Laboratory 07

Laboratory 07

"Professor Cui, who is this?" Shen Congyu was surprised to see Jiang Lin here.

Cui Yawen blocked his inquiring gaze: "Chen Congyu, your office is on the second floor, please go down."

The atmosphere around them became a little cold, and Cui Yawen did not hide her dislike for Shen Congyu at all.

Shen Congyu was wearing a lab coat today, which made Jiang Lin feel even more familiar. The figure dissecting the zombies on the lab table gradually became clearer.

Jiang Lin's pupils shrank slightly. She was basically certain that this person was the experimenter from that night.

"Professor Cui, there's no need to be so rude. I just think this Miss Jiang looks familiar." Shen Congyu's expression looked a little ugly.

"Xiao Li, take him away." Cui Yawen didn't want to pay any attention to Shen Congyu at all, and asked the security guard nearby to take Shen Congyu away.

The security guard obviously knew Shen Congyu, and looked at his embarrassed expression: "Researcher Shen, let's go down first."

Shen Congyu's expression was a little subtle, as if there was a hint of sarcasm and a bit of hurt: "I can go down by myself, so I won't bother you, Professor Cui." He said the last three words with gritted teeth.

Cui Yawen closed her eyes to calm down, then opened them again and returned to her usual serious and cold demeanor: "Let's go in, this is your office."

"Do you have any designated assistants?" Generally, researchers of higher status will be equipped with two assistants, one to protect personal safety and the other to help with document processing.

Although Jiang Lin had just joined, her contribution was fully worthy of these treatments.

But Jiang Lin was a skilled warrior, so she didn't need to do complicated experiments. She thought about it and sent a message to Sheng Wei and Xu Anan.

Cui Yawen was a little disappointed when she saw that she had her own candidate in mind. She even wanted to be Jiang Lin's assistant to see how the reagents were developed.

People like Cui Yawen, who are passionate about research, are easy to guess. Jiang Lin could tell what she was thinking almost immediately.

"Professor Cui, my reagent was not actually developed by me. I discovered it by accident. After my water-based ability came into contact with used batteries, it gained the ability to purify the soil." Jiang Lin lied with his eyes open and no expression.

But Cui Yawen believed it in a second: "Then can we study your reagent?" Her eyes were filled with hope and anxiety.

"Of course, go ahead and research it." The system told Jiang Lin that the technology of these purifiers was superior to that of their world. Perhaps Cui Yawen and the others could use this reagent to make discoveries and take their research a step further.

Cui Yawen was a little surprised by Jiang Lin's generosity and unrestrainedness, so she was not afraid of replicating it herself.

"However, I need you to provide me with a lot of used batteries." This was her main purpose for entering the laboratory. It would be too difficult for her to collect batteries by herself.

"That's not a difficult thing. How much do you need every day?"

“The more the merrier.”

Cui Yawen didn't stay long. After making sure Jiang Lin was alright, she returned to the office to deal with some things. There was a new researcher coming in, and she had a lot of things to arrange.

After Cui Yawen left, Jiang Lin looked around the office. As usual, the walls were covered with hydroponic plants. She looked for a long time, but only recognized the inedible green radish; she didn't recognize the others.

The sunlight streamed through the specially designed glass windows into the newly built office, making it look very comfortable. The work in the laboratory was easy, so Jiang Lin simply bought a folding bed from the system mall.

Lie down on it and have a good rest, and bask in the sun.

There was no patrol work in the afternoon, so Sheng Wei simply stayed home to rest. She sat on her recliner, looking at Zhou He who was quietly reading by the window, wondering what he was thinking.

Soon this tranquility was disturbed by a notification from the intelligent brain. Sheng Wei opened the virtual screen of the intelligent brain and saw an invitation from Jiang Lin.

Her hand froze as she clicked on the virtual screen. Before leaving, Jiang Lin had said that if successful, he might be able to take her into the laboratory, so she wouldn't have to patrol outside.

Sheng Wei didn't expect the invitation to come so quickly. She lowered her eyes, sighed, and declined. Jiang Lin could live without her, but Team 16 couldn't.

Jiang Lin, who was in the laboratory, was not surprised to receive Sheng Wei's message. Even though they had only been together for a few days, she could see that Sheng Wei had deep feelings for Team 16.

However, Xu Anan unexpectedly accepted her invitation.

Jiang Lin lay on the folding bed, her mind wandering. Her mission required her to investigate the secret experiment. Although she could now enter the laboratory building openly, how to investigate remained a question.

After thinking for a long time and unable to come up with any good ideas, Jiang Lin decided to simply replicate his previous experience and venture into the laboratory again.

She remembered that last time she blocked the elevator at the back door on the first floor, but later Shen Congyu was still able to come up, which meant there must be a backup elevator.

Jiang Lin began to recall the structure of the entire experimental building. When Gu Yuzhi brought her in, she observed the elevator going up, but there was no sign indicating that there were underground floors.

Cui Yawen's attitude towards Shen Congyu is also very strange. Does she know something, or does she simply hate this person?

