Chapter 4 He even stole my peach blossom! :"If Qin finds out, it might not be good."
Qin Lan had someone exorcise the evil spirit, but Jiang Xie Sui Yan still haunted her and kept coming into contact with her.
Qin Lan has always been very popular with men. During her second year of university, two well-connected young men in her social circle confessed their feelings to her, and their friends followed suit one after another…
Qin Lan felt it was a difficult situation. She had previously categorized these people as friends, partly because they were family friends and partly because they did get along quite well.
Qin Lan hesitated for a moment and didn't reject them coldly enough, which made these people mistakenly think they had a chance. So they started pursuing Qin Lan relentlessly, both on and off campus. Qin Lan was annoyed to no end. One day, she was actually quite relieved to find out that one of her most attentive suitors had suddenly disappeared. So she inquired about where he had gone.
Three days later, the truth came to light: someone saw the man walking with Jiang Yan after class.
At this time, Qin Lan was still wary of Jiang Yan. It wasn't until a month later that someone confessed their feelings to her again, and then disappeared inexplicably in less than five days.
Qin Lan casually asked, "What did so-and-so do?"
Yang Xingji turned around with a wink: "Him? He's having dinner with Jiang Yan right now."
At this point, Qin Lan still didn't realize the seriousness of the problem, until two weeks later when the same thing happened again...
Qin Lan was furious: "She's just jealous that I have people pursuing me!"
Several close friends were very puzzled: "That shouldn't be the case. I heard that Jiang Yan has more suitors than you."
"That means they hate me and can't stand to see me doing well." Qin Lanyu was still furious. She was about to go and scold Jiang Yan, but several people stopped her and persuaded her that she didn't like them anyway, and besides, these men changed their minds too quickly. If Jiang Yan liked to eat shi, then let her eat it.
As it turns out, Jiang Yan only wanted to compete with Qin Lan for Shi, but then she turned around and dumped him. What's even more terrifying is that she was very clever. Although those people didn't even get the title of ex, they all said that Jiang Yan was very good and never said a bad word about her.
Qin Lan rolled her eyes to the sky, wanting to report Jiang to the school for using evil magic and casting spells on people.
The incident that caused Qin Lan's opinion of Jiang Yan to plummet completely occurred in the second semester of her sophomore year. She barely attended classes throughout the semester, and only returned to school a week before finals to sit in the library studying and working on her final assignments.
The next morning, she received a note with a few lines of text. It was from Wei Mengli, a student in the sixth class of the acting department, inviting her to work together on a final project—a script for filming. Two months prior, she had collaborated with Wei Mengli on a script, and the two had a good personal relationship. Qin Lan studied the script and thought it was good; plus, Wei Mengli mentioned she had already arranged to meet a famous senior from the photography department, so she readily agreed.
She closed her laptop, looked up and saw Wei Mengli sitting three rows away, staring at her with bright eyes.
Qin Lan stood up, folding sticky notes as she walked. When she passed by her, she put down a note and gave her an OK sign.
Wei Mengli jumped up excitedly, silently clinging to her arms, and exclaimed in a breathy voice, "That's amazing, Sister Qin Lan! Ahhh!"
Qin Lan was startled and almost dropped her. Although Wei Mengli didn't make a sound, her movement was quite significant, and everyone around them looked up at them. Just as Qin Lan was about to put her down, Wei Mengli landed on her own and grabbed her hand, running outside.
Wei Mengli was lively and cheerful, and Qin Lan was already used to it on set, so she let Wei Mengli take her away. For the next few days, she simply stayed overnight in the dormitory, studying the script with her final project team during the day and doing her homework with Wei Mengli at night.
Wei Mengli was very hospitable, and every time she came, she would prepare all kinds of non-fattening snacks and milk tea for the entire crew. She arranged it well, so Qin Lan ate for several days without realizing that her portion was different from others. Her heart died during the busy final exam week, and sometimes when she was so tired that Wei Mengli would carry her to run between different floors.
The script was quickly filmed, and Wei Mengli treated everyone to dinner. After everyone had left, she suddenly pulled out a large bouquet of roses from under her chair, lit candles, put on music, and then the enthusiastic puppy began to confess his love.
Qin Lan listened patiently to the whole thing, then decisively refused, leaving the private room without a trace of roses. She then heard Wei Mengli call out to her retreating figure, "It's okay, Sister Qin, I'll pursue you!"
Qin Lan waved her hand without turning her head, too lazy to waste words. From then on, Wei Mengli began to pursue Qin Lan openly, but she was tactful and didn't annoy anyone. Qin Lan rejected her a few times and then gave up, thinking that having a follower was just a burden, and that Wei Mengli would eventually give up on her own.
