There are actually not many places to visit in Xiongdu, except for some commemorative statues and spectacular architectural wonders hundreds of meters high.
After all, this is the political and economic center of Demacia, the most prosperous area in the western part of the entire Valoran continent, and the settlement of a considerable number of nobles.
In the following time, Sona took Li Lin to visit the Hall of the Messenger of Light of the Church of the Illuminators in the north of Xiongdu.
This was also the place she liked to come to with Lestara and Kashina when she first arrived in Xiongdu.
The Church of the Illuminators believes in "The Judge," the angel of justice Kyle, one of the Winged Protector Sisters.
But in fact, there are still some scattered records of Morgana in the church's great library, but they were sealed by order of a former king.
Demacia does not need a "corrupted" guardian, just one righteous judge is enough.
The reason why King Jarvan III was able to confirm Morgana's identity was because of the information his men found here.
Because the church was in the afternoon prayer time, Li Lin and Sona did not want to disturb them and walked out through the side door.
They had one last destination to visit, which was the War Memorial Road outside the city walls of Xiongdu. A huge human-shaped statue stood at the central fork in the road.
Galio, the Colossus of Justice.
Li Lin knew this war giant very well.
The ancestors of Demacia found the Forbidden Stone Forest and wanted to use it on the battlefield to resist the attacks of those powerful mages.
The first patriarch of the Dulang family accepted this important task and used the magic-forbidden stone to design some kind of defense for the army.
After two years, the majestic and winged Colossus of Justice, Galio, was born.
In addition to the Winged Protector Sisters, Galio at that time was an important defensive force to defend Demacia and resist foreign enemies.
Any magic becomes weak and powerless in front of Galio. Demacia relies on it to deter enemy countries and barbarians who dare to invade Demacia, and at the same time inspire the entire kingdom, especially in the hundred years after the disappearance of the winged protector.
Li Lin still remembered that Galio was originally just a giant unconscious statue.
But as countless arcane and elemental magics acted on his body, some unknown principle allowed him, who had been absorbing magic for years, to come back to life.
However, even so, Galio would fall into a deep sleep again when he was not exposed to the huge magical power. So even though there were several records of Galio participating in battles in hundreds of years of history, most Demacians still regarded it as just a legend.
After more than half an hour's walk, Li Lin and Sona, who had left the Hall of the Messenger of Light, finally arrived at the sparsely populated Battle Monument Road, far away from the bustling city.
Li Lin looked up and saw the towering statue standing on a pedestal with his eyes cast down, as if watching every "little person" passing by his feet.
His entire body was made of silver-white forbidden magic stone, with copper-colored metal decorations on his neck, chest, shoulders, backs of his hands, ribs, and knees. His vertical bronze wings and the crown-like headdress on his head were made of the same material.
According to Li Lin's visual estimation, Galio is about 60 to 80 meters tall, which is a big difference in size from Malphite, but his huge fists can still easily flatten any house in Demacia.
Sona looked solemn and respectfully saluted Galio, then turned around to look at Li Lin who was also saluting, and couldn't help but smile.
"Galio can be said to be the faith of the soldiers in the Demacia army." She said in a voice transmission.
"He was born hundreds of years ago, dating back to the founding of Demacia. He is regarded as a symbol of war by the army. As long as there is a war involving magic, he will join the battle and can absorb all magic.
"Not only that, every year on certain festivals, such as the Autumnal Equinox and the Golden Spring Festival, people would come to the Battle Monument Road to worship the giant statue and pay it high respects."
"I heard that Galio is actually conscious?" Li Lin asked deliberately.
"Hmm...how should I put this?"
Sona looked up at Galio, and her eyes met with a pair that was almost as tall as her.
Suddenly, she found that the head of the giant statue seemed to move?
She quickly rubbed her eyes and found that its head had been lowered in the bright sunlight from beginning to end, with no sign of movement at all.
Is it my illusion?
Li Lin noticed Sona's dazed look and strange behavior and immediately asked, "What's wrong?"
"No, it's okay." She glanced back and smiled, then continued, "There are indeed many historical records of Galio's resurrection, especially his first battle at Greenfang Peak... But most people think that these are fairy tales made up by soldiers for mutual encouragement."
Sona gently reached out and stroked the side of Galio's massive right foot. "Besides, how could a stone statue carved from Forbidden Stone possibly give birth to life?"
She also has reservations about the legend that Galio has a will of his own.
The lava monster Malphite has something to say...
Li Lin remained silent and thought for a moment, then said, "Is it possible that Galio must be in a place with abundant magic to wake up?"
"Huh?" Sona was confused and surprised by his theory. "Why do you think so?"
"Do you think that in Demacia's historical records, Galio was often pulled to the front lines by soldiers on bulls and chariots?"
Sona nodded blankly.
"But why is Galio only recorded as 'coming back to life' a few times, and not every time?" Li Lin slowly guided her thinking. "Also, think about it, what's the difference between the wars where Galio was recorded as being able to move freely and those where he wasn't?"