Jiang Lin thought for a long time but still couldn't come up with any ideas. She still had too little information.

Jiang Lin was a little uncomfortable staying in the office so leisurely. She stood up and walked out of the office, wandering around the fourth floor.

All the experimenters were walking in a hurry, with only the desire for research in their eyes. It seemed that she was the only idle person on the entire floor.

Jiang Lin wandered aimlessly on the fourth floor, unknowingly approaching the elevator. Cui Yawen had already entered her permissions, so she could use her card or wristband to activate the elevator.

There were two pots of green ivy at the elevator door. Wait, green ivy? She remembered that when she came up, there were also green ivy at the elevator door, but they were a little withered.

But these two pots of green ivy look lush and green.

The decoration of this floor was so similar that Jiang Lin didn't realize it wasn't the elevator she took. If it weren't for the two different pots of green ivy, she wouldn't have noticed.

Two patrolling security guards walked past Jiang Lin.

"Why do you think Professor Cui hates Researcher Shen so much? I think Researcher Shen is pretty good and good-looking."

"You don't know this, do you? They are... well, it's very complicated anyway."

"If you ask me, this Researcher Shen is quite pitiful. Every time he takes the elevator up, he pretends to take care of these two pots of green ivy."

"You know what, these two green ivy plants are indeed blooming better than the others placed at the elevator entrance."

Jiang Lin didn't hear some of what was said clearly, but she extracted an important piece of information. Shen Congyu often took this elevator up and down. Could it be that this elevator could go underground?

Jiang Lin tentatively swiped open the elevator door, and within seconds, the elevator came up. She walked in, but the floor selection panel still didn't have an option to go underground.

Suddenly Jiang Lin remembered something, the access card that she had searched from the two knocked-out experimenters and she had not thrown away yet.

She tentatively swiped the access card.

"Error! This card has been cancelled." The elevator sounded a warning, startling Jiang Lin. Sure enough, it still didn't work. The people in the lab weren't that stupid; they must have cancelled the two lost cards.

She walked out of the elevator somewhat dejectedly. Did she have to knock out a few experimenters and sneak in like she did that day? But that was too risky. She would have to face a bunch of experimenters as soon as she got down.

Jiang Lin walked out of the elevator somewhat frustrated, fiddling with the two pots of green ivy out of boredom.

Because the land was polluted, all plants were grown hydroponically. Not knowing what Shen Congyu could do, Jiang Lin casually touched the leaves of the green radish, trying to ease his inner depression.

She felt her fingertips were tinged with green. Jiang Lin leaned closer, feeling somewhat puzzled. They were indeed slightly green, and she hadn't picked any leaves.

Is it possible that this green radish will fade?

Jiang Lin looked at the two pots of green ivy carefully, feeling each leaf with her hands, and suddenly she felt a different touch.

The leaf was hidden among the dense rhizomes. It looked exactly the same, but it was indescribably strange.

Jiang Lin had a strange suspicion: this leaf couldn't be fake. That's why it stayed green forever, and Chen Congyu always came up to take care of it to ensure the other leaves were the same color.

So as not to make this fake leaf stand out too much.

She wanted to feel it again, but suddenly her fingertips felt like they were electrocuted, and they went numb. Jiang Lin quickly withdrew her hand, just in time to see the patrolling security guard approaching again.

The two security guards looked at Jiang Lin with strange eyes.

Jiang Lin was a little embarrassed: "Ahem, I just got here and I'm a little curious about the things here. Can't we go to other floors?"

"It's not that you can't go. As long as you don't go to a lab with confidential projects, it shouldn't be a problem."

"What are the other floors for?"

"The first floor is for weapons research, the second floor is for biological gene research, and the third floor is mainly for technological products." The security guard told Jiang Lin everything he knew.

A figure walked over from a distance, and the security guard who had been silent next to him immediately patted the brother who was still talking.

The two men instantly entered working mode and began to continue patrolling.

"Xiao Lin, if you feel bored, you can go back first. Your accommodation may not be approved until tomorrow, so it's a good time to go back early to clean up." The experimental materials that Jiang Lin requested had not been delivered yet, and Cui Yawen thought she must be bored.

I still feel a little guilty because I promised myself that I could move to a new place of residence today, but I didn't do it.

"It's okay. I'll go back first." There was no way to find out anything by staying on the fourth floor. Jiang Lin's hand was still slightly numb from being electrocuted.

As soon as she entered the elevator, she pressed the button for the second floor for some unknown reason. The two security guards said she could go in as long as she didn't snoop into confidential projects.

Unexpectedly, when her finger touched the second floor, the touchpad underwent a subtle change, and the elevator's descending speed suddenly became faster.

Jiang Lin thought the elevator was broken, so he clung to the surrounding metal walls, taking a posture to prevent falling.

She looked at the floor number on the panel and felt something was amiss. The floor she actually fell to seemed to be different from what was displayed.

According to her speed, she should have reached the first floor by now, but the elevator was slowly showing the second floor.

"Ding!" The prompt sound rang out and the elevator door opened normally.
