On the highest floor of the northern district of Piltover, in the Parliament Building.
The Tyrant Warrior transformed into a chariot and landed smoothly. Li Lin opened the door for Caitlin and Kalina, and walked straight to the spacious and empty reception hall in the dull eyes of the guards and passers-by.
The weekly routine parliamentary meetings usually don't involve any major events, and if there is an emergency, it won't wait until then. Apart from patrolling guards and law enforcement officers, there are no outsiders from other families in the parliament building.
Soon, the three arrived at the parliament hall.
It was still early, but several other councillors were already in their seats, chatting and laughing, discussing something.
Caitlin glanced at Salo and Hoskal, secretly poked Li Lin's waist, and signaled him to look over there.
"Look, they used to have conflicting interests and a bad relationship, but now they are allies." She said in a voice that only the two of them could hear.
"The Bolpok and Voslaton families are also squeezing us out in the military field, and it seems they are secretly smuggling arms abroad?
"A few months ago, I helped the Piltover police crack down on several serious smuggling cases of Hextech devices and thermal weapons. These were shipped to Noxus through the Sungate Sea Lock. The goods were printed with the logo of the Gilaman family, and they contained low-quality products with hidden dangers. They were not our products.
"But with your mechanical engineers and AI, we strictly control all areas of export, especially Hextech and energy weapons. Their sale is prohibited and there are special tracking signals. This situation shouldn't have happened."
Caitlin paused, the implication clear.
Other families have also researched Hextech devices and energy weapons, but currently, only the Gilaman family has made achievements in energy weapons by relying on Li Lin's designs.
Other families involved in the military industry simply tried to "ride on the popularity" and produced a batch of inferior products with safety hazards, such as "Vishra's Hex Ethylene Gun", which were piled up in warehouses and no one was interested in them.
Besides, apart from the Piltover guards or other families who want to purchase in limited quantities, the Gilaman family never sells such dangerous weapons to other countries, especially Noxus. This is also a law passed by the parliament long ago.
In order to avoid losing money, or for other purposes, some families secretly smuggled counterfeit Hextech devices in the name of the Gilaman family.
If they succeed, not only will it have a certain degree of impact on the good reputation that the Gilaman family has built up for a long time, but Karina will also be criticized by other members of the Piltover Council.
"The political situation in Piltover is very serious right now. Ever since your technology has allowed the Gilaman family to get involved in various fields, even surpassing the Ferros and Midalda families, these councilors have begun to secretly target us."
The two stood in an audience seat not far from the council's round table. Sheriff Grayson was not qualified to participate in the council discussion and she would come to report on the situation when the meeting was about to end.
Li Lin and Kate, whose behavior was a little intimate, soon attracted the attention of several parliamentarians.
Meier and Heimerdinger smiled and nodded in greeting.
The eyes of the council members from the other four families flickered, and no one knew what they were thinking.
Li Lin looked calm as he looked at them one by one. The intimidation in his eyes put a lot of pressure on the four council members, causing them to look away unconsciously.
"Don't worry, I know my limits." He secretly squeezed Caitlin's hand and comforted her softly.
When Kalina took her place, they all put on deliberate fake smiles on their faces, their eyes flickering, and greeted the head of the current first family in Piltover.
Mel leaned forward slightly, resting his elbow on the table and propping up his chin with his hand. "Although it's not time yet, since everyone is here, let's start the meeting early."
"Oh~~ yes, I have a very important topic to study recently, let's get started quickly!" Heimerdinger said immediately.
Hoskal looked nonchalant, pinching his fingers together and sharpening his nails with a knife. "What are we going to do today?"
"It's mainly a problem with the Hexgate," Kalina said, looking around. "Ever since the Hexgate was built, few people use cargo ships to transport goods. Those pirates in Bilgewater have been coveting our tower, especially that pirate leader nicknamed 'Ocean Scourge.'"
Li Lin raised his eyebrows, curiosity emerging in his heart.
Bilgewater's Hexgate was built right after Shurima, during the same period as Noxus's Immortal Fortress, which took at least a year.
Even if the Pirate King Gangplank was affected and could no longer plunder Piltover's cargo ships, shouldn't he have attacked long ago?
But what Saro said next answered this question: "Didn't we build the Hexgate in the territory of the Baju people? How dare those pirates mess with the Baju Church?!"
"To be precise, it was built at the junction of the northern and southern parts of Bilgewater. It was the territory designated by the Baru people for the inhabitants of Bilgewater."
Woslatten tapped the table with his gold-knuckled hands, making a sharp "thump thump" sound.
"In that case, shouldn't the Baju people provide us with more help?" Salo looked at Woslaton, scratched his beard, and looked puzzled.
"We negotiated for a long time with the followers of the Blue Flame Islands... or, as the locals say, the Serpentine Islands. They reluctantly agreed to let us build the Hexgate."
As Voslaton finished speaking, Bolpok interrupted, "We've invested a considerable amount of money in the construction of the Ba'ru temple, even alarming their elders and the True One, Oroyin. But they say they won't provide us with any convenience. If we want to gain a foothold in Bilgewater, we need to rely on ourselves."