After handing in her final assignment, Qin Lan felt relaxed. She saw Xia Ri strolling around the campus, her red dress, red lips, and red hair making her look as flamboyant as a flame.
Countless people turned to look at her along the way. Qin Lan smiled alluringly at the raised camera, her black eyeliner making her look both enchanting and cool, captivating countless young men and women. Just as she was blossoming in her own vibrant self, she suddenly bumped into two women standing face to face as she reached the artificial lake and rockery. One of them was holding a small bouquet of flowers and was handing it to the other woman.
Qin Lan didn't take it seriously. She took two more steps forward and then realized that the one who was shyly accepting the flowers was actually Wei Mengli, and the one who gave her the flowers was even more outrageous—it was Jiang Yan.
She felt a little strange, but didn't think much of it. At noon, she went out to lunch with Song Man and Yun Chui. Halfway through the meal, her phone rang. She saw it was Wei Mengli and hung up. A little while later, a message came in; Wei Mengli wanted to invite her to lunch.
Qin Lan coldly replied with two words: 【No】
Wei Mengli asked, "Even afternoon tea isn't allowed?" Her voice sounded like she was about to cry.
Qin Lan's reply was even colder: [No]
Seeing her unhappy expression, Yun Chui asked what was wrong. Qin Lan pursed her lips and said, "I ran into her on a date with someone else on the road I just came from."
Song Man was immediately filled with righteous indignation: "What kind of person is this, texting you while dating someone else?"
Yun Chui remained silent.
"You might not believe me when I tell you," Qin Lan sneered. "It's about that Jiang Yan."
"What?! Jiang Yan?!"
Song Man confirmed again: "Is it that virtuous Jiang Yan?"
Yun Chui remained silent.
"I don't think she's being virtuous at all; she's much more sophisticated." Qin Lan smiled alluringly. "Wei Mengli's fans all know she's pursuing me, so how could Jiang Yan not know?"
Song Man suddenly turned to Yun Chui and asked, "Didn't you change dorm rooms before? I remember your new roommate was Jiang Yan!"
“…Yes.” Yun Chui said only one word, and then remained silent.
"If you dare help her bully Lao Qin, I'll kill you." Song Man wrinkled her nose, and Yun Chui quickly said he wouldn't dare. Song Man ranted and raved about Jiang Yan for a while, and then suddenly said, "But I have to admit, Jiang Yan is really beautiful."
Qin Lan retorted angrily, "They're just so-so! What celebrity is ugly? Aren't they all the same?"
Song Man retorted, "You can say Jiang Yan is a green tea bitch pretending to be innocent, but if you say she's just average-looking, I can only say you have a problem with your aesthetic sense."
Qin Lan angrily pulled out her phone and immediately searched for photos of Jiang Yan: "It's just a nose and a mouth..."
The nose is a nose, the mouth is a mouth; together, the lower half of the face fits perfectly. Qin Lan paused, then added, "Who doesn't have two eyes..."
She stopped again, and Song Man even stretched out two fingers to zoom in on the screen for a closer look. The most alluring feature of Jiang Yan's face was her eyes. Her eyes were long and narrow, with narrow under-eye bags, making her eyes resemble a squinting fox. Her gaze was captivating, and the beauty mark under her eye was the perfect finishing touch.
Yun Chui was now sparing with his words: "What's wrong with your eyes? Are they ugly?"
Qin Lan pondered for a long time but couldn't find a single word to refute her, so she could only roll her eyes in annoyance and slam her phone face down on the table: "Even if she's somewhat pretty, it can't hide the fact that she's really annoying!"
In the afternoon, they went shopping and watched a movie. After dinner, Qin Lan went back to school to pick up her things.
She passed by the artificial lake again, and heaven knows, those two people were still there, sitting on a bench by the lakeside boardwalk, with flowers at their feet.
Qin Lan felt unlucky and was about to take another route when a sob drifted on the wind: "I've been chasing her for so long, why is her attitude getting worse and worse? Even a stone would have melted by now!"
Jiang Yan gently patted her back and said understandingly, "I went to the temple to draw a fortune stick last month. The master said that some people's fate is already predetermined. Not forcing it will make you happier."
"Waaaaah... How could she treat me like this? I'm a princess, why should I keep chasing after her?"
Wei Mengli looked up, and Jiang Yan, who had already prepared wet wipes, carefully wiped away her tears: "Mengli, you're amazing! Qin is so mean, just ignore her from now on."
