Chapter 589: Lord Demon, Spare Me, I’m Just an NPC (60)

Nine o'clock in the evening.

The temperature was slightly low and the wind was a bit cold.

Huo Yi looked at the people coming and going outside the window, then looked down at his watch, his mind heavy with worry.

Why haven't you come yet? Did you change your mind?

Just as I was feeling depressed, the waiter came forward and said with a polite smile, "Sir, the time is up. Can we order now?"

Huo Yi looked up at him and said, "Please wait a little longer, my friend hasn't arrived yet."

"Well, okay." The waiter nodded, smiled and turned to leave.

As soon as he left, when Huo Yi looked at the people outside again, Duan Junchen had already arrived by car.

Seeing this, Huo Yi felt relieved.

As soon as Duan Junchen got out of the car, he waved at him and strode over with a smile, "Sorry, I'm late. Something at the company delayed me."

Huo Yi was actually a little nervous when he saw him sit down. He subconsciously clenched his hands and tried to pretend to be relaxed. "It's okay, I'm glad you can come."

What he was about to say next might cause the two of them to part ways on bad terms, but he had to say it, no matter what the outcome.

Hearing this, Duan Junchen felt warm in his heart, happiness written on his face, and his voice became much gentler, "Haven't you ordered yet?"

Huo Yi nodded, "Not yet, waiting for you to come."

"Now that I'm here, you can order." Duan Junchen handed him the menu.

Huo Yi was a little absent-minded and pushed it back, "You order, I'm fine."

Duan Junchen was stunned for a moment, realizing that he was a little weird. He pursed his lips and said nothing. He called the waiter and ordered all the dishes that Huo Yi liked, but he didn't order the ones he liked.

Huo Yi listened and was silent for a while.

After Duan Junchen finished ordering, he focused his gaze on him and asked with a smile, "Didn't you say you had something to say to me? Why don't you say a word now?"

Huo Yi looked up at him, then lowered his head to stare at his clasped hands. His heartbeat quickened. After preparing for a long time, he whispered, "Junchen, I still like the old you. Back then, you were more pure and less irrational. If possible, I hope you can go back to the way you were before."

As he spoke, he slowly raised his head and looked straight at him.

Duan Junchen listened, and the gentle smile on his lips gradually disappeared. "Huo Yi, you should understand that no one can go back to the past after going through so much."

"Yes, I understand, but some things cannot be overdone. You are so smart and you should understand it better than me." As Huo Yi spoke, his vision blurred for a moment, his nose felt sore, and even his voice was filled with an unknown emotion.

Duan Junchen looked at him quietly for a long time, then suddenly smiled. "So you asked me to meet you today just to persuade me to turn back from my wrong path? Or... you want to take me to surrender myself."

Huo Yi looked at him and fell silent.

However, silence speaks louder than words. Duan Junchen immediately understood his true intention and lowered his eyes. "Even if I die, do you still want to do this?"

"Death?" Huo Yi was slightly stunned, at a loss for a moment, and then subconsciously denied it, "No, turning yourself in will reduce your sentence."

Duan Junchen looked at the panicked young man and laughed. His laughter was filled with emotions that Huo Yi did not understand. "Silly boy, how can you reduce the sentence for several counts of intentional homicide? The Duan family will not let me go easily. For me, turning myself in means death."

Hearing this, Huo Yi twitched his lips, and his whole body leaned limply on the sofa like a deflated ball, his lips pale. "So, you don't want to come back? Even if it's... for me?"

Hearing this, Duan Junchen suddenly raised his eyes and stared at him.

The young man's eyes were filled with expectation. Duan Junchen's heart trembled, and he turned his face away cruelly, "I don't want to."

Surrendering oneself means death.

He admitted that he was cowardly and timid.

Because he's dead, I'll never see him again.

Only by being alive can you see this person.

"Duan Junchen!" Huo Yi stood up suddenly, his eyes filled with anger and emotions that even he couldn't understand. He said excitedly: "You are hopeless! I misjudged you. Since you want to fall into the abyss so much, then I will grant you your wish and never care about you again!"

After he finished speaking, he left without looking back.

Seeing this, Duan Junchen did not try to persuade her to stay or say anything. He just listened quietly to the footsteps gradually fading away.

After walking out of the restaurant, Huo Yi could no longer control his emotions and burst into tears. He looked back at the person in the glass window and wiped his tears decisively.

He can ignore this person, but he cannot treat other people's lives as nothing.

An unknown amount of time passed before the food was served. The waiter was slightly surprised to see Huo Yi was gone, "Why is this gentleman gone?"

Duan Junchen glanced at him with a smile and said, "He went back for something."

"Then these dishes..." Looking at the table full of dishes, the waiter felt a little embarrassed.

Duan Junchen: "I'll pay the bill."

"Well, sir, enjoy your meal."

He was the only one left at the table. Duan Junchen ate slowly, but tears suddenly fell from his eyes.

This might be the last time I get to eat your favorite dishes.

You could report me, at least it would clear your suspicion.

But... it's not enough.
