Chapter 112: Commission from Piltover Security

Li Lin explained the reason to Silko and briefly revealed his ambition to him. He immediately understood and nodded in agreement.

After all, after what happened a few years ago, Hilco still harbors resentment towards Shangcheng.

Seeing the people of Piltover, especially the upper-class families, suffer setbacks and even lose control of Upper City, he naturally agreed with both hands and feet.

After discussing this matter, Hilco immediately asked people to start selecting a site for the arsenal and to collect the materials that Li Lin needed.

After things at the arsenal were arranged, Li Lin returned to Gilaman's house and fished with Caitlin for a few days.

After that, he continued to study the issues of air combat robot storm and biological armor.

Less than half of Piltover's basic power system has been replaced, and landline telephones are just getting started, so the foundation is unstable.

Therefore, he temporarily put on hold the research progress on communication base stations and communication satellites.

These things require a lot of time and energy, as well as manpower, material and financial resources.

Li Lin plans to wait until his level is raised a little more to see if it will be unlocked in the [Essence Store].

Gilaman's restaurant.

Li Lin had just finished lunch and was about to go back to his room to take a nap and continue to improve his research in the afternoon.

But when he walked out of the restaurant just now, he ran into Caitlin, who shouldn't be at home at this time.

"Hey, Kate? Don't you have any cases today?"

Li Lin wanted to hug Caitlin and kiss her, but she dodged him nimbly and glared at him.

"Stop it, Mom's still in there." Caitlin reminded quietly, "I came back today specifically to find you."

"Looking for me?" Li Lin raised an eyebrow, noticing her hesitant expression. "Did you encounter any problems with your case?"

Caitlin smiled sweetly. "As expected of you, I taught you this. Your detective thinking hasn't deteriorated at all."

"I'm still far behind you. I'm not cut out for this line of work." Li Lin shook his head helplessly.

After all, I have been learning from Caitlyn for so long, so the [Skill Panel] has two more skills: [Basic Combat] and [Gun Mastery].

As she was speaking, Caitlin heard some noise in the house, waved to Li Lin, and turned away.

"Come with me, let's go to my office. This case is quite special. Sheriff Grayson entrusted it to me."

"Piltover Security?"

Li Lin frowned and thought about his familiar background.

There doesn't seem to be anything major happening at this time?

Could it be that the butterfly effect caused by his time travel resulted in the Ionian serial killer, Kada Jhin, known as the "Golden Demon", being released early by Kushuo to wreak havoc in Piltover?

"Is this case...a serial murder case?"

Caitlin turned around in surprise, "Huh? You figured that out?"

It really is...

Li Lin's heart sank.

Fortunately, Caitlin's subsequent explanation helped him to dismiss this idea: "It's just the Zaun Sump... Oops, this is not the place to talk, don't ask for now."

She took a few more steps forward, then turned back as if she had suddenly thought of something, and reminded him, "By the way, remember to put on your power armor."

Greenwell Street, Caitlin's detective agency.

Li Lin, who had taken off his power armor, was sitting in Caitlin's office chair, frowning as he looked at the case file from the Law Enforcement Department given to her by Grayson.

HIVE Incident Report

【Case Code: Serial Murder】

[Case Status: Unresolved]

[Research Specialist: P. Roll]

【……】

He glanced at it casually and found that the case file looked strangely familiar, as if he had seen it somewhere.

Before she could think too much, Caitlin came to Li Lin with two cups of freshly brewed hot tea and put down the cups.

She put one hand on Li Lin's shoulder and supported the desk with the other, half bent over, her soft hair hanging down, revealing a faint violet fragrance that made him a little intoxicated.

Li Lin had no choice but to lift the hair on the side of his face. Caitlin's unintentional teasing made it impossible for him to concentrate.

"Kate, I won't be able to read the case file if you're like this."

He put his arm around Caitlin's slender waist and exerted a little force.

With the girl's soft exclamation, she suddenly sat in Li Lin's arms.

"Stop messing around, Li Lin~ Serious matters are more important."

There was a hint of resentment in Caitlin's tone, but the expression on her face betrayed her true thoughts.

She still enjoys the intimacy between her and her lover.

However, Li Lin knew what was important and what was not. He teased Caitlin for a while and then stopped, holding her in his arms while he continued to look at the agent's report.

“The incident occurred at an oil tank factory in the upper reaches of the trench where an accident occurred.”

Caitlin spread another report on the table. "Normally, this kind of common alchemy incident wouldn't be reported to Piltover Law Enforcement, but this incident is different."

Her slender white fingers moved, pointing to several paragraphs in the middle of the report. "The person who reported the case is the factory's private security guard. He said that several factory workers had suddenly disappeared.

"Sheriff Grayson sent an investigation team to the scene, where they found two survivors and six bodies in a cave filled with toxic aerosols and alchemical venom.

"Three of the bodies were incomplete, with signs of rodent bites on them. We initially determined they were plague rats that like to eat carrion.

"Two bodies died around this morning from an explosion in the alchemy facility. One body is still warm and has only been dead for a short time."
