Chapter 29 Heimerdinger: You are a genius

The group had just arrived at Piltover University near Stellar Street by carriage from Unknown Square.

As soon as I arrived at the college gate, I saw Jace greeting many guests who came to visit the school.

Caitlin waved to him, "Jace!"

"Happy Evolution Day, Councillor Gilaman, Mr. Elro, Li Lin and Caitlin. Professor Heimerdinger is waiting for you in his office."

As he spoke, Jace politely made a gesture of invitation to the Gilaman couple, then led the way.

Like other areas of the city, the Piltover University campus is decorated with lights and colors to welcome the arrival of Evolution Day.

Whether they are students, businessmen, students working in the southern city's academic district, craftsmen on Clock Street, working-class citizens, or even wealthy people from Zaun, they will choose to visit Piltover's most prestigious university.

On campus, all the guests coming and going to visit and stroll around are dressed in decent and low-key festive costumes. They are all fully equipped and decorated with various exquisite and small mechanical devices.

However, as a mechanic, Li Lin can easily see that the Hextech-enhanced prostheses on most people are fake.

They just wanted to use these to show off their status and position to ordinary citizens and the people of the city.

Little did they know that their behavior was extremely stupid in the eyes of technicians and craftsmen who understood Hextech.

Jayce led the four of them around the maze-like Piltover University several times.

Finally, they took an elevator to the top floor of the academy.

Jace knocked gently on an exquisite double door. "Professor Heimerdinger, Councillor Gilaman has arrived."

"The door is not locked, come in." A slightly sharp voice came from inside the house.

Jace slowly opened the door and several people followed him into the house.

The style of Heimerdinger's office perfectly matched Li Lin's imagination of the Yordle.

There are small tables less than half a meter high, mini chairs of twenty to thirty centimeters, and various mechanical devices that are scaled down to suit Yodels.

In the huge empty room, everything is miniature except for the bookshelves that are stacked up to the ceiling in rows along the wall.

It's like Gulliver entering Lilliput, with a unique style.

Heimerdinger was sitting at the desk in the middle of the room, looking down at something.

Under his chair, a furry Poro wearing a monocle was lying on the ground contentedly, his tongue hanging out and snoring, soundly sleeping.

Hearing the sound of the door opening, Heimerdinger looked up and smiled, "Happy Evolution Day, Councillor Giraman."

"You too, Professor Heimerdinger." Kalina smiled back.

Jace brought some chairs from another room and sat them down.

Then he took out a bottle of champagne and four large and one small metal goblets from the cabinet and filled them for everyone.

"I received your voice tube a few days ago. You said you would recommend a young man to speak on stage this year..."

Kalina dragged her wine glass and waved to Li Lin, asking him to stand beside her.

"This is Professor Heimerdinger. I think you should know him."

Heimerdinger squinted his eyes, studying Li Lin for a few moments, then blew down his thick white beard. "Oh~~ You're the young man who testified at the council meeting that day. Your name is Li Lin, am I right?"

"That's right, Professor Heimerdinger." Li Lin also quickly glanced at him and answered in a neither humble nor arrogant manner.

Playing a yordle in a game is one thing, meeting one in real life is another.

Heimerdinger's eyes were filled with confusion, and he looked at Kalina again. "I wonder why Councilor Gilaman recommended him to give the speech?"

"I mentioned to you before that a craftsman in the Gilaman family has developed an invention that could usher in a new era."

"That's true, but you didn't tell me much." Heimerdinger heard the hidden meaning in Kalina's words and immediately became interested.

"Honey." Karina signaled to her husband sitting next to her.

Elro understood and took out a palm-sized device consisting of a wheel, magnet, bearing, copper wire and a small light bulb from the bag he always carried with him, and handed them to Li Lin.

Heimerdinger's eyes gleamed with curiosity.

"Professor Heimerdinger, let me demonstrate it to you now."

Li Lin put down the wine glass, inserted the light bulb into the groove on the base, then grabbed the handle on the wheel and turned it gently.

At the same time, the small light bulb lit up with an unstable light.

Heimerdinger's eyes lit up. "T-This is a generator?"

"Yes, a hand-cranked generator that doesn't require Hextech batteries or Hextech crystals as energy."

Li Lin handed the hand-cranked generator to Heimerdinger, who was puffing his beard and staring with excitement.

"Hmm... Using magnets to create a magnetic field, a coil of wire generates an electromotive force within the rotating magnetic field..." Heimerdinger's eyes lit up. "Oh, ha ha ha! This is truly a great invention!"

"This is called the principle of electromagnetic induction." Li Lin added.

"Electromagnetic induction... what a fantastic electromagnetic induction!" Heimerdinger's eyes widened. "If this generator is slightly improved, it could completely replace the current devices that require hextech crystals for energy on a large scale!"

Lady Karina smiled and said, "Indeed, the generator can change our current reliance on hex crystals. Moreover, its cost is much lower than that of hex crystals... but there's no need to improve it."

Heimerdinger's pure white fur raised an eyebrow, "Why?"
