wide awake
Jiang Lin's hand touched the outer shell of the medical cabin, and Wen Yan's eyelids inside moved slightly and he opened his eyes.
As soon as he opened his eyes, he saw Jiang Lin standing outside the medical cabin with his eyes wide open.
"It's great that I see you the first thing I see when I wake up." Wen Yan's voice was a little muffled through the medical cabin. He struggled to sit up, and the next second his expression was not right.
"Don't move. The doctor said you will recover slowly in a few days." Jiang Lin explained through the medical cabin.
Wen Yan gave up trying to get up and continued lying down: "Where are we now?" His face looked relaxed and had no special expression.
Jiang Lin secretly breathed a sigh of relief: "At the beach, we were here last time."
"How many people survived?" Wen Yan nodded and continued to ask. When Jiang Lin finished speaking, he seemed to faintly smell the scent of sea breeze in the medical cabin.
"Not many." Jiang Lin's throat felt a little uncomfortable. Compared with the number of survivors in the First Base, there were really few people still alive.
Wen Yan nodded: "Then you must be very busy now." He felt a little guilty that he could only lie here and could not help.
"Fortunately, Professor Cui and the others are quite busy." Jiang Lin sat next to him and chatted with him for a while before being called away. She was indeed very busy now. The First Base planned to open a new survival point near the beach.
She walked outside. It was afternoon and the sun was shining brightly on the beach. She simply walked barefoot on the beach and felt the shell fragments on the ground.
She walked to another slightly harder area where construction workers had already started working. The earthquake truck had minimal equipment.
The surviving construction team members then put sand into the material machine to make the materials needed for the exterior wall. After all, when summer comes, there may be strong winds here, and it is not possible to live in emergency tents all the time.
Jiang Lin walked over. "Don't bother. I can just generate whatever materials you need." This wasn't the first time the construction worker had worked with her. He handed her a rough, already-drawn blueprint. "This is the toilet and shower room."
Both buildings were very simple, and Jiang Lin copied them according to the blueprint in just a few minutes. In the distance, the machine for distilling water vapor was working hard under the sun. Even in this situation, everyone was still trying to survive.
Jiang Lin worked with the construction department for an entire afternoon when he saw a tanned Cui Yawen coming back from outside. She looked excited: "We brought in a lot of soil today. Once the soil is paved, we can get back to farming."
She directed others to dump the soil in the designated place. Everyone on the beach was busy doing what they could, probably because people can forget a lot of things when they are busy.
Chen Guanghai came to the ruins of the first base again. The second time he saw the situation here, it was still hard to accept. He took a deep breath and stepped into the ruins.
The surrounding area collapsed severely. Chen Guanghai had lived here for many years and relied on his memory to walk to the original location of the experimental department.
The building now lies on the ground, with its debris scattered around.
In the distance, there were dots of blue light. Chen Guanghai walked over and used his hands to move away the soil and building debris blocking the surface. This should be the core of the first base, a place that stored a lot of plants and civilizations.
It was still lying safely underground, and Chen Guanghai felt inexplicably relieved.
"How about you find a way to rebuild it?" Shenmu's voice came from his mind.
"I may not be able to do it." Chen Guanghai was silent for a moment and finally told the truth. Shenmu did not respond to him for a long time. Just when he thought Shenmu would not reply, she spoke.
"Forget it, let's go back and build the southern base." Shenmu was a little disappointed. As far as she knew, Jiang Lin seemed to have a special ability that allowed him to build quickly.
It seems that Chen Guanghai does not have this ability. The more she compares, the more Shenmu feels that this matter is too impulsive, but after a while she feels at ease again.
No matter sooner or later, she and Jiang Lin were already on opposite sides. If Jiang Lin had enough ability, Shenmu had no doubt that she could kill her immediately.
Dinner at the seaside base consisted of various freshly caught seafood, cooked in the simplest way. Xu Anan set up a simple grill in an open space.
"You're really good at making this kind of thing." Sheng Wei put the fish he was assigned on the grill, and the fire made a sizzling sound on the fish.
"That's right." Xu Anan raised her chin proudly. She was also grilling her own food. Several people gathered around a fire, grilling their own food.
Although the base now provides cooked food, it is sloppier than before. Xu Anan doesn’t like seafood very much, so it tastes better if grilled.
"It's a pity there are no spices." Tang Xiaoyan sighed.
Ah Xin sat beside and enjoyed the sea breeze. He didn't need to eat, so he didn't want to waste food. After all, food is very important in the end times.
The temperature here was significantly lower at night. When they came out, everyone was panicking and hadn't brought anything with them. Xu Anan sniffed, "Let's go back to the tent. It's so cold. Isn't Jiang Lin back yet?"
"She must be very busy lately." Sheng Wei simply cleaned up the food they had eaten and put it in the centralized garbage disposal area.
"What is she busy with?" Tang Xiaoyan and Xu Anan both looked at Sheng Wei.