Qin Lan's eyes widened and she gritted her teeth, determined not to leave, wanting to hear what other outrageous things these two bastards would say.
Wei Mengli wiped away her tears, and Jiang Yan opened the cake box and handed it to her: "Don't cry, it breaks my heart. Eat something, you haven't eaten all day."
"But Sister Yanyan, you didn't eat any either?" Wei Mengli forked a piece of cake.
Jiang Yan revealed an impeccable and charming smile: "It's okay, I'm happy to be with Lili and help you get through the sadness of your breakup."
Qin Lan was surprised. Such natural guidance! Even if Wei Mengli had held onto hope before, she would probably now assume that she had already lost love.
Wei Mengli looked up at her, a glimmer of hope returning to her eyes: "Sister Yanyan, you...you're so good to me, and you understand me so well..."
Jiang Yan smiled and leaned back in her chair, stretching out to relax: "Of course, who wouldn't like such a cute girl like Mengli?"
"But, but... Sister Qin just doesn't like me..." Wei Mengli was on the verge of tears again, overwhelmed by a deep sense of frustration: "Why doesn't she like me? I've tried so hard to pursue her, but her attitude towards me is getting worse and worse..."
Jiang Yan smiled and affectionately took her arm: "If Qin doesn't like it, it's because she has no taste, but I always believe that my taste is the best... Meng Li is the best girl in the world."
Wei Mengli looked up at her blankly, as if trying to confirm something, but Jiang Yan left with a vague remark and began to change the subject, taking out a tissue to wipe the cream from her lips: "It's getting late, I'll take you home after you finish the cake, remember to cover yourself well with the blanket tonight."
Wei Mengli hesitated for a moment, then said, "How about, Sister Yanyan, you..."
Before she could finish speaking, ripples suddenly spread across the lake, followed by a sudden downpour that quickly soaked the ground. None of the three had brought umbrellas, and they all panicked. Wei Mengli stood up and grabbed Jiang Yan's wrist: "Sister Yan, let's go to my dorm first!"
"I'll take you downstairs and then go back." Jiang Yan's eyes swept over the wrist that she was holding, and she pulled it away without making a sound.
"Oh dear!" Wei Mengli exclaimed anxiously, "With such heavy rain, you'll catch a cold! Stay in my dorm tonight, we'll share a bed..."
Jiang Yan shook her head and said in a tone that could infuriate Qin Lan, "Hmm... it's not appropriate, I'm afraid it wouldn't be good if Qin Lan found out."
Before Wei Mengli could speak, Qin Lan, having completely lost her temper, stormed out in her high heels: "Now you know, how about it? You two are quite a match, one two-timing, the other a smooth-talking, innocent white lotus—"
"Sister Qin!" Wei Mengli exclaimed in shock, covering her mouth. Jiang Yan's face drained of color, her composed gaze turning panicked: "Qin Lan?? Listen to me, I didn't mean that—"
"Fine, I'll listen to your sophistry." Qin Lan interrupted with a cold laugh, her red lips opening and closing in the falling rain.
Jiang Yan felt cold all over and swayed precariously.
"I'm going to escort you two back to your dorm for your wedding night. Aren't you supposed to be sleeping in the same bed? Jiang Yan, are you a robber? Why do you have to steal everything? Are you cursed to kill me? And why are you specifically targeting me to steal from?"
Jiang Yan moved her lips, but Wei Mengli pulled Qin Lan aside: "Sister Qin, don't talk about her, it has nothing to do with Sister Yan—"
"Let go of me!" Qin Lan shook off her hand and gave her a look of disgust. Wei Mengli couldn't stand her cold gaze and turned to run away.
Only Qin Lan and Jiang Yan remained standing in the rain. Jiang Yan stepped forward, seemingly wanting to lead her away. Her long, straight black hair flowed smoothly in the rain like a piece of brocade: "It's too cold here, you'll catch a cold. Let's go to the nearby teaching building first, I'll explain—"
"Stop pretending." Qin Lan's beautiful eyes widened as she smoothed her wet hair. Her red dress and fiery red curls clung to her body in the cold wind and rain, yet she still shone brightly and flamboyantly, like a flame burning in the rain: "There's no one else here, so why are you pretending to be a green tea b*tch?"
She finished speaking and walked away, quite nonchalantly. But after only a couple of steps, she suddenly swayed, and her stiletto heels got stuck in the gaps between the wooden planks of the boardwalk.
Qin Lan tried to pull her leg out, but couldn't budge it.
I tried again, but still couldn't budge it.
Qin Lan closed her eyes, gritted her teeth, and gasped for breath. Suddenly, she felt a chill on her ankle: "Don't move, I'll do it."
