Chapter 166: A Mutual Affection

He returned to the landlord's house, hurriedly packed up some valuables, turned around and ran away.

He didn't dare to take the main road, but chose the small road. In a short time, he entered the woods and fled to the outside world.

After two days of running, Yu Yunting ran 150 miles in one breath before he stopped.

He thought that the bandits would not be able to find him for a while, and he was tired and hungry, so he had to have a good meal.

He had been busy escaping for the past two days and had only eaten some dry food, so his stomach had already been rumbling.

It happened that he came to a village that day. The village looked quite large and there were many people. He thought there should be some kind-hearted person who would give him some food.

As soon as he entered the village, he saw an old lady sitting at the door of her house sewing shoe soles. He hurriedly went up to her and said, "Auntie, do you have any steamed buns at home? Give me one. I haven't eaten all day."

When the old lady saw the young man with dust on his face, she immediately felt pity for him and said, "Wait a minute, young man. I'll get you some steamed buns."

Yu Yunting took a look and couldn't help but sigh: "There are still many good people in this world!"

After a while, the old lady came out of the house, took out two yellow steamed buns, and brought a bowl of water, and said, "Young man, eat quickly."

Yu Yunting was so grateful that he kept thanking her: "Thank you, Auntie."

As he spoke, he took the steamed bun and started eating it.

The old lady said, "Young man, eat slowly and don't choke. What's wrong with you? Why haven't you eaten for a day?"

Yu Yunting narrated what had happened while chewing on a steamed bun.

After hearing this, the old lady praised him repeatedly: "Oh, young man, you are such a good man! If it weren't for you, the girl would have died."

Then the old lady asked him what he did and where he was from.

Yu Yunting told her about his situation. The old lady smiled and said, "Young man, I think you are a kind-hearted person. The landlord Liu in our village just needs a long-term worker. You can give it a try. Maybe they will keep you."

Yu Yunting thought that it was not a good idea to keep running away like this, so he might as well go to his house and try to settle down first.

So he went to the house of Landlord Liu. Sure enough, after listening to his introduction and testing his strength, Landlord Liu was very satisfied and kept him.

From then on, he found a new livelihood in the home of landlord Liu in Hanjia Village, and no longer had to worry about having no food to eat.

Half a month passed in a flash. During this period, Yu Yunting was actually a little nervous, as he was afraid that the bandits would come again.

However, the past half month was calm and those people did not show up, so he gradually put his mind at ease.

In his spare time, he would often think of the girl and wonder how she was doing now.

I don’t know why, but the girl’s shadow often appears in front of my eyes and can’t be shaken off.

In this way, another half a month passed. One day, he was helping to load grain at Landlord Liu's house when suddenly a woman's voice came from the door.

Yu Yunting continued to do his work, after all, there were many guests at Landlord Liu's house.

However, when this person appeared in the yard, Yu Yunting was stunned. The person in front of him was the girl he saved that day!

The girl also saw him and was immediately surprised and happy. She asked, "Brother, why are you here? Are you okay?"

Yu Yunting was overjoyed and said, "Girl, why is it you? I'm fine. I ran away and those bandits didn't catch up with me."

The girl was very happy when she heard this. She had been worried about Yu Yunting recently, fearing that the bandits would not let him go.

The girl's originally sad face showed a hint of smile, and she said: "Brother, I'm so glad that you are okay! My name is Xu Qiaoyun, you can just call me Qiaoyun."

Yu Yunting nodded repeatedly: "Okay, okay! Qiaoyun, what's wrong with you? Didn't you say you were going to visit relatives?"

Xu Qiaoyun's eyes suddenly turned red, and she said, "Brother, I went to look for my aunt, but her whole family is gone..."

Then she told Yu Yunting that her family had suffered a disaster and all her relatives were gone. She originally wanted to go to her aunt for help, but there was no one at her aunt's house either.

As a last resort, she had to beg for a living and didn't know what to do.

Yu Yunting suddenly felt compassion and thought that the girl in front of him was so pitiful.

He hurriedly took out the steamed buns he had saved, poured her a bowl of water, and asked her to eat first.

Xu Qiaoyun was very hungry, so she grabbed the steamed bun and started eating.

Yu Yunting watched with a smile and asked, "Qiao Yun, what are you going to do now?"

Xu Qiaoyun just took a bite of the steamed bun, was stunned for a moment, and said: "I... I don't know."

Yu Yunting didn't know where he got the courage from, he gritted his teeth and said: "Qiao Yun, if you have nowhere to go, then... just live with me, how about that?"

Xu Qiaoyun choked and started coughing.

Yu Yunting hurriedly said, "Qiao Yun, drink some water."

Xu Qiaoyun took a sip of water and asked in surprise: "Brother, what did you say?"

Yu Yunting gritted his teeth and repeated, "You have nowhere to go, and I don't have any relatives, so why don't you just live with me?"

Xu Qiaoyun was a grown girl after all, her face turned red, she lowered her head and said nothing.

Yu Yunting saw it and said hurriedly: "Qiao Yun, I am not taking advantage of you. If you don't want to, then I will give you some money and you can go."

Unexpectedly, Xu Qiaoyun raised her head and said with a red face: "Brother, you are a good person, I am willing."

Yu Yunting's mind buzzed when he heard this, and he asked in surprise, "What did you say?"