"I'm not too sure. They should be discussing building a house. We can't always live in tents." Sheng Wei didn't know much about it at first. When he was helping today, he saw Jiang Lin looking at the blueprints from a distance.
"What kind of house will be built?" Xu Anan became interested after hearing this.
Sheng Wei shook his head helplessly. The tent blocked the sea breeze to a great extent, and the temperature rose a lot.
Jiang Lin is now standing at the location chosen by the Construction Department after today's survey. This is really a good place. The terrain is relatively high, and the ground below is basically made of stones and is relatively flat.
She wrapped her warm blanket tighter around herself; the sea breeze at night was really unbearable.
"Why don't we do it tomorrow?" The person who designed the architectural drawings looked at Jiang Lin's lips, which were a little purple from the cold. Everyone had been busy all day, and it didn't seem like a good idea to continue working late.
"No need, let's solve it as soon as possible." Jiang Lin shook his head.
Cui Yawen and some people carried up the heating equipment, and the temperature around them rose a lot. With the help of the lighting, Jiang Lin started building directly in the planned area.
"110 exchange materials, we need seaside building materials that are wind-resistant and moisture-resistant." Jiang Lin communicated with the system in his mind and found the suitable materials as quickly as possible.
All the buildings are not very tall, the tallest one is only three stories high, and they are all relatively low houses. From the beach, a relatively flat road has been built all the way up to this high place.
After finishing the last small house, Jiang Lin was a little tired. She hadn't eaten anything all day and was busy like a top. Cui Yawen supported her from behind and stuffed a piece of candy into her mouth.
Jiang Lin opened his eyes wide: "Where did it come from?" Sweetness spread in his mouth.
"Emergency supplies in the earthquake car, candy is easy to carry." Cui Yawen saw that she hadn't eaten much today, so she put some in her pocket: "Go and rest quickly."
Jiang Lin nodded and walked down the path they had just opened. The moonlight shining on the sea looked cold and deserted. When she returned to the tent, everyone was almost asleep.
She crawled into her sleeping bag, her body temperature quickly recovered, and she soon fell asleep.
The next day, Jiang Lin was woken up by the sound of people packing up. Actually, there was nothing to pack up, mainly just packing up his tent.
No one had the heart to wake her up, so they never started dismantling the tent.
Jiang Lin was still a little dazed when she woke up. She rubbed her face and slowly came to her senses: "We're moving."
Most of the tents, big and small, on the beach had been packed up. Seeing Jiang Lin get up, everyone started packing up their tents as well, carrying their sleeping bags and walking towards the high ground where they had built their houses yesterday.
Other heavy items were moved using earthquake trucks.
Jiang Lin was assigned a separate small house, a simple outdoor cooking equipment, a small heater and a sleeping bag for the past few days.
Everyone has almost the same configuration. Wen Yan can already leave the medical cabin, and the small house he was assigned is very close to hers.
Although he can leave the medical cabin, he still needs to use a wheelchair for a period of time. After the doctor's assessment, he said: "The recovery is quite good. He should be able to move around normally in a few days."
Medical resources are limited nowadays, and Wen Yan's ability to recover so quickly has exceeded everyone's imagination.
Cui Yawen cultivated a vegetable patch below and began to sow seeds. A group of people followed her to water and dig the soil. Jiang Lin had been busy all day yesterday and could have a good rest today. She came out of her small house and walked towards where Wen Yan was.
That is now a temporary hospital.
Wen Yan was having lunch, milky fish soup, grilled squid and oysters.
"The food is good." Jiang Lin walked in from outside. The decoration of the temporary hospital was even more perfunctory. There were only basic medical equipment and a few beds.
"Would you like to eat some together?"
Jiang Lin took a sip of the fish soup. She was not used to the fishy smell and put down the bowl: "Do you feel better today?" She was particularly worried about whether Wen Yan would be able to walk in the future.
"Don't worry, the doctor said it will be fine in a few days." Seeing that Wen Yan looked good, Jiang Lin's worries were relieved a lot.
"It's you, you didn't eat and rest well." Wen Yan looked at Jiang Lin. She had lost a lot of weight in just a few days. She ran on the beach every day and had become a lot darker.
The skin turns into a healthy wheat color.
Wen Yan: "Have you ever been back to the First Base? I think there should be a lot of food that can be dug out from the ground." The granary of the First Base is also underground and is very sturdy.
Jiang Lin nodded thoughtfully: "Yes, I have to go back." It would be best if I could bring out flour, sweet potatoes and rice.
Thinking of this, she couldn't sit still anymore. Wen Yan looked at her with a smile and said, "Go quickly."
Jiang Lin waved to him and found Cui Yawen: "I want a car to go back and see if I can bring back some food."
Cui Yawen patted her forehead and said, "Forget about this matter. There may indeed be a lot of surviving food in the base, but it should be very dangerous."
"You can give it a try even if it's dangerous." Jiang Lin knew what Cui Yawen was afraid of. It was nothing more than the sacred tree attacking again.