"Let go!" Qin Lan shivered from the coldness of her hand. "Let go! Who asked for your help?"
Jiang Yan knew her hands were too cold, and she lowered her eyes sadly, her eyelashes filled with raindrops, like wet magnolias: "Qin, I'm thinking of your health. You can't get wet anymore. We have to leave here right now."
Unable to remove her heel, Jiang Yan untied the strap, intending to free her foot. Qin Lan, not wanting her help at all, forcefully lifted her leg, her foot leaving the shoe and striking Jiang Yan's chest. Both stumbled backward, Qin Lan staggering barefoot on the wooden walkway, staring at Jiang Yan in astonishment.
"What are you doing?" Her tone softened, becoming less aggressive. Jiang Yan fell to the ground, pressing her hand to her chest, while in her other hand she held the high heel she had just pulled out.
She looked up, remained silent for a moment, her face pale. "Put your shoes on first."
Since then, Wei Mengli hasn't appeared in front of Qin Lan. Qin Lan didn't bother to pay attention, assuming she was dating Jiang Yan. It wasn't until a gathering where gossip circulated that she learned Jiang Yan was still single. For a while, Wei Mengli and Jiang Yan were indeed very close, but they quickly drifted apart, and she hadn't heard of them having any contact since.
Qin Lan pondered for a long time and felt that Jiang Yan was her nemesis, unable to bear seeing her doing well, and insisted on taking everything away from her.
"That's why I say she's a total green tea b*tch," Qin Lan continued to complain. "I don't think she likes Wei Mengli at all. The way she talked to Wei Mengli that day was so scheming and manipulative. She's just deliberately trying to go against me."
Yun Chui remained silent, but Song Man indignantly echoed his sentiments, also cursing Wei Mengli in the process. The two of them, one after the other, managed to bring up the living Jiang Yan.
Qin Lan and Song Man both looked towards the door. Jiang Yan pushed open the door and walked in, dressed in a flamboyant manner, greeting everyone: "Hi, Qin, Song."
Then he walked straight toward Yun Chui, casually took out a key and handed it to her: "Here, I'm not going back to the dorm tonight, so you can keep the key."
Yun Chui accepted the gift, said thank you, and started chatting with her. Qin Lan looked at Song Man with suspicion and mouthed, "Are they getting along well?"
Song Man nodded, seemingly displeased. Yun Chui had her back to them, so Jiang Yan could see Qin Lan through her. Song Man noticed that she often looked at Qin Lan with a very aggressive gaze, like a puppy eyeing a bone.
Song Man was utterly puzzled: "Why is she always staring at you?"
Qin Lan also noticed this and thought that Jiang Yan might hate her. "She's definitely trying to sabotage me. What good could it possibly be? She probably just wants to do whatever I do that's good for her, to steal my resources, squeeze me out, and disgust me. Isn't she best at manipulating her bunch of brainless fans to curse me?"
The two of them eavesdropped for a while and found that the two were just chatting idly, mainly talking about things in the dormitory, as if there was really something going on. Later, probably because they had nothing left to talk about, Yun Chui brought Jiang Yan over: "This is my roommate, and also my good friend, Jiang Yan."
Jiang Yan maintained her smile and nodded to them.
Qin Lan replied dryly, "I know."
Song Man was even more adamant than her: "Yes, we've met once."
"We're shooting a magazine shoot together next month, thankfully Qin is here." Jiang Yan smiled, still staring intently at Qin Lan: "I'll need Qin's guidance then."
Qin Lan heard this and automatically interpreted it as "I have to do a magazine shoot with this green tea next month," and immediately curled her lips in disapproval.
She hated people like Jiang Yan the most, who always left her at a loss for words. If the other person had directly expressed their dislike for her, she could have just retorted directly. But Jiang Yan had such a bright smile that she didn't even know how to open her mouth.
Song Man wanted to stay and continue practicing, while Yun Chui, covered in sweat, wanted to go back to the dormitory to shower first. Qin Lan didn't want to stay anywhere with Jiang Yan any longer, so she quickly left with her.
Jiang Yan wasn't familiar with Song Man, so she nodded and left alone. Song Man glanced at their retreating figures with a puzzled look, then continued to concentrate on practicing her dance.
Qin Lan felt refreshed after leaving the practice room, her expression relaxing considerably. They walked along the ginkgo-lined avenue on campus, a gentle breeze rustling through the treetops. Yun Chui looked down at his phone, while Jiang Yan sent a pitiful emoji: "Why does she hate me so much?"
Yun Chui then asked, "Why do you hate Jiang Yan so much?"
