Chapter 137 An ominous sign

In the center of the ruins of the City of the Sun, Sivir's mercenaries and Noxian guards were searching for an entrance to the underground.

After more than two hours, Cassiopeia, who was becoming impatient, walked towards Sivir, who was squatting on the ground in the distance, looking for something.

She walked almost silently, a habit she developed since childhood under the training of her father, Du Kecao.

It's a pity that Cassiopeia had no talent as an assassin, so her father abandoned her and focused on training her sister Katarina.

Although she heard that her father later adopted a child named Talon in Noxus, it no longer mattered.

After all, she had already made up her mind that once she had enough power to influence the secret war in Noxus, she would personally kill her father who had betrayed the empire.

Cassiopeia walked silently behind Sivir and patted her on the shoulder. The startled Sivir immediately grabbed her hand and made a counter-grabbing gesture.

"--ah!"

Sivir heard Cassiopeia's screams and immediately stopped her instinctive reaction and let him go.

"Ms. Du Kecao, why do you walk without making any sound?" She frowned slightly and said with some dissatisfaction.

Cassiopeia rubbed her stinging shoulders and arms. "Who knew you'd react so strongly?"

Hearing her say this, Sivir chuckled unhappily. "I've heard that the Du Kecao family is a notorious assassin family. You should be well aware of the consequences of silently approaching someone who makes a living by fighting, right?"

Tsk, that will just let you be proud for a while...

A hint of coldness flashed across Cassiopeia's eyes, and she cursed in her heart.

Then, she deliberately revealed a helpless expression and explained, "I'm sorry, I don't have a natural talent for fighting, so I didn't learn much about the ways of assassins from my father..."

"Now you've learned some lessons." Seeing Cassiopeia's apology, Sivir's dissatisfied tone softened a bit. "What do you want to talk to me about?"

"I just wanted to ask about the progress," Cassiopeia said, her face straightening. "When we worked together before, it didn't take you this long to find the entrance to the mausoleum."

"Ms. Du Kecao, don't forget that you provided the specific location before."

Sivir paused. "If you could narrow down the area for us this time like we did before, we might have already gone underground by now."

Cassiopeia opened her mouth, but ultimately failed to refute Sivir. She sighed and said, "Forget it. I'll try to do it before sunset..."

Before she could finish her words, she heard a mercenary shout excitedly in the distance: "Boss, we found the entrance!"

Sivir and Cassiopeia looked at each other and immediately ran towards the source of the sound.

The two of them jumped down from the rugged heights one after another and arrived at the entrance along with several other mercenaries and Noxian guards.

At this time, a dozen mercenaries had already begun to clear out a small part of the debris covering the tomb gate.

The entrance to the underground is made of smooth golden marble and has the shape of a triangular pyramid.

The tip of the mountain exposed on the surface is at least two meters high, and most of it is still buried under the yellow sand.

The ever-keen Cassiopeia noticed the marks on the metal gate on the surface, and her heart tightened. "Why are there signs of excavation here?"

"It must have been an expedition team that didn't bring all the tools they needed to dig... Apparently, they weren't successful."

Xiweier shook his head, and while calling more men to dig with tools, he said indifferently:

"Don't worry. If those people had been in, the gate here would have been pried open or blown open... in various ways anyway. Expeditions from Piltover are never short of sophisticated instruments."

Despite Sivir's comfort, Cassiopeia's brows were still tightly furrowed.

That Li Lin cannot be trusted. The almost god-like power in the mausoleum cannot afford any mistakes.

With more than ten people, including Noxian guards, working in shifts, they finally excavated the entire mausoleum, including the triangular pyramidal gate that was four or five meters high, before the sun completely set.

Cassiopeia reached out and stroked the closed steel door, which was carved with various intricate and mysterious patterns. "It's different from the tomb gates I dug before..."

The flowing golden sand has not left many traces of time on its surface, and the pictures on it are still clearly visible.

Among them, the most clearly recognizable are the eagle pattern symbolizing the Shurima royal family and the golden disc symbolizing the power of the sun and the gods.

Shiver stared at the pattern on the gate in a daze.

For some reason, she suddenly recalled what Li Lin had said to her before.

Bloodline, and destiny...

Xiweier turned her head slightly and glanced at Charikar who was on her back out of the corner of her eye.

After a long moment, she finally responded to Cassiopeia's words:

"Of course, this is the tomb where the emperor and the ascended one are buried together... The tombs I led you to excavate before were only the tombs of some nobles, which are definitely not comparable to this."

Cassiopeia was so excited that she couldn't help but urge, "Hurry up, get your men to pry the door open!"

Why does it feel like this Noxian woman is a little different from before?

Sivir frowned secretly, but did not show any surprise on the surface. She told her men to do as Cassiopeia said.

"Let them do it. It's quite difficult to completely pry open a door like this. Don't count on it tonight."

She took out some dry food wrapped in cloth from her satchel and took a bite, then motioned to Cassiopeia to go and rest by the fire.
