At the top of Piltover's northern district stands a massive building complex.
It perfectly combines blue-green polished granite, bronze grids, countless mechanical gears and transparent flawless glass, showing a unique style that is elegant, dignified and solemn.
This is the center of power in Piltover, where the seven-member council, composed of representatives from the six major families and Piltover University, meets.
The setting sun in the early morning shines on the earth, and the cool winter wind blows away the haze that spread to the upper city at night.
At the circular table in the center of Piltover's parliament hall, six parliamentarians who had arrived early were busy with their own affairs.
"Your birthday present, Councillor Saror."
A tall, dark-skinned young woman, whose every move and demeanor exuded elegance and beauty, placed a cylindrical metal box in front of a short, fat old man with a thick beard and a shiny bald spot on his head.
"Oh! Mel, you're so polite!"
Saroo's expression lit up with joy, and he gently grabbed the small box on the table and examined it carefully.
Mel smiled. "I heard this little gadget is designed for people with sharp minds like you."
At this time, another tall, thin young man with yellow hair who was leaning on the table eating snacks heard their conversation and hesitated for a moment, staring at the small cloth bag in his hand.
Then, the yellow-haired councilor walked quickly to Salo with a smile on his face and handed him a small cloth bag of snacks.
"Senator Salo, I also brought you some roasted ginkgo nuts..."
"Ah! Councillor Hoskal, don't you know I'm allergic to it?!" Saro pushed the yellow-haired councillor's hand away with a look of disgust on his face. "What are you thinking? Are you trying to murder me?"
“It would be a shame not to be able to taste such delicious food.”
Hoskar, feeling bored, curled his lips, picked up the small cloth bag that had fallen on the table, returned to his seat, raised his index finger, picked up a piece of roasted ginkgo nut and put it in his mouth.
Saroo's expression changed when he heard the sarcasm in his words, "Hey! You..."
"Don't be angry, Councillor Saro. I don't think Councillor Hoskal meant anything special."
Mel put his hands on Salo's shoulders and kneaded them gently, extinguishing the anger that had just risen in his heart.
"Well, well, since Senator Mel said so, I won't argue with that kid." Saro continued to fiddle with the small toy in his hand intently. "By the way, Mel, when was the last time we held a parliament meeting?"
"Five days ago, we discussed the arrangements for the Evolution Day activities," Mel said patiently.
"So, haven't we already discussed the matters concerning Evolution Day? Why is Councillor Jiraman calling another meeting?"
"I heard that her daughter was attacked by gangsters yesterday."
"What?! How dare someone attack a congressman's family? Who did it? This is simply lawless!"
Saroo's tone suddenly became excited, attracting the attention of everyone present.
Mel's face still had the same unchanging smile, "This should be the reason why Councillor Jiraman convened the parliament today."
A Yodel, covered in yellow fur and with a white beard around his lips, said sharply:
"I remember Senator Gilaman's daughter is called Caitlin, right? She seems to have a good relationship with one of my students."
On the other side, a bald woman with mechanical gears around her neck, golden nail covers on her fingers, and equally dark skin responded:
"Indeed, I heard that your student is recognized as the youngest genius in the entire academy... Of course, he's still far inferior to you, Councilor Heimerdinger."
"Oh haha, you really flatter me, Councillor Woslathun." Heimerdinger blew his beard with satisfaction.
Several members of parliament complimented each other for a while, and as the door of the parliament hall rang, everyone's eyes were focused on the door at the same time.
Karina was seen walking in front with a serious expression, followed by a young man and woman.
One of them was Caitlin, the daughter of Councillor Gilaman, who was known to the councillors present.
However, the focus of their attention was another young man with an Ionian face.
Who is this?
Why would Councillor Gilaman bring such an irrelevant person here?
Several members of parliament had doubts in their minds at the same time.
Kalina turned around and whispered a few words to them to stay where they were, then walked straight to her seat and sat down alone.
"May the gears turn forward, Councillor Gilaman." Mel greeted her with a smile.
Kalina nodded slightly to her, then moved her eyes to scan the six seated people.
"I'm sure everyone has heard." Her tone was calm. "My daughter, Caitlin Gillaman, was attacked by five armed assailants yesterday."
"There's a gun?" Councilman Bolpok, who was completely covered in metal and looked like a robot, asked in surprise, "This is a controlled item."
"Is Miss Gilamane all right?"
"Has the criminal been caught?"
"This was definitely a premeditated attack...Have the law enforcement officers found out who did it?"
For a moment, except for Mel and Heimerdinger, the other three councilors all asked with concern.
"This is what I am convening the council to discuss today." Kalina raised her voice to overwhelm the others, and the entire council hall fell silent again.
