shaded area, they found the entire wall covered in dense mycelium. Wen Yan quickly burned off all the mycelium climbing up the wall.
"The situation seems a bit bad." Jiang Lin said, looking at the wall, "These walls seem to be destroyed by mycelium." She reached out and pushed the originally solid city wall.
A lot of debris fell from above: "The internal structure seems to be damaged." Jiang Lin picked up the debris on the ground and observed it carefully.
Jiang Lin: "These little things really shouldn't be underestimated."
Wen Yan: "I'm afraid the base doesn't have much material stored. It's not easy to repair a large section of the wall." He said as he cleared the mycelium off the wall.
Jiang Lin stood by and fell into deep thought. After a while, she stood near the broken wall and reached out to touch its mottled surface. Miraculously, all the places Jiang Lin touched were restored to their original state.
"How did you do that?" Wen Yan stared at the scene in front of him in amazement. He reached out to check the wall, but there was no sign of damage. It even looked stronger.
"I have architectural abilities, so I can rebuild a better wall." The touch was fake, and she actually used wall materials from the system mall to replace the broken wall.
Wen Yan looked at her with a complicated expression: "Will it be a good thing for you if it is exposed?"
"I don't know, but it's better than having no wall at all. There are so many people inside." This tall wall gives the people in the base a huge sense of security. If it really collapses one day, the panic caused will be even more intense.
Wen Yan: "Maybe you can talk to the base commander."
Jiang Lin: "Can I see the base commander if he wants to?"
"Of course, if you want to see it, I can arrange it for you." Wen Yan concentrated on dealing with those tenacious mycelium.
"Then you arrange it for me." Jiang Lin was a little skeptical, but still believed it. After these few collaborations, he seemed to be a reliable person.
"Then I'll pick you up to meet him this afternoon."
Jiang Lin nodded: "Then I'll wait for you at home." There was no point in staying here, so Jiang Lin walked into the base.
At the Planting Research Institute, Tang Xiaoyan placed the detector in a glass cover, reached her hands through the hole in the glass cover, and opened the jar of mycelium taken from the corner.
The concentration in the detector inside the glass cover instantly increased, and a beeping sound was heard. It seemed that the detector was fine, but how could we eliminate these spores?
She picked up the prepared medicine next to her and sprayed it into the glass cover with a spray bottle, but the concentration of spores did not decrease at all.
"Failed." Tang Xiaoyan was a little frustrated. She sealed the glass cover and sat down on the chair next to her.
"Don't be sad, you will definitely succeed." Ashin walked behind her without her knowing when and gently stroked her shoulder.
This laboratory is now closed because of the presence of a spore contamination source. There are many foods that can be stored for a long time inside. Tang Xiaoyan plans to seal herself in it until the experiment is successful.
When Jiang Lin returned to the Planting Research Institute, he saw the experimenters crowded at the door of a laboratory.
"What are you doing?" It's rare that this group of experimenters are not staying at their posts.
"Ms. Tang has locked herself in the laboratory. She told us to stay away from this lab because there are infectious sources inside that could cause mutations."
Jiang Lin: "Why are you so close to her? What she's researching is quite dangerous."
"Just curious." After hearing what Jiang Lin said, the experimenters dispersed in twos and threes, leaving only one person still there. He was the one who gave her corn last time.
"Is there anything else?" Jiang Lin looked at her work badge - Shen Zhiyi. She remembered this experimenter.
Shen Zhiyi pulled Jiang Lin's sleeve mysteriously and said, "I've cultivated several kinds of plants. I think they'll be ready for mass planting and distribution in the cafeteria soon. Do you want to see them?"
Jiang Lin's interest was piqued, and he followed Shen Zhiyi into her laboratory.
"Ding dang dang, surprise, right?" Shen Zhiyi's laboratory was a mess, but the experimental table was clean. On it was a cylindrical object wrapped in plastic film, covered with densely packed mushrooms.
"There are various edible fungi on it. The plastic film can retain moisture to the maximum extent, allowing these mushrooms to grow faster and occupy less space." Shen Zhiyi introduced proudly.
Jiang Lin's expression was indescribable. "It's good, but I think the higher-ups don't want to see mushrooms these days."
"Why, but the mushroom soup is really delicious. I've been wanting to drink it for a long time." Shen Zhiyi was a little disappointed, but still tried his best to promote the various types of mushrooms he cultivated: "Why don't we go to the place where we roasted corn last time and cook some to try. I guarantee it will be delicious."
Thinking of the delicious mushroom soup, Jiang Lin nodded and treated it as a poison test.
