Chapter 103 Finale

Time passed quickly, and soon most of the guests in the reception hall had arrived.

The Gilaman family sent invitations to almost every reputable family in the northern district of Piltover.

However, due to venue restrictions, the number of people from each family who can attend the coming-of-age ceremony for the daughter of a congressman's family is limited.

Basically, the head of the family would bring one to three outstanding and excellent descendants out to see the world, or intentionally instruct them to establish good relationships with certain families.

There were probably more than two hundred guests gathered in the reception hall of Jiraman's wing house, which could easily accommodate hundreds of people.

Including the servants coming and going and entertaining the guests, there were almost five hundred of them, making the place seem a little crowded.

But even so, the entire hall is divided into two parts.

A group of young juniors gathered in groups of two or three, chatting with each other, on one side of the hall.

On the other side, the heads of the major families were complimenting each other, toasting each other, and building relationships.

Caitlin's father, Elro, was also among them, entertaining several council members.

Mel and Jace stood together, at the edge of the area. From time to time, they smiled and chatted with the heads of small families who came to greet Mel and get to know him, and took a sip of champagne from their glasses.

The time has not come yet, and neither Lady Karina nor Caitlin has appeared.

Li Lin sat bored on a chair by the wall for guests to rest, and perfunctorily dealt with the girls from other families who came to chat with him and had "plots" against him.

Soon, as the first chime of Li Weike's clock in the corner of the reception hall rang, the noisy crowd instantly quieted down.

When the eighth long chime of the clock gradually faded away, the curtain of the high platform at the end of the ceremony hall facing the luxurious double doors was lifted.

Wearing a custom-made evening gown by Gilaman, Mrs. Karina walked with a smile on her face to the center of the stage where the Hexagon microphone was placed calmly, gracefully and generously.

She turned on the microphone to test the sound first, then waved to the servant who was operating the hextech spotlight in the control room on the side.

As the alchemical-tech chandelier on the hall's ceiling gradually dimmed, all the spotlights focused on Karina on the stage, attracting the attention of everyone present.

She cleared her throat, then put on her signature smile and said:

"May the wheels turn forward, ladies and gentlemen, family and friends, as we gather tonight to celebrate the eighteenth name day of my daughter, Caitlin Gilaman.

"First of all, on behalf of the entire Gillaman community, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone for coming..."

Mrs. Karina recited the speech she had memorized in advance, and her powerful voice echoed throughout the hall through the Hextech speakers.

"Thank you all again for coming, and I hope you all enjoy yourself tonight."

After she finished her last sentence, she waved to the control room.

As the spotlights dimmed, the mechanical gears on the ceiling turned, and all the spotlights turned towards a double door on one side.

Over there is the passage leading from the corridor of the main house to this side. Two maids with lowered brows and respectful expressions are standing on both sides of the gate.

The hall was silent, and everyone's eyes were focused on that place.

When the dim light moved to the door, they took a step forward in unison, grasped the door handles on both sides of the door, and slowly opened them.

With the crisp sounds of high heels hitting the smooth marble floor, a beautiful figure stepped out from the corridor and stood under the spotlight.

Caitlin wore light yet delicate makeup, with the corners of her mouth slightly raised and a polite smile on her face. Her purple hair, which usually fell on her shoulders, was tied up behind her head with a hairpin.

Tonight she wore a sleeveless, backless evening dress with antique blue as the main color and dark purple as the secondary color. The chest and hem were trimmed with white ruffles, highlighting her perfect athletic S-shaped figure.

An aristocratic purple velvet-edged bow tie was tied around her slender, swan-like neck, a pair of translucent white lace gloves extended to her forearms, and her small, slender feet were clad in brown-grey evening high heels that were specially tailored for her.

Coupled with her naturally flawless appearance, she gives people the impression of a goddess who has fallen from the starry sky to the mortal world, making people dare not desecrate her.

Caitlin tilted her face slightly, and her beautiful sapphire eyes quickly swept through the crowd, as if she was looking for something.

"Kate." Kalina called her softly from the stage.

Caitlin's thoughts quickly returned to reality. She smiled at her mother on the stage, then lifted the sides of her skirt slightly with her hands.

As the spotlight shone on her, she walked onto the stage with graceful steps. The two maids who opened the door clasped their hands in front of them, lowered their eyes, and followed her closely.

Standing next to her mother, her eyes still quickly scanned the crowd.

When Lady Karina announced the start of the second phase of the dinner, Caitlin caught sight of a figure at the edge of the crowd. His eyes were slightly curved, almost into a crescent shape, and the smile on his face became even wider.

Below the stage, Li Lin, standing outside the crowd, kept his eyes focused on Caitlin.

When their eyes met, a strange light flashed in the girl's eyes, as if mixed with a hint of anger from being teased in the afternoon, and she immediately looked away.

Time passed quickly, and when the elders presented gifts to Caitlin one by one and expressed their blessings, under Kalina's arrangement, all the older generations left in an orderly manner and went to another hall specially for their reception.

As the musicians of the Gilaman family played beautiful and harmonious melodies, under the orderly arrangement of the housekeeper, young people of the same generation began to present carefully prepared gifts and blessings to the protagonist of today's coming-of-age ceremony.
