"Xiaoshan, what's wrong with you?"
Seeing that Jiang Zeshan was limping on one leg, Jiang Anfu didn't care about what he was saying and stood up quickly.
"I'm fine. I just fell down when I came back. It was too dark."
Jiang Zeshan found an empty seat and sat down, rubbing his leg with one hand.
"Mom, is there anything to eat? I haven't eaten anything all day, and my stomach is empty."
Hearing this, Old Zhang couldn't sit still any longer and quickly spoke.
"Yes, wait, I'll serve it to you right away."
Jiang Li looked up.
Jiang Wan put a piece of vegetable into his bowl and motioned for him to eat.
Jiang Yue, who was standing by, had been paying attention to Jiang Wan's movements. When she saw this scene, her eyes flashed slightly.
"That's it? No meat?"
Old Zhang served him a bowl of rice porridge. Jiang Zeshan looked dissatisfied, and there was no trace of meat in his eyes.
"Xiaoshan, I didn't know you were back, but wait a minute, I'll get you something delicious."
After saying that, she turned and walked to the locked cabinet and took out a plate of braised meat.
Xie Ying stared with her eyes wide open. As expected, old Zhang only had eyes for her two children.
All the good things were hidden away, and they couldn't even see them.
"What are you looking at? Aren't you full?"
Old Mrs. Zhang looked up and glared around fiercely.
Xie Ying curled her lips and muttered softly, "Didn't mother say there was no meat left? Turns out she was hiding it for my uncle to eat."
"What did you say? Say it again louder than that, ma'am?"
Old Zhang put down the bowl and chopsticks in her hand with a clanging sound, and glared.
"You keep your rat eyes open and try to get into my pocket. You're such a wicked person! What a sin you've committed!"
Jiang Anfu glanced at Xie Ying, then said in a deep voice, "Alright, now that we've all finished our meal, let's get back to our own business. As for the autumn harvest, let's make the arrangements for now."
"Xiaoshan, you should eat first, and then we'll talk after you finish eating."
Jiang Zeshan came back so suddenly that he didn't even say hello in advance. Moreover, he looked a little disheveled when he came back, and it was obvious that something had happened.
Thinking of this, Jiang Anfu's face became even uglier.
"Xiaoshan, what's going on? Today is not a day off, shouldn't you be in school?"
After the meal, Jiang Anfu couldn't wait to speak. His precious pipe fell to the ground and he didn't have time to pick it up.
He placed all his hopes on Jiang Zeshan and didn't want anything to happen.
Hearing this, Jiang Zeshan remembered something and his expression became even uglier.
"Isn't it Xun Zicheng from the Xun family?"
Speaking of this, Jiang Zeshan gritted his teeth. Jiang Yue, who was standing beside him, heard this and her eyes moved.
"Young Master Xun? But the Xun family in town, who are as famous as the Liang family?"
Upon hearing this, Old Zhang was instantly distracted.
That's not an ordinary family, how could they have provoked him?
"Xiaoshan, why did the young master of the Xun family bother you?"
Jiang Anfu seemed a little calmer.
"It was because the Master appreciated the article I wrote, but Xun Zicheng got jealous and tried to trip me up, trying to prevent me from taking this year's imperial examination! Now I've finally managed to escape!"
"What?"
Jiang Anfu's hands trembled, and there was fear in his eyes.
"How is that possible? Mr. Liang clearly promised to take good care of you? How is it possible..."
Old Zhang's face was pale as she spoke, but she suddenly woke up mid-sentence, "It's all because of that damn girl Jiang Wan. If it weren't for her, how could Mr. Liang have ignored Xiaoshan?"
"I've said it before, if we had become in-laws earlier, how could Xiaoshan have suffered so much?"
On the other hand, Jiang Yue, who was standing beside him, had her eyes flickering, but she didn't say a word.
When Jiang Anfu heard this, he couldn't see his face or body clearly. He just picked up his pipe heavily and took a puff of smoke.
Old Mrs. Zhang never told him these things at the beginning. If she had told him earlier, why would it have come to this?
"What should I do?"
"Ayue, do you have any good ideas?"
Old Mrs. Zhang looked at Jiang Yue with a hint of hope in her eyes.
"Xiaoshan, are you telling the truth?"
Jiang Yue looked up at him.
"Of course... how could I lie?"
"If that's the case, it's impossible for Mr. Liang to not intervene at all."
Although the marriage was ruined by Jiang Wan, the connection between her and Mr. Liang still exists. Moreover, the Xun family and the Liang family are rivals, and Mr. Liang promised her that he would take better care of Jiang Zeshan.
Jiang Zeshan must be hiding something?
"Xiaoshan, tell me, what's going on?"
Jiang Anfu looked at the flash of guilt on Jiang Zeshan's face and understood that his youngest son had probably had some conflict with the young master of the Xun family a long time ago.
Jiang Zeshan's expression suddenly changed. "You don't believe me?"
"It's not that I don't believe you, but you need to tell us the whole story so that we can prescribe the right medicine, right?"
When he met Jiang Yue's gaze, Jiang Zeshan's aura subconsciously weakened a bit.
Finally, he looked at Jiang Yue timidly and spoke.
"It was that same Xun Zicheng who said I was a toad dreaming of eating swan flesh and marrying the Master's daughter was a foolish dream. So I secretly put a hurdle in his way. Who would have thought that he would retaliate and nearly prevent me from returning."
Jiang Zeshan's eyes flickered, his fists clenched, and he looked like he was gritting his teeth.
"Bah, who the hell does he think he is? He dares to scold my son. God is really blind to let that bastard be our Xiaoshan's classmate!"
