Chapter 56: At the Thomas meeting, four people appeared whose names contained the character Thomas...

"...Thomas, where did you get that axe?"

“I had a feeling we’d need them tonight, since I prepared them in advance.” Thomas pulled an axe from under his desk. “Looks like my hunch was absolutely right.”

The others present hesitated to speak.

"Don't look at me like that. Wayne Corporation has always been law-abiding."

...I can't see any connection between the way you swing the axe and obeying the law.

"It is precisely because Wayne Corporation abides by the law that I was able to find so many fire axes in this building in such a short time... instead of rocket launchers."

So you still want to use a rocket launcher?

He pointed the axe at the imposter: "I advise you to tell me everything in detail."

“Calm down, Thomas…” Bruce reached out and pressed down on Thomas’s hand, which was holding the fire axe.

“As someone who was framed for the GCPD, kidnapped, and treated like a serial killer by my own family, I’m already quite calm,” Thomas struggled to lift the axe. “I really didn’t expect… that even someone who’s been trying to kill me all this time could recognize this as a fake!”

The two of them argued for a long time, seemingly forgetting everyone around them.

In the end, Bruce prevailed, successfully grabbing the axe handle, which prevented Thomas from pulling the axe out and solved the problem of Thomas potentially embedding the axe into the imposter's skull.

“Now that you’ve seen me,” Bruce gripped the axe handle tightly, “Thomas Elliott, why did you do this?!”

You can even recognize who this imposter is!

Thomas released the fire axe and picked up the milkshake and straw instead.

“Want to know all this? Fine!” The imposter glared at Bruce. “I hate you, I hate that Thomas Wayne, I hate your damn family!” (A loud scraping sound of plastic scraping against a straw!)

"……Why?"

"Why? Because your father ruined everything I had!"

“My father did his best,” Bruce said, his voice heavy. “He felt very guilty for not being able to save your father… but he did nothing to wrong you.”

"He (screeching scraping sound!) took away (screeching scraping sound!) what I deserved (screeching scraping sound!)... Damn Thomas Wayne!"

It's hard to say which Thomas Wayne he was referring to with that statement.

It's also possible that they both cursed each other.

Thomas put down his straw under everyone's watchful eyes.

The loud scraping sound stopped.

“He looks like he’s about to explode with anger,” Dick whispered.

“…I really can’t believe Thomas Wayne is like this,” Barbara said incredulously. The contrast between killing someone with an axe and venting his anger by scraping straws seemed a bit too great.

Jason remained lost in thought, the scraping sound ignoring his contemplation.

"Tommy (Bruce reverted to Thomas's nickname, considering that Thomas was also present), could you please be quiet for a moment?"

“Then I’ll have to get the fire axe. Luckily, I still have one here.” Thomas smiled at Bruce.

“No.” Bruce’s lips twitched. “You can’t.”

“You see, you won’t even let me chop him a couple of times to vent my anger,” Thomas picked up the straw again, trying to torture everyone’s ears, “so this is all I can do—go on, Elliott.”

His mood seemed to have improved, and he was even able to calmly say the word "Elliott" instead of calling him a "fake."

Bruce stopped trying to persuade Thomas to put down the straw; at least murdering someone by scraping a straw was unlikely, but a fire axe was a different story.

Thomas Elliott didn't say a word, he just stared at Thomas with rage, wishing he could tear him to pieces and scatter them off the Tower of Venn.

But clearly he couldn't do it.

"I don't understand...did you orchestrate that car accident?"

“That’s right.” Elliott sneered, but he seemed to be deliberately avoiding saying a complete sentence, as if he was still wary of Thomas.

"Why?"

“Of course you can’t understand, Bruce Wayne. This is all I deserve. Your wealth has always been laid out on a platter for you. You’ve never fought for anything in your life, so of course you can’t understand me!”

Seeing that the others present seemed to have become immune to the jarring sound, Thomas put down what he was holding with a sullen expression and turned to look at Elliott.

"So you mean you staged a car accident to murder your parents in order to inherit their wealth?"

The moment he opened his mouth, the office became as quiet as a morgue.

Although it is more likely that the noise-maker himself stopped making noise.

“I only want what I deserve!” Elliott emphasized fiercely.

“I haven’t finished,” Thomas approached him and crouched down, “and then you hate us because old Thomas Wayne kept your mother alive?”

Elliott did not refute this.

“It’s ridiculous, so in the end,” Thomas tilted his head and looked him in the eye, “wasn’t the reason you didn’t kill her just because you were incompetent?”

Wait, Thomas, what are you saying?

