Chapter 70 (!!)

How intelligent are animals?

Count, draw, or dance to the music?

In that post-apocalyptic world, the police dog Blackie and the wolf king who led his pack in a planned raid on them represent the pinnacle of animal "intelligence" that Gou Fugui has ever witnessed.

He thought it was just an isolated case.

Or perhaps he believes that animals, as a species, can never compare to humans. After all, they lack so much.

However, at this moment, as Tibetan Fox Fugui looked at the majority of the zombies that had followed the half-zombified wolf king, deer-headed wolf, and other adult animals, and then at the flock of zombie birds that appeared in the sky almost simultaneously with the wolf king's army, he was once again awestruck by these animals, or rather, by the "wisdom" of life in the world that was distinct from humans.

The four animal leaders first lured the zombie animals hidden in the forest with a collective roar, then half of the adult animals led away the vast majority of the zombie animals. Since most of the zombie animals had already been lured away by the shouting animals, even if a few zombie animals remained, they were no match for the large number of adult animals that stayed behind.

In this way, the animals in the forest can protect their young in the valley to the greatest extent possible, allowing the young to survive.

Even though they attracted away most of the zombie animals, the Wolf King and Tiger King found it difficult to kill them cleanly. Therefore, Gou Fugui guessed that the Wolf King and Tiger King would definitely lead all the animals and zombie army towards the human settlement in the valley.

This is a way to divert the trouble, and it's also the fastest way to get rid of these zombie animals.

Therefore, yesterday afternoon's animal attack was not accidental, but rather an "inevitable" decision made by the animal leaders.

It seems the half-zombie giant eagle in the sky had the same plan, so it made an unspoken agreement with the wolf king, and when it moved in the forest, it moved in the sky as well.

Thinking this, Zanghu Fugui jumped up and kicked away a zombie fox that was trying to pounce on him and tear him apart.

He smiled wryly and silently acknowledged his disregard for animals. Even if animals lack the intelligence of humans, their vitality is no less than that of humans.

Although the zombie fox was kicked and rolled several times, it was thick-skinned and seemed to feel no pain at all. After being kicked, it got up again and charged towards him almost without stopping.

Tibetan Fox Fugui quickly gathered his thoughts, a slight unease settling in his heart.

The situation is not good.

Although the number of adult animals that survived far exceeded the number of zombie animals, these zombie animals felt no pain, were tireless, and would not stop attacking even when injured, because their brain core had not been damaged.

Even when several adult animals ganged up on a single zombie animal and repeatedly inflicted severe injuries, the zombie animal remained alive. On the contrary, the adult animals that were accidentally bitten by the zombie animal would become weak, die, or even turn into zombies within three to five minutes.

The battle did not result in an overwhelming victory due to numbers; instead, it gradually descended into a stalemate and became disadvantageous.

Gou Fugui thought that this was a problem for the adult animals that remained.

Humans have long known that the weakness of zombies lies in their heads and brains, and that firearms can be used to quickly and accurately eliminate these walking corpses controlled by brain nerves in one go.

However, the animals neither knew the zombies' weaknesses nor had a method of attack that would be effective in one hit.

He had initially thought that the adult animals that remained were luckier than those that had risked their lives to lure away the zombie animals, but now it seemed that both those who left and those who stayed were heroes who protected their kind.

So, how will the animals that survive deal with these difficult-to-kill zombie animals?

If the zombie animals cannot be killed quickly, more and more animals will be bitten and infected, and even if enough adult animals survive, the final outcome will be...

Just as Gou Fugui was pondering how to solve this problem and whether he should take direct action, some of the animals left behind suddenly raised their heads and began to hiss.

The almost simultaneous chirping startled Gou Fugui, who realized something was about to happen.

The next moment he saw a male deer with very strong and beautiful antlers raise its hooves high and charge straight at a tree in front of it!

There were no zombie-like animals on the other side of the tree, but the stag charged fiercely and without hesitation, as if it had a nemesis it was determined to kill.

When the loud, not very crisp, sound of the antlers snapping rang out, Gou Fugui heard the stag let out a mournful cry, but that was all.

After breaking off its own antlers, it ignored the blood-stained and unsightly antlers on its head, turned around, and swept into the army of zombie animals like a gust of wind.

