Chapter 30 Undercurrent

On the border of Zaun's middle layer, in the underground facilities of an alchemy workshop.

A bald, burly man at least two meters tall with tattoos in the style of the Baju people of the Python Islands in Bilgewater and a thug with a spiked yellow hair were punching and kicking a young man with yellow hair parted in the middle who was lying on the ground.

The boy with middle-parted hair protected his head with both hands and curled up into a ball, "Stop, stop hitting me!"

He spat out a mouthful of blood and pleaded to the thin middle-aged man who was sitting on a chair in the shadows not far away and playing with a metal injection device.

The bald and hairy thugs turned around and looked at the man in the distance.

After receiving his signal, they pressed the boy down on a chair and put the iron rod they had just used to beat him against his throat.

"Deka, I told you that you only needed to monitor them." The middle-aged man's voice had a mature, magnetic beauty. "But what about you? You and your foolish companions actually attacked them."

He filled the syringe in his hand with a tube of purple liquid, then aimed it at his left eye and pressed the button.

"You've gotten me into trouble, and now their friend is asking around about you. I don't intend to take that risk."

"S-sorry! I really...I didn't know they were so good at fighting..." Deka begged for mercy, "Besides, they entered my territory and provoked me first!"

"You're making excuses for your incompetence." The middle-aged man snorted coldly, his tone tinged with anger. "In that case, there's no need for me to keep you..."

As soon as the man finished speaking, the bald man who was holding the iron rod against Deka's throat gradually increased the strength of his hand.

Deka's face flushed red as he couldn't breathe due to the severe pressure on his throat.

Feeling his life slipping away, he used all his strength to squeeze out a few words intermittently: "Please... please give me... a chance, I... won't... let... you down..."

The middle-aged man waved his hand and the bald man relaxed his grip.

"Cough cough cough..." Deka, feeling relieved, coughed violently and breathed in the air greedily.

With the sound of light footsteps, a middle-aged man walked out from the shadows.

He was wearing a red shirt and a black vest, with his hair neatly combed back. His face was extremely pale, and the left half of his face was almost disfigured, covered with hideous scars.

The most eye-catching thing is his obviously abnormal left eye. The eyeball that should be white is completely covered with black, and the dull golden and red pupils reflect a cold light, like the eyes of a devil.

His name is Hilco.

"If I give you a chance, I can give it to you."

Hilko walked slowly up to Deka, gently placed his hand on his shoulder, a smile on his face that didn't reveal any smile.

"It just depends on whether you are willing or not."

When Deka heard that Xierko was willing to give him a chance, his face was full of hope. He nodded frantically and said in a hoarse voice: "Yes! Of course I am willing! No matter what I do!"

"very good."

Hilko asked his men to let Deka go, pulled his arm to help him stand up, and helped him tidy up his clothes with a smile.

Then his gaze turned to the corner of the room filled with bottles and jars filled with purple liquid.

Standing there was another middle-aged man with a slightly bald head, high cheekbones, sunken cheeks, and an equally thin figure.

He was holding a test tube filled with purple liquid, using a dropper to draw some liquid from a conical flask and then dripping it into the test tube.

In an instant, countless bubbles emerged from the test tube.

Hilco walked up behind the busy man with his hands behind his back. "Singed, how's the experiment going?"

"Almost done," Singed responded, shaking the test tube and observing it.

"Show me."

Singed followed Hilko's orders and walked to a large incubator on the other side of the room. He picked up a Sphynx cat that was lying outside the glass, staring at it with a fierce look.

"Come, let's eat."

As he spoke, Singed placed the cat into the incubator and locked the metal latch on top.

In the incubator, a little white mouse was lying on the ground and sleeping.

The Sphynx cat's pupils stood up, and it lowered its body and approached its prey with light steps.

Hilco beckoned to Deka, asking him to follow him to the incubator. "Are there any side effects?"

"Not stable enough." Singed knocked on the glass, waking up the sleeping mouse.

Seeing the natural enemy gradually approaching, the trained mouse subconsciously ran to the back, put its mouth towards the tube connected to the tube filled with purple liquid, and began to suck it up.

After swallowing a considerable amount of the purple liquid, the little white mouse convulsed and fell to the ground, screaming miserably.

At the same time, its pupils suddenly widened, and the blood vessels all over its body protruded high from the skin, showing the same color as the liquid in the jar.

As purple blood vessels spread across the mouse's body, its bones and muscles began to abnormally stack and bulge.

In just two or three seconds, the little white mouse had turned into a monster that was even larger than its natural enemy.

The cat's back arched high and it subconsciously took a few steps back in fear.

Hilco and Deka both widened their eyes and stared at the incubator intently.

Then, the little white mouse let out a violent roar, and in the blink of an eye it rushed to the cat half a meter away and knocked it against the glass of the culture chamber.

A splatter of blood spurted onto the spider-web-like shattered glass, and the little white mouse easily pierced the cat's throat with its sharp teeth.

After a shrill scream, the only sound left in the incubator was the crunching of flesh and bones being chewed.