...What kind of person would react by laughing at someone's incompetence when they hear an abstract story about someone trying to murder their parents and then hating the doctor who saved their mother's life?

“I knew you were just like me, Thomas Wayne…”

“Who’s like you? You can’t even do this right,” Thomas stood up in disgust. “Useless.”

Elliott struggled angrily, but he was bound like a worm, making it impossible for him to perform a highly difficult action in every sense, such as strangling Thomas.

So your first reaction is, "Would I definitely succeed if I were in that situation?"... No normal person would react like that!

Bruce appeared calm, but in reality, he was desperately trying to figure out how to get Thomas to a specialist hospital to see a psychiatrist.

Dick's face was contorted in a grimace, while Barbara took a step back.

Jason... Jason was already prepared when Thomas advised him to just kill his parents; he's the least affected person in the house right now.

Thomas waved impatiently at the others, "Alright, now let's summarize the case. Send him to the GCPD tonight, and I can go to work as usual tomorrow."

“The day I took Jason to the hospital for a checkup, I ran into this good-for-nothing, who still had his ugly face back then,” Thomas’s description was clearly tinged with personal emotion. “After that, he took advantage of my rare appearance in the East End and used his name and the lack of surveillance in the East End to frame me.”

“Such limited evidence is clearly not enough to send Thomas Wayne to prison, so he chose to use public opinion,” Barbara added, “His goal from the beginning has always been to take Thomas Wayne away from Wayne Manor and the Wayne Group for a period of time so that he can be transferred elsewhere.”

“I must say this is the perfect timing,” Bruce chimed in, but Thomas gave him a light punch to remind him that the current “Bruce Wayne” persona should be that of a devastated bum. “Chief Gordon, Alfred, and I are all at the party, and you’ve probably bribed quite a few people in the GCPD as well.”

“He even used my connections,” Thomas said, dissatisfied.

Indeed, it would be impossible for the weakened Elliott family to pull off such a large-scale operation and casually relocate Thomas.

But if it were Wayne, who was at the height of his power, things would be completely different. The mayor and most people in the GCPD were unwilling to offend Thomas, and logically speaking, someone of Thomas's status would not want to stay in the GCPD for long.

So, through Thomas's efforts, Thomas was released early by judicial officials on the grounds of "lack of reasonable grounds".

"Then I was seamlessly strapped into a car and taken to that abandoned hospital. He seemed to want to skin me alive, but obviously his henchmen were also useless."

"...So he called you then because he wanted to bring you back?" Dick asked.

“That’s right,” Thomas clapped his hands. “Now there’s only one last question—how did his wound heal in a day and a half?”

“That’s right,” Bruce added, “There’s no way such a major cosmetic surgery could recover like this in just one day.”

"You'll never know..."

“Actually, I don’t care about the answer to this kind of question,” Thomas interrupted him skillfully. “These things are probably enough to send you to jail. Remember to work hard on the production line and earn me a few more dollars.”

Clearly, Thomas has a natural talent for infuriating people.

But when a person gets angry to a certain extent, he will calm down.

Elliott turned to Bruce and said meaningfully, "You used to talk to me about your brother... about how you didn't know what to do with the extraordinary Thomas Wayne, do you remember?"

Bruce frowned.

Thomas looked at Bruce.

“I told you back then that you should kill him,” Elliott grinned maliciously. “Thomas Wayne is a real monster. He kicks away anyone who stands in his way like a stone… I can see he has a lot of blood on his hands. He’s just like me.”

“Who’s like you?” Thomas retorted, dissatisfied. “A piece of trash who needs to rely on other people’s connections to gain power.”

His plan to kill his parents was a complete success.

Moreover, Thomas Wayne successfully transformed himself into a symbol of power, far from being as useless as this guy.

Bruce remained silent.

"Just you wait, Bruce Wayne! You'll get what's coming to you from this madman sooner or later."

His voice was hoarse and unpleasant (probably from shouting too much that night), and the words that came out sounded like vicious curses.

There was a moment of silence in the room.

Thomas then punched Bruce again.

"No wonder he could impersonate me!" Thomas exclaimed angrily. "So it was you who told him!"

Is this the key point?

The author's note: Try the scraping sound yourself; it's incredibly awful.

Silence: (while speaking).

òvó: (flying axe).

Silence: (speaking angrily).

ovo: (angrily playing the straw like a violin).

I found a more suitable emoticon for an owl, it even has ear feathers, but I don't know if it will display. òvó

I want to stay up all night playing Hollow Knight (it's so fun), even if I die repeatedly, I still want to play it.

If Silk Song is under 120, I'm planning to buy it without hesitation.
