Chapter 25 The Owl's Thought Complete Form, Ten Times Stronger When Darkened ( )...
Of course, without the resources available to Night Owl when the Crime Syndicate nearly ruled the world, it would take a very long time to build a quantum bomb from scratch.
How many years will it take? Considering the more comprehensive laws, the relatively stable environment, and Batman's permanent presence in Gotham City, Owl must find some ways to keep his activities secret.
“It’s been so long,” Thomas said to Kelvin with a smile, “Mr. Rose, I firmly believe we are kindred spirits.”
Yeah, right. I know you want to live, so I'll definitely leak the secret.
Thomas met his gaze with sincerity: "I can see that you've also experienced some bad things and personally felt the pain of living. I believe you can understand me."
Kelvin's heart pounded like a drum.
From the moment Thomas told him about it, he only had one choice left.
Join this plan, or you will die.
……madman.
He swallowed hard, feigning a dejected look: "Mr. Wayne, you have a point..."
"Wrong."
"What?"
Thomas adjusted his posture slightly and looked at him leisurely: "Your emotions are off, Mr. Kelvin. You're still not good at lying."
Thomas tore off a corner of the mask.
"If you don't trust me, then why are you telling me all this?"
Kelvin, having given up all hope, tried to extract as much information as possible, and then used his escape skills to escape and spread the news.
“Because I trust my henchmen at the Court of Owls.” His words sent chills down Kelvin’s spine. “When Night Owl mentioned wanting an unmodified Claw when there was definitely a mole inside, shouldn’t you have realized that you’d become a tool to ease the tension between me and the Court of Owls? Do you really think those idiots at the Court of Owls are talking about things that are happening now and in the future? His target was me, to prevent me from dragging the whole of Gotham City down with me because of my sense of crisis.”
...You two are crazy!
Kelvin broke out in a cold sweat.
“I’m telling you honestly,” Thomas said to him, “you are a very good claw, Mr. Ross, and I need your help.”
Kelvin immediately tried to escape, but his legs gave way and he collapsed to the ground.
“This is a modified dose of hypnotic gas for you. To prevent you from noticing, we’ll distract you with unusual words, administer the antidote under your tongue, and try to hold your breath to reduce the amount you inhale…” Thomas stood up. “This dose should keep you under control for about five or six minutes.”
He pulled a high-tech-looking collar from the drawer and fastened it around Kelvin's neck: "To prevent any unexpected consequences that would cause me to lose a capable subordinate for no reason, I need to explain this to you. This is something I prepared specifically for you. If it is detected that you have told anyone about this, it will explode."
No, it's fake. Thomas was still having a huge internal struggle this morning. He only came to his senses after seeing Kelvin. How could he possibly have developed such a high-tech thing that can detect human behavior ahead of time?
This is just an ordinary neck collar with remote control and eavesdropping functions. As for what Thomas used it for in the drawer... it was mainly used by Night Owl to threaten others, eavesdrop on information, and kill to cover it up.
“And don’t try to take it off.” Thomas straightened up and looked down at Kelvin. “If it’s damaged and detached from the body, it will explode automatically.”
Kelvin gritted his teeth, staring intently at Thomas, as if trying to nail him to the ground with his gaze.
“Don’t look at me like that, Mr. Ross,” Thomas continued. “You should hate that Nite Owl the most. He brought the news that time travel was possible and gave me a bit of inspiration.”
He then emphasized the misinformation: "If those worthless Owl Council can send people back in time, so can I. It's a place where we can easily destroy all of humanity."
Thomas intentionally deceives Kelvin, leading him to believe that his plan is to destroy all humanity in that timeline.
If there is no breakthrough, people will investigate from multiple angles, but as long as there is a clear breakthrough, people will focus their efforts on that one point.
Kelvin was the perfect "breakthrough point".
When the guys who wanted to save the world finally managed to untie the collar around Kelvin's neck, they were only given a false message. They found it hard to doubt the information they had spent so much time and effort to obtain and the conclusions they had drawn. Not everyone understands the principle of sunk costs not being involved in major decisions.
It doesn't matter if Thomas's plan is exposed after the neck ring is removed. He can fake his death after Kelvin removes the neck ring and the secret begins to leak, take the opportunity to get rid of Thomas's identity, and then continue his plan as Night Owl, who is "two completely different people" from Thomas, trying to get rid of the heroes' vigilance as much as possible.
Of course, to enhance Kelvin's credibility, Thomas decided to actually give him a lot of work.
They're just tools, might as well use them.

Thomas was much more normal when he left work.
Good heavens, can Thomas's usual mental state really be considered "normal"?
However, his mental state was indeed much better than before he went to work in the morning; at least he didn't have that gloomy, murderous expression anymore.
But relying on going to work to improve one's mood sounds really bizarre.
Thomas was surprised to see Alfred and Bruce waiting for him on the first floor.
He quickly composed himself and, as usual, tried his best to act as a good older brother (even though he was the younger brother), asking, "What's wrong, Bruce?"
"The circus you like is touring Gotham. I bought two tickets, hoping... um..."
He didn't know how to advise Thomas to put less pressure on himself, so he simply asked, "Are you feeling better?"
“Much better. I realized that I used to be too focused on the details. In fact, many things are not that important. Now I plan to focus my energy on the most ‘source’ place.”
It sounds good, but it was Bruce and Alfred who heard it.
The two of them could only feel a strange optimism in Thomas's words amidst their relief. The truly normal Thomas would have said, "It's okay, I might die tomorrow, so why should I waste my time caring about these things?"
Or they might continue to break down and become completely unable to think straight; this kind of behavior is more normal.
He's so positive now, has he switched to bipolar disorder?
Thomas was hit too hard?
...It's just that the defense system was breached, will it really cause him such a big blow?
Thomas seemed to realize that his reaction was not "normal" (his usual behavior was certainly not normal either), and he calmed down a little.
Bruce didn't think about it further, but instead asked Thomas, "Do you want to go see it?"
"look."
A quantum bomb cannot be made overnight, so he could use that time to do something else.
He did want a better assistant.

Author's Note: Sorry everyone, I had guests at home these past two days and haven't had time to update. I even used up all my saved chapters a couple of days ago, so I can only update daily these next two days. (lol)
For now, I'll update six days a week and rest one day. Sundays will be used to correct typos and plot bugs. There are so many typos, my little angels are really sharp-eyed.
