The sun sets in the west and the moon is bright in the sky.
It was already 11 o'clock in the evening, and the streets of Piltover were still bustling at night.
Near the house of Jiraman in the northern city, more than a dozen law enforcement officers wearing blue uniform jackets, plaid pants and black leather shoes were coming in and out of the iron gate of the yard. It was obvious that something big had happened.
In the main residence's living room, a gloomy-faced Mrs. Karina was scolding a dark-skinned woman with short black hair who looked to be in her 30s.
"Sheriff Grayson, your people still have no news of my daughter?"
"I'm sorry, Councillor Gilaman, but we've already dispatched half our forces to look for Miss Caitlin. Whether it's the streets or the forests out in the suburbs, as soon as we get any news, we'll definitely..."
"Send more people! We, the Gilaman family, have always sponsored your Piltover security, right? Now I ask you to help find someone, can't you?"
Grayson lowered his head, his expression filled with helplessness. "You know, Evolution Day is approaching, and I have to send law enforcement officers to maintain order in the city..."
"It's just a mere evolution day. Is it more important than my daughter?!"
"Dear, calm down, calm down." Elro patted Carina's back and said soothingly, "Don't you know our daughter well? She will be fine."
"Knowing her well, I know she wouldn't do anything to make us worry!" Kalina's eyes were red and her voice was choked with sobs. "She should have been back five hours ago, but it's already late at night!"
Elro sighed and fell silent, unable to hide the worry in his eyes.
Sheriff Grayson opened his mouth, about to confirm Caitlin's situation today and her recent itinerary, when he heard hurried footsteps in the corridor.
After a while, the door of the reception room was pushed open, and a thin young law enforcement officer ran to Grayson, holding his knees with his hands and breathing heavily.
"Why are you so anxious, Marcos?" Grayson patted his back to help him relax quickly. "Have you found any clues?"
"Miss Ji...Miss Jiraman is back!"
"What?! Where is she!?"
The Gilamans were startled at the same time, and quickly ran to Marcos, pushed Grayson aside, and grabbed his shoulders on the left and right.
Staring at him by two pairs of eyes that seemed to be able to devour him alive, Marcus swallowed hard and looked back at the corridor behind him.
Soon, Caitlin's voice came from the corridor: "Mom, Dad!"
"Oh my God, Kate!" Kalina couldn't stop her hot tears from rolling down her cheeks.
She immediately left Marcos behind and ran with Elro straight to their daughter who had been missing for more than five hours, holding her in their arms.
Inside the room, Grayson winked at Marcos, and the two quietly left the living room through the side door.
"You damn girl! Where have you been? Do you know how worried your father and I are about you?"
Although Karina's words contained a hint of reproach, the joy and excitement on her face were hard to conceal.
"What kind of clothes are you wearing, Kate? They're so dirty." Elro seemed to have sensed something. He circled around Caitlin twice and asked distressedly, "What happened? Are you hurt?"
"I'm fine, Dad. It's Li Lin..." Caitlin pouted and deliberately showed an aggrieved expression.
"Li Lin? What happened to him?" Kalina's eyes narrowed.
Elro also stroked his beard. "Well, I don't think I've seen him all afternoon. Was he the one who took you out today?"
"What are you thinking?" Caitlin said with dissatisfaction, "You should thank him!"
Karina and Elro looked at each other in confusion, somewhat bewildered.
"When I was out with him today, we were attacked by a group of thugs. He saved me and took a bullet for me."
Caitlin blinked away two tears, her tone full of grievance, "If it weren't for him, you wouldn't be able to see your daughter..."
Because the Gilamans regard Caitlin as their own flesh and blood, they will not allow any compromise to her personal safety.
In addition, this time it was indeed she who implicated Li Lin. In order to prevent him from being implicated by his parents' anger, Caitlin deliberately shifted the conflict to the gangsters who attacked them and put the credit on Li Lin.
The above was something she had discussed with Li Lin in advance.
As for giving him the credit and helping to block the bullets, that was Caitlin's own idea.
"What...someone actually attacked you?!"
As expected, as soon as she heard that her daughter had been attacked, Karina completely ignored everything else.
Not only her, but even the usually gentle Elro's eyes were burning with rage.
"Who did it? There are several families hostile to us. Is it the Kevold family or the Joyson family? I think those old bastards of Audilenk are more capable of doing such a thing..."
Hearing the names of several families mentioned by her husband, Karina completely suppressed all her expressions.
But judging from her cheekbones moving slightly from time to time, she was trying her best to suppress the anger in her heart.
"Is Li Lin okay?"
Caitlin nodded, "It's okay. I'll let him go back to his room and rest."
"What about the people who attacked you?" Kalina asked in a low voice.
"I told Sheriff Grayson's deputy, Marcos, what happened. He has already sent law enforcement officers to the Undercity to arrest those guys."
