Li Lin's idea really surprised Azir and Nasus. It was not about dealing with the Void, but about capturing Xerath.
You know, Azir has been allowing his "good brothers" to wreak havoc in western Shurima. He is not worried that the Sun City, which has finally stabilized, will fall into chaos again. This is only a secondary reason.
Most importantly, he had no confidence in his own strength.
After becoming an Ascended, Azir's power grows by one point every time the sun rises and sets.
But even so, Xerath is one of the top Ascended ones, comparable to one of the strongest Ascended ones ever - Aatrox.
Although he had just escaped from trouble more than a year ago and was severely injured by Azir and Nasus, it was a pure sneak attack and he was not fully prepared at all.
After Xerath established a new "pseudo-city" in Nerimaj near Mount Targon, he has been drawing power from the earth veins, and his strength has grown much faster than Azir's.
As an emperor, there are many things to consider.
Even with the addition of Nasus and Malphite, Azir was not completely sure of defeating Xerath, not to mention that the mad Renekton was still lurking in the desert, so the Western Expedition was put on hold.
But Li Lin actually said that we can capture Zeratul now?
Both Azir and Nasus have carefully considered the current situation.
Renekton has been captured, and Malphite has been dispatched to clean up the surviving Ex'Sai in Calix's region. It's likely that the Void threat closest to the Imperial City can also be dealt with. There's no news of the Prophet Malzahar yet, and the Noxians occupying the port to the west won't pose a threat to this war of the gods...
Unless the Targon of Mount Targon intervenes, with a mech that can easily subdue Renekton, plus two Celestials and the lava behemoth Malphite, the chances of winning against Xerath are already very high.
“Zerath stole too much celestial power and became an unrecognized ascender, without even a legitimate ascended body.
"Unless the energy of its spirit is completely destroyed, it is impossible to kill it."
Azir raised the most pressing issue facing us:
Xerath is a pure ascender, but he is very different from the orthodox god-warriors.
If it had a normal physical body, it would be fine, and it could be killed even in an ascended state, but a spiritual body would be too troublesome.
According to the plan that Azir had discussed with Nasus, he still planned to seal Xerath underground and build a cage for him that would never see the light of day.
"Actually, I've been researching a new technology lately," Li Lin proposed, proposing a long-planned idea. "If we can capture him, I can use a mechanical device to erase Zeratul's will, turning him into a purely biological weapon that obeys my orders."
Azir: “…”
Nasus; “???”
The two looked at each other in disbelief. Azir looked at Li Lin. If his face could still show any expression, it would definitely be raised eyebrows in confusion and astonishment.
"Impossible. Before he stole the power of Ascension, Xerath was already an extremely powerful wizard, proficient in ancient forbidden sorcery. His spirit was incredibly strong. Even the Grand Maester and Renekton were helpless against him, let alone you."
It’s not that Azir doesn’t trust Li Lin, but the idea he proposed is simply absurd and fantastic.
A human being actually wants to control the ascender with mechanical devices?
"If what you call 'erasing the will' is really that simple, there would be no need for me to seal Renekton and Xerath together in the mausoleum."
Nasus looked back at his brother who had fully awakened, but his mouth was tightly bound and he could not speak. He was staring at his brother with eyes full of anger and madness, and he sighed deeply.
"I have confidence. Please let me try." Li Lin vowed, "And even if I fail, I can still seal Zeratul directly, right?"
"All this is based on the premise that we are absolutely sure to take down Xerath." Azir said solemnly.
“My power has not yet reached its peak. I believe that at this stage, I am at most in the upper-middle level among the groups that have ascended.
"And peak-level gods like Aatrox, Horok, and Rhaast can all fight one-on-one in a duel. Varus can immobilize relatively weaker Ascendants with just a glance, not to mention his exquisite archery, which allows him to accurately shoot through an apple from a hundred kilometers away.
"And there was also our former leader of the Ascended Group, the first Ascended being in Shurima, Setaka, who wielded the Charikar and was revered as the Valkyrie. She could at least hold off the siege of dozens of Celestial Gods by herself."
Azir paused. "I'd say your mech is roughly on par with Renekton in his prime, or perhaps even stronger. With me, Nasus, and Malphite, our chance of winning against Xerath is only about 70%."
As soon as he finished speaking, Li Lin said: "No, Your Majesty, we have a helper."
Nasus seemed to realize something and said in surprise, "You are referring to..."
"Yes, but it's not just that."
Li Lin stretched out his hand, and the material of his cuffs turned into a projector, projecting another completely different mecha and the appearance of a space-based satellite in front of them.
"Mechanical Giant Gaiboga, and my space-based laser ray satellite."
…
…
After some discussion, Azir and Nasus felt that with the addition of a Gaborone for support, the winning rate against Xerath should be close to 90%.
There are no other threats in Shurima now, and the Belvis incident in more than half a year is imminent, so the issue of Xerath must be resolved as soon as possible.
