Li Lin paused for a moment. "Besides, Hilco and I have reached an agreement that we will not take the initiative to attack Piltover again. I don't think he would be stupid enough to do something that violates the agreement."
"It's just that there's no reason in theory, but Hilco still has a motive to do this. I don't trust that guy." Caitlin interjected.
"I understand," Vandel said solemnly. "Even with Xierko in charge, those chem-barons will still have ulterior motives... You came here this time to find out which individuals are most suspicious, right?"
Li Lin nodded slightly in affirmation.
In fact, it would be better to find Hillco to deal with the Alchemist Baron, but Caitlin didn't want to contact that guy, so Li Lin had to give up.
"Well, if you're talking about alchemists under their command, or alchemy barons who are dissatisfied with Silko's leadership... there are quite a few."
Vander thought for a moment and read out a few names: "Middenstock, Spender, Adrian and Raymond Keene."
Li Lin knew Middenstock. He was forced into a desperate situation by Renata and could only obtain the protection of Silko in exchange for giving up his own interests.
He had only heard of Adrian and Raymond Keane, but didn't know much about them.
As for Spender, he had never even heard of him. He should be the newly promoted Alchemy Baron.
"Spender... I've heard of that name."
Li Lin looked at Caitlin who was speaking in surprise.
"He's a Vastaya, wielding a pair of stun batons. He killed his boss, Baron Ryan Nickfer, two months ago and took over his business empire."
"Good boy, then he doesn't have much to do with the Valentina incident, so he can be ruled out."
It seems like you've forgotten all the detective thinking patterns I taught you before.
Caitlin glared at Li Lin. "To be precise, his priority isn't as high as the other Alchemy Barons. Until the murderer is found, he's still a suspect."
Then she asked Fandel, "Can you tell us about the other three alchemy barons?"
"Middenstock had a business dispute with Gorsk before and joined Hilko, but he was just a fence-sitter, wavering. Now he has reconnected with Gorsk.
"Adrian is a fully-fledged alchemically modified human. He transplanted his own brain onto a mechanical body. Perhaps influenced by the alchemical potion, he became very brutal... He sponsored the research and development of many alchemical potions, possibly researching what you would call hallucinogenic potions.
"And Raymond Keane, to be honest, this guy is a complete scum!"
It was rare for Li Lin to see the good-tempered Vander look so angry.
"He sponsored over ten alchemy workshops, and he also funded the construction of the Oswald Asylum on the lower half of the middle square."
"Asylum? Oswald?"
Li Lin was inexplicably reminded of Arkham Asylum in Gotham City, a city with simple folk customs.
Moreover, this name made him feel very familiar, as if he had seen it somewhere...but he couldn't remember exactly.
"Oswald Asylum, a place where treatment methods are inhumane, prescription drugs are questionable, and there is suspicion of abuse of alchemical drugs and human experiments."
Caitlin's expression darkened, and she seemed to harbor deep resentment towards this insane asylum.
"The Piltover police have received reports from residents of the Middle Square more than once, but each raid has yielded no evidence to accuse Dean Oswald. They have no choice but to allow the asylum to continue operating."
"That's right, my men told me the same thing." Vandal clenched his fists. "Raymond Keane is too low-key. All the rumors are just hearsay, without any evidence. Otherwise, I wouldn't have let them stay in the middle square."
He stared at Li Lin and Caitlin, his eyes tinged with anger. "In fact, some of the patients in the mental hospital had no mental problems at all before, but suddenly went crazy... If we were to say who is most likely to be suspected of producing hallucinogenic drugs, he would be the one."
"I think so," Caitlin agreed.
She looked at Li Lin sideways and said, "I think we can start with Oswald Asylum. We can sneak in and see what's going on inside.
"Even if he has nothing to do with the hallucinogenic drugs and is not Valentina's murderer, we must at least find evidence that they are persecuting patients in the mental hospital. We must not let this scourge slip through the net of the law."
"You're right, let's start with Raymond Keane."
Li Lin closed his mask again and glanced at the two "mini unmanned reconnaissance hovering balls" on standby on the right side of the holographic display.
"It just so happens that my new invention can come in handy."