The two walked towards the warehouse, and Shen Zhiyi also brought her beloved small pot: “It’s a pity there is no tofu, it would be better if there was tofu.”
Thinking of the white and tender tofu, Jiang Lin also missed it: "I will have it in the future."
"That's right, there will definitely be some in the future." Shen Zhiyi happily cooked her mixed mushroom soup.
Looking at the steaming soup in front of him, Jiang Lin picked up the spoon and took a sip: "It smells really good. I will report it to Minister Cui today and plant it in large quantities." Jiang Lin was a little hesitant at first, but now he is completely conquered.
"Right, Minister Cui will definitely like it."
Jiang Lin swallowed her saliva. Minister Cui didn't know if she would like it, but she really liked it. Besides, the things planted by Shen Zhiyi looked like good mushrooms.
"I must vigorously develop the mushroom business in the future." Shen Zhiyi was inspired by Jiang Lin's praise.
Jiang Lin: "Why don't we just continue growing corn?"
Shen Zhiyi was a little puzzled: "But I think corn is already very successful, I have already submitted it. It doesn't matter, believe me, my mushroom business will definitely be successful."
Jiang Lin didn't want to discourage the girl in front of her, so she said nothing. In fact, she also thought this thing was good, and it would be a good thing if Shen Zhiyi could succeed.
After applying for large-scale cultivation of the latest mushroom research results, Jiang Lin took a car towards home. She still remembered that Wen Yan was going to pick her up in the afternoon to discuss with the base director.
As soon as I got home, a familiar car was parked at the door: "Get in, I'll take you to see the base commander." Wen Yan rolled down the car window, revealing a handsome face.
It was the first time Jiang Lin saw him so close, and he looked really good.
The base director's office was in the tallest building in the center of the base. Wen Yan took her straight to the office on the top floor.
He knocked symbolically and then swiped his wristband to open the office door.
Jiang Lin's doubts were all dispelled after seeing the base commander Wen Tingjun. It must be said that they looked quite similar.
"Director Jiang, no need to say more. I will set up a construction department, and you will be the director of the construction department in the future. The employees under you will all be the same group of people who collected batteries for you before." Wen Tingjun's directness made Jiang Lin a little confused, and all the excuses she had prepared were useless.
"Thank you for your contribution to the base, but the Construction Department currently does not have a new office building, and I hope Minister Jiang will continue to serve as director."
"Those who are capable should do more work. The world belongs to you young people."
Until he left the house, Jiang Lin didn't understand what had happened, but the base's announcement came out very quickly, and the news that Jiang Lin became the Minister of the Construction Department instantly swept the entire base.
At the same time, Shen Zhiyi's mushroom army was officially approved and put into cultivation.
"Let's go. I'll take you home." Wen Yan smiled gently, without any of the cold look he had at first. Jiang Lin felt that he was more like a big golden retriever now.
Thinking of the golden retriever's appearance and then looking at Wen Yan who had returned to his expressionless face, Jiang Lin couldn't help but laugh. This was too incongruous.
"What are you laughing at?" Wen Yan turned around.
"I got a promotion. I'm happy." She touched her nose and laughed.
"I'm surprised they were all eliminated so quickly." Deep in the dark cave, Shenmu felt that the spore concentration in the first base had dropped rapidly, and he knew that this show of force had failed.
"Lord Shenmu, we still have many chances. They won't always be so lucky." Chen Guanghai said with his head lowered as he stood aside.
"Of course, this is just an appetizer. Is Li Qi back?"
"Already resting."
"That's good. What do you think of this place?" Shenmu suddenly asked an irrelevant question.
Chen Guanghai: "Ah? I think it's pretty good."
"But I don't think it's good. There's no sunshine at all in this place. I really want sunshine." Shenmu's voice was like a light feather full of yearning, "I want lots and lots of sunshine."
"But there are many dangers outside. It is safest to stay in the cave." Chen Guanghai didn't know what happened to the tomb of the gods.
"Oh? But I don't think so." Its body grew larger and began to grow upwards, its branches climbing up the rock wall. "I want sunlight now."
The debris above his head began to fall, and Chen Guanghai had to flee to an open area to take shelter. The entire base began to shake.
The sacred tree continued to grow upwards, and its branches kept breaking through the rocks on the top of the cave. Soon dust fell from above, and it broke through the topmost dust.
The warm sunlight of the autumn afternoon falls through the cracks in the roof and sprinkles on the sacred tree, adding a bit of holiness.
"Finally meeting you, Sun."