The stag kicked away the zombie ape that pounced on it. As the zombie ape flew backward, the stag chased after it with its broken antlers, and the broken antlers instantly pierced the zombie ape's skull!

The broken antlers are no longer majestic and beautiful, but have become incredibly sharp.

From a symbol of power, it has become a tool for killing.

Seeing the image of the broken-antler stag with the corpse of a zombie ape hanging from one of its antlers, while its other broken antler continued to stab at the heads of the zombie animals like a sharp knife, Gou Fugui was once again shocked.

But the shock was not over yet.

Male deer can break their antlers.

But those rabbits, foxes, and wild boars had no horns to break and no sharp weapons to use.

All they have are their teeth and claws, and they must get close to these zombie-like animals to kill them.

But none of these animals chose to back down.

They began frantically tearing and scratching at the heads of the zombie animals with their teeth and claws, and ramming and squeezing their heads with their bodies.

Gou Fugui saw a cheetah open its mouth wide and bite the head of another zombie cheetah, but when it tore into the flesh of the zombie cheetah, it inevitably became infected with the mutated virus.

The once-fierce cheetah began to stagger.

But it still struggled and killed the three closest zombie animals.

However, this was its limit. When it killed the fourth zombie animal, it began to pant rapidly, and its originally bright black eyes began to turn red.

Gou Fugui swatted away a zombie rabbit and crushed a zombie rat with his paw, then looked warily at the cheetah that was about to turn into a zombie.

Although this cheetah was a very powerful protector of its cubs before it turned into a zombie, once it mutated, it turned into the most terrifying predator.

Very few adult animals here will be able to rival it.

However, contrary to Gou Fugui's expectations, this cheetah did not ultimately become a terrifying predator that would threaten the lives of the cubs.

Just a few seconds before it was about to turn into a zombie, it turned back for one last look at the three little leopards huddled together with many cubs in the valley. Then it stood up and let out its last roar before running, sprinting, and leaping high into the air!

Finally, it crashed headfirst into the stone wall beside the valley and died.

It resolutely charged toward death, refusing to become a mindless slaughterer.

The crimson blood exploded on the stone wall, stinging Gou Fugui's eyes.

But it's not over yet.

The cheetah's charge was like a battle cry, heralding the beginning of the animals' march towards death.

The fox father, who had viciously killed three of his own zombie-like brethren, screamed as he charged toward the crimson stone wall. Even in death, his gaze was fixed on the hollow valley below.

A dozen or so rabbits, their mouths stained with blood, crashed one after another against the stone wall, creating a symphony of defiance and anger in the face of their fate.

Wild boars, monkeys, small birds, deer that used their bodies as a barrier, and the most ferocious wolves, one by one, crashed into the blood-stained stone wall and fell onto the gradually accumulating mountain of corpses.

The sounds of battle and roars within the valley gradually diminished, while the cries of the cubs filled with unease and sorrow grew louder.

When Gou Fugui was thrown back to his senses by a tremendous force, he was forced to regain his senses.

He then realized that he was already in tears.

Turning his head, he saw that the one who kicked him away was the deer with the broken antlers. The deer was now covered in wounds, and at its feet was a zombie snake that it had just trampled to death.

Gou Fugui had never discovered that a deer's eyes could express so many emotions, nor had he ever seen a deer's eyes that were so cold yet beautiful.

He saw the deer with the broken antler stare at him intently for a long time, as if trying to determine whether he was friend or foe. Finally, it slowly turned its body around and then lowered its head slightly to face the crimson stone wall not far away.

Finally, the suppressed emotions in his chest could no longer be controlled.

Gou Fugui clenched his claws under his arm, and a specially made small submachine gun suddenly appeared in his hands. Then, as if to vent something, he roared madly and began to fire.

Every bullet fired was a cry of anger and defiance from the Tibetan fox, Fugui, against this damned apocalypse.

The deafening gunshots startled all the animals still fighting. The cubs huddled together, staring at the fox carrying a gun. Even the deer stopped in their tracks.

The fox carrying the gun fired wildly while roaring:

"You deer with the broken antlers, don't die yet! Don't fucking go to your death! I have an antidote here that can save your life!!"
