Chapter 230 Goodbye Aunt Lin

Sun Yuqi walked around the two-bedroom, one-living-room house and looked at the furnishings inside. Unexpectedly, after a few years, the people on the street had changed the furnishings inside the house. Sun Yuqi regretted renting out the house for a moment, but then she thought that nothing is static in time. She had already put her mother's things into the space back then, and now she had six years' worth of things, so she didn't care anymore.

The two walked around the house and the yard before locking the door again and leaving. Just after locking the door, they saw a woman in her forties walking towards them with a basket of vegetables. She looked at Sun Yuqi and suddenly stopped.

"You are...Sun Meizi's daughter, Yuqi, right?"

Sun Yuqi didn't recognize the aunt at first, but when the aunt started talking, Sun Yuqi remembered that this aunt was her neighbor Aunt Lin.

"You are Aunt Lin, right? I am Yuqi!"

When Aunt Lin heard it was Sun Yuqi, she spoke in a loud voice.

"Hey, it's you, girl. I heard from my sister that you went to Northeast China to work in the production team. Are you still in Northeast China now?"

Sun Yuqi knew that Aunt Lin had a loud voice and usually spoke in a loud voice. She was also very straightforward, so she smiled and said, "No, I was admitted to Beijing University a few years ago, and I have been working in Beijing for many years. I am married and live in Beijing now."

Aunt Lin was also very happy when she heard that Sun Yuqi was married. She took Sun Yuqi aside and talked for a long time. She insisted on inviting Sun Yuqi to her home for dinner. Sun Yuqi politely declined and Aunt Lin let her go.

On the way back to the guesthouse, Lin Muren smiled and said, "This Aunt Lin has the same surname as me, Lin."

Sun Yuqi smiled.

"Do you know? When my mother died of a serious illness, I was only sixteen years old. I was spoiled by her and didn't understand anything. So I went to find Aunt Lin. It was Aunt Lin who went to the neighborhood committee office and asked Aunt Lin and others to come forward to handle my mother's funeral. Oh, I forgot to tell you, the Aunt Lin I'm talking about is Aunt Lin's sister from the same clan."

The next morning, Sun Yuqi and Lin Muren went to the local supply and marketing cooperative, bought a lot of things and took them to Aunt Lin's house. It was Aunt Lin's daughter-in-law Liu Qingmei who started the meeting. When Liu Qingmei saw Sun Yuqi, she didn't look surprised. She knew that Sun Yuqi would come in July, so she smiled.

"Sister is here, come in quickly, my mother is in the room."

The two entered the house, and Aunt Lin, who had heard the sound, also came out and smiled when she saw Sun Yuqi.

"Oh, I was just thinking you'd be here sometime soon, so hurry up and sit down."

After some pushing and shoving, they finally sat down. Because time was tight, Sun Yuqi did not delay but went straight to the point.

"Aunt Lin, you know I'm working in Beijing right now. I don't have any plans to sell the house here for the time being, so I'm thinking of renting it out. However, I'm afraid I don't have time to take care of these things, so I thought of letting Aunt Lin take care of it. I'll treat the annual rent as her hard work fee. If I ever want to come back to live in An County, I can take it back."

Aunt Lin didn't expect Sun Yuqi to have this idea, and said after thinking about it.

"Yuqi, I can help you manage this house, but I don't want the rent. I can't take advantage of you. I know what life you two have lived in those years. I will save this money for you and give it to you when you come back."

Sun Yuqi was about to refuse, but Aunt Lin looked at her seriously and said, "Yuqi girl, there are many things that happen when people are greedy. I can't agree to your request. If you want to hand over the management of this house to me, I won't accept the money. If you force me to pay, I won't care about your matter anymore."

Seeing Aunt Lin's firm attitude, Sun Yuqi didn't say anything more and had to agree to Aunt Lin's request.

"Okay, Aunt Lin, I'll listen to you."

Aunt Lin laughed when she heard Sun Yuqi agreed. It was not that she was not tempted by what Sun Yuqi said, but some things could not be started at this time. Besides, there were her son and daughter-in-law. Aunt Lin could not guarantee what they would think. After all, human hearts were unpredictable. She had lived a clean life and definitely did not want to fall into this trap.

At this point, Sun Yuqi finally understood Aunt Lin's thoughts, and she admired Aunt Lin even more in her heart, looking at her with gratitude.

"Auntie, I'll leave this matter to you. My friend and I will be going back tomorrow. We still have a lot of things to do in Beijing, so we won't stay here any longer."

Aunt Lin frowned when she heard this.

"You are such a fool, girl. Now that you are back, you should have a meal at home. How about this, I will go buy some groceries now, and we will have lunch at home at noon."

After that, no matter how Sun Yuqi tried to refuse, she failed. In the end, Sun Yuqi had to accompany Aunt Lin to the vegetable market with Lin Muren to buy vegetables. After they cooked a meal together, Aunt Lin let them go.

Back at the guesthouse, Lin Muren sighed.

"Auntie Lin is a very understanding person. She knows exactly what is the best way to deal with this matter."

Sun Yuqi also sighed, "Yes, Aunt Lin is a true hero. Her style of doing things is completely manly and upright."

After the matter was settled, Sun Yuqi and Lin Muren went to the train station early the next morning to buy train tickets to Beijing. However, these were evening tickets and they could only arrive in Beijing the next morning. Lin Muren called Chen Hao directly and asked him to pick them up at the train station tomorrow morning.

The two of them went to buy some local specialties of An County and waited until the afternoon before entering the train station. In the evening, they boarded the train. This time, Sun Yuqi didn't know what connections Lin Muren had used to buy two sleeper tickets, so the two of them could still sleep back to Beijing.

At dawn the next day, the train arrived at Jingshi Station. As soon as the two got off the train and walked out of the exit, they saw Chen Hao and Mu Jingran. Without much greeting, they got on the jeep next to them. They first sent Sun Yuqi and his wife back to the Mu family, and then Chen Hao took Lin Muran back home.

When they got home, the grandparents were already up. They were old and slept less, so they usually got up early. Little Mu Qingzhuo was still sleeping soundly in bed. Sun Yuqi had just heard from Mu Jingran that because his mother was not around, the boy cried every night and fell asleep only after being tired. Anyway, he didn't look for his mother much during the day, but he would definitely look for her when he went to bed at night.
