Undersea supplies
Time seemed to slow down in the seaside base. Jiang Lin was very interested in the supplies that were about to be ejected. She walked towards the beach, and the waves hit her legs, soaking her few pants.
In the distance, a small submarine surfaced with a flickering red light on its top. It was low tide, and Jiang Lin walked towards the sea.
The sea water gradually spread to her waist, and a submarine with a flashing red light moved towards her, then stopped not far away, and three huge packages floated up from the bottom of the sea.
The outer layer is a large buoyancy device, and you can't see what's inside. Jiang Lin pulled them over and dragged them to the shore with the buoyancy of the sea water.
Cui Yawen stood on a high reef and saw Jiang Lin dragging three things back, as well as the submarine flashing red light. She didn't expect that the base commander would give her the highest authority so quickly.
Cui Yawen originally thought that it would take some time for Wen Tingjun to give up power, but she didn't expect it to be so soon. But now, apart from Jiang Lin, who else can continue to lead the humans in this base?
Three huge pale yellow floating bags attracted the attention of everyone on the beach. Xu Anan and the others put down what they were doing and moved closer to Jiang Lin.
"What are these?" Xu Anan gently touched the floating bag with her hand. This thing was as tall as two of her and quickly deflated after it came ashore.
"I don't know either. Let's take it apart and see." Jiang Lin opened the airtight zipper, and the things inside appeared in front of everyone.
The bag that Jiang Lin opened contained three boxes of food: a box of canned meat, a box of canned fruit, and a box of freeze-dried canned vegetables.
"These are all good stuff." Xu Anan's eyes lit up as she looked at the cans.
Sheng Wei and Tang Xiaoyan opened their weapons and clothes. Looking at the brand new combat uniforms inside, Jiang Lin took out a set of her own size. She had evacuated from the First Base in such a hurry that she had missed her combat uniforms for a long time.
As for Sheng Wei, he picked up the heaviest machine gun, which looked like it could sweep away a large number of enemies. Sheng Wei's eyes lit up and he stroked the gun like a treasure.
Jiang Lin didn't like heavy weapons like this, so she picked out a small gun that suited her best. It was probably a laser gun with four replacement chambers and an energy chamber that could fire 400 rounds. Jiang Lin was very satisfied with this weapon.
There were so many good things in the three floating bags thrown up at random, almost filling up the things that the seaside base was most lacking. Jiang Lin could imagine how many good things were placed in the safe house under the sea.
It was understandable why some cities chose to live in safe houses away from land; it was indeed a great temptation. But Jiang Lin looked up at the sky. She couldn't even accept being locked up in a medical cabin, let alone living deep in the sea for the rest of her life.
Jiang Lin returned to his hut with the weapons and food he had been assigned. Seeing that Wen Yan was able to go out into the fields today, he walked slowly towards him.
"Your legs can walk now." Jiang Lin walked around him in surprise.
"It's like this. I can't stay in the hospital anymore. Would you like some vegetable soup?" Wen Yan shook the cans and food he was given.
"Do you want to make it? I want to drink it." Jiang Lin still remembered the taste of his cooking. It was the best she had ever tasted in all these years. Even in the end times when food was scarce, Wen Yan could still make a lot of delicious food.
Jiang Lin's home was relatively well-furnished; she had redeemed some simple kitchenware from the system mall. Wen Yan poured the freeze-dried vegetables into the soup pot and added some canned meat.
Because the canned meat is salty and can enhance the taste of the soup, Jiang Lin used flour and sweet potatoes that he brought back from the granary of the first base to make a few sweet potato buns as the main dish.
While the soup was still bubbling, the aroma wafted out. Xu Anan poked her head in from the window and said, "What delicious food are you eating? It smells so good." She had originally come to give Jiang Linsong the grilled squid she had prepared, but she didn't expect that she ate it much better than she did.
Xu Anan couldn't move at the aroma, so Wen Yan served her a bowl. Jiang Lin took a sip of soup and a bite of grilled squid, and felt all the fatigue of the day disappear.
Wen Yan steamed sweet potato buns, which tasted sweet and soft. She ate two in one go and lay on the clean floor to digest them. “It feels like I haven’t eaten something this delicious in a long time.”
She hasn't eaten much these days at the beach.
Xu Anan lay down beside her and rubbed her stomach to help digest the food: "It's delicious."
At the Southern Base, Li Qi was called to the place where Shenmu's clone was: "I heard that you saw Jiang Lin when you were at the First Base?" Shenmu asked her.
Li Qi touched the wound at the corner of his mouth that hadn't healed yet: "Yes, I had a fight with her. She came back to get supplies. I guess life at the seaside isn't so comfortable anymore."
Shenmu paused: "How does she look?"
Li Qi thought of the fierce eyes and hard muscles that day and was distracted for a second: "Not bad, even more ruthless than before, every move is fatal."
Shenmu could actually check Li Qi's memory directly, but she couldn't understand that kind of emotion, so she preferred to directly ask these controlled humans.
"Okay, I understand. Next time you see her, I hope you can bring her to me." The branch of the sacred tree patted Li Qi's shoulder and watched her walk out of the garden where her clone was.
Qu Mo: "How is it? She didn't make things difficult for you, did she?" He knew that Li Qi and Jiang Lin had a fight at the First Base, because he was the one who treated Li Qi's wounds.
Li Qi shook his head: "No, she just asked me about the day I met Jiang Lin." As he spoke, he accidentally pulled the wound on the corner of his mouth that had not yet healed. Li Qi hissed: "She has changed too. We have all changed."
Li Qi looked into the distance. She was becoming more and more envious of Jiang Lin. She looked at her wrist. Except for the wound on her face, all the wounds on her body had healed. This was the healing power given to her by the sacred tree.
But if she had a choice, she would rather be a human.
As a human being, Jiang Lin and her companions survived well in the apocalypse. If she had not mutated, she would have been able to survive well with her own abilities.
This immortal body is of little use to her.
Chen Guanghai stood on the balcony of his office. He had been feeling uneasy for the past few days since he saw the First Base turned into ruins. He often thought of his two children at the First Base.
Did they survive the disaster that was comparable to a major earthquake? Shenmu told me that even Wen Yan was seriously injured, so the chances of his children surviving should be very slim.
He has been numb himself by being busy these days, but in his spare time he often thinks of some things in the past.
At night, when everyone was asleep, it began to rain again. The land near the First Base had turned back into normal soil due to Jiang Lin's purifier.
The soil near the seaside base, where planting was permitted, was purified. The sacred tree stretched its branches at night, and the dormant seeds within the soil began to awaken.
They grew at a rapid pace, and soon the entire ruins of the First Base were squeezed under by plants emerging from the soil.
These plants not only grew rapidly but also grew huge. The ones in Jiang Lin's yard were particularly outstanding. Under the catalysis of rain and sacred trees, those fruit trees grew directly to the height of three stories.
It’s just that the fruits hanging on it look strange, not like ordinary fruits.
"Ahhhhh!" Jiang Lin was awakened by screams early in the morning. She crawled out of the sleeping bag. To be honest, this sleeping bag was quite comfortable at the beach.
I was wrapped tightly from head to toe. When I slept at night, I listened to the sound of wind and rain outside and felt very safe wrapped in the sleeping bag.
She opened her door and walked out. Many people who were woken up came out of their small houses.
"What happened?" Jiang Lin looked at Wen Yan not far away. Wen Yan woke up early. He had the habit of doing morning exercises and had already run several laps downstairs.
"Well, the plants have grown." Wen Yan said lightly.
"So fast?" Jiang Lin was a little surprised. Even with the system's accelerating potion, the plants couldn't grow overnight.
"Well, these plants are quite different." Wen Yan didn't know how to describe it. The place where they lived was relatively high and full of sand and gravel. There was no place for planting. The planting area was not far below.
Wen Yan took Jiang Lin to a place where they could see below.
Jiang Lin looked down, and the scene below was beyond her imagination. Densely packed, enormous plants covered the entire purified land. Because Cui Yawen had planted many pumpkin seeds this time, each yellow pumpkin below was two cubic meters in size.
"I'm not dreaming, am I?" Jiang Lin pinched Wen Yan's face.
"It hurts, it hurts." Wen Yan covered his red face.
"Yes, he is awake. Let's go down and take a look." Jiang Lin took Wen Yan's hand and ran downstairs. There were many people watching the fun along the way.
But when we got to the bottom, no one could laugh anymore.
Because the person who screamed was now tightly tied up by the pumpkin vines: "This plant will attack people!" the trapped girl shouted.
She was one of the first people to watch the fun, but she didn't expect that as soon as she approached the pumpkins, she was tied up by the pumpkin vines and couldn't move at all.
Wen Yan burned the vines, and the girl finally escaped from the pumpkin pile.
However, Wen Yan's action of burning the plants angered the mutated plants. The pumpkin vines began to move, densely surrounding Wen Yan, and Jiang Lin next to him was also affected.
"Don't burn it all. Stir-fried pumpkin vines are delicious." Jiang Lin's mind was filled with the sweet and fragrant roasted pumpkin and stir-fried pumpkin vines.
The pumpkin vines had already surrounded them. Jiang Lin was not afraid at all. She reached out and pulled off a piece of pumpkin vine: "It's so thick, won't it be a bit tough to eat?"
"This mutated plant is different and harder to pick." Jiang Lin complained. If she wasn't so strong, she wouldn't be able to pick the pumpkin vine.
Maybe she was too arrogant, and the pumpkin vines actually retreated.
"Is this edible?" someone in the crowd asked in a low voice.
Jiang Lin was also struggling with this. She really wanted to eat roasted pumpkin.
