Chapter 8

When Gou Fugui regained consciousness, before he even opened his eyes, he felt a continuous dull pain and uncontrollable dizziness all over his body.

It felt like being violently spun and agitated in a washing machine for a long time, leaving you feeling completely exhausted.

Oh, the whole otter is about to collapse from exhaustion.

But when Gou Fugui opened his eyes, what he saw was not the turbulent sea he had imagined, but a red and powerful chest.

Even though the owner of this chest was unconscious, and even though he could see with his own eyes that there were bruises and welts on his chest and shoulders, Gou Fugui found that he was still tightly imprisoned in this person's arms.

This discovery left Gou Fugui with very mixed feelings—

Faced with an immeasurable disaster, one that is almost certain to result in death, some people might not do their utmost to protect even their closest and dearest loved ones, let alone an animal they have only recently met.

But right in front of him was a fool who let himself be battered and bruised in the massive tsunami, yet protected a sea otter from harm.

Gou Fugui looked up and saw a man who, even in his unconscious state, had a furrowed brow and looked somewhat fierce. Was this a clever werewolf or a bizarre idiot?

Forget it. He's just a random guy I just met, why worry so much? The most important thing now is to observe the surroundings and see where they are.

So Gou Fugui tried his best to turn his round little body around in Xie Tianlang's arms, while craning his neck to look outside.

They were still adrift at sea, his body submerged from the neck down. But when he saw the ten o'clock position diagonally ahead, Gou Fugui was shocked—

That large expanse of yellowish-white land ahead—isn't that the beach and land?!

Behind the beach, there is a row of coconut trees that should have been neat and orderly, but now they are leaning and crooked!

"...Holy crap."

So, they were slammed ashore by those towering, mountain-like waves?!

Gou Fugui quickly turned his head to look at the sea next to him, and sure enough, he saw scattered people floating on the sea, as well as lifeboats and life rafts that were already in pieces.

Of course, most of the bags and other items that people retrieved were broken into rags or pieces of plastic.

The heavy rain was still falling.

The sky remained overcast, making it impossible for Gou Fugui to determine the time.

But no matter what, there was no time to lose. Gou Fugui gritted his teeth and began to wriggle and squirm in Xie Tianlang's arms—

Even Xie Tianlang, who was so powerful he seemed inhuman, had fallen into such a deep coma. The situation of these people floating on the sea must be even worse than that of the werewolf holding him. In addition, many of the people floating were face down, and if they lingered any longer, they would probably suffocate.

So we need to save them quickly.

But he alone couldn't save so many.

He had to find people as quickly as possible, professional rescue and medical teams, to save these people's lives.

But damn it, how come this bastard's arms are so strong! Is he afraid he can't wrap his arms around him?!

Sea Otter Fugui struggled with all his might in Xie Tianlang's arms, almost twisting himself into a sea snake before finally breaking free.

After escaping Xie Tianlang's arm, the sea otter Fugui twitched his lips and pressed his non-existent otter waist with his little paw, feeling that his waist was probably swollen from being squeezed by this guy.

"You freakishly strong monster."

Otter Fugui spoke in human language, his face full of disdain.

After saying that, it slapped Xie Tianlang's nose hard with its little paw, slapping his face onto the surface of the sea.

Then, in the rain, the sea otter Fugui quickly surveyed his surroundings to make sure that no one was on the shore and no one was awake. He then exhaled and suddenly dived into the sea.

As the black and white sea otter gracefully and fully submerged into the sea, a faint golden light suddenly shone from its left paw. The otter quickly patted the glowing spot with its right paw, and then—

In the azure sea, the round, chubby little black creature suddenly elongated its body. In the blink of an eye, the round, chubby little sea otter disappeared, replaced by a slender humanoid figure.

This man had long, jet-black hair like seaweed, and his skin, as white as fine jade, was completely naked. He had a pair of extremely beautiful, upturned phoenix eyes that shone brightly when he opened them.

The young man stretched out his arms and swung his legs towards the sea, and then with a splash, he revealed his true form amidst the wind and rain.

"Tsk, it's finally back to normal."

Gou Da Meiren shook her hair and wiped the water droplets from her face. What she saw was Xie Tianlang's magnified, handsome yet fierce face.

"grass!"

Gou Fugui swam backward hard and almost choked on the water.

"You idiot, you're like a persistent ghost."

Fortunately, Xie Tianlang is still unconscious. If he were to wake up, it would be a big problem.

Despite her grumbling, Gou Da Meiren still reached out and dragged the man towards the beach. In the end, the man protected her with his own body. Perhaps Sea Otter Fugui wouldn't have died without her protection, but he certainly wouldn't be in such an easy situation now.

As Gou Fugui dragged Xie Tianlang toward the beach, he grabbed two shirts and trousers that he could wear. To Gou Fugui’s surprise, he even saw the black leather backpack that the sea otter Fugui had been wearing earlier on the beach!

Gou Fugui threw Xie Tianlang on the beach, quickly put on his clothes and pants, and slung his black leather backpack over his shoulder, finally looking like a human being.

He should have left by now, but as he was leaving, he couldn't help but glance at Xie Tianlang lying on the beach.

The cold rain kept pelting down on his face, as well as his bruised and swollen chest and back.

"Tsk."

Gou, the beautiful man, clicked his tongue in displeasure. He looked around and finally found a large parasol that was broken but not damaged. He picked up the parasol with disdain and walked back to Xie Tianlang's side. He opened the parasol to shield him from most of the rain, then looked down at him for a moment before turning and leaving.

He's just a passerby; there's no need to worry about him.

As he left, Xie Tianlang, his brows furrowed, opened his eyes in a daze and saw only a fleeting glimpse of his profile and waist-length black hair.

"..."

Gou Fugui ran to the roadside as fast as he could.

The place where they were hit by the waves should have been a beach. Gou Fugui could have found the person in charge, security guards, or lifeguards there, but probably because of the approaching giant waves and the fact that a giant wave warning had been issued by the beach, Gou Fugui couldn't find anyone after searching around.

The force of the giant wave crashing ashore was clearly terrifying; the beach was completely destroyed, and even some shops and residences located very close to the beach were washed away.

The wind and rain were heavy, and the streets were chaotic.

But compared to the boundless, uninhabited ocean, there are people who protect this land and its inhabitants.

"Hey girl!! What are you still doing here?! Didn't you hear the tsunami warning?! Hurry up and leave here and go home. If your home is in the tsunami zone, then go to the safe zone and stay there. Basic living supplies have been prepared for everyone there!"

As soon as Gou Fugui ran onto the road, he was stopped by a firefighter who was carrying out disaster relief work on the roadside. The firefighter was a very upright-looking young man who spoke with a serious expression.

When Gou Fugui heard him call his daughter, he couldn't help but twitch his lips. Well, it was raining and he was disheveled, so there was nothing to say if he was mistaken for someone else. But as soon as he opened his mouth, the firefighter knew he had called the wrong person.

"Quickly inform the people upstairs. I'm a survivor from the Crystal Brilliant. The Crystal Brilliant cruise ship encountered a huge storm at sea and sank, but about 1,500 people escaped. We were supposed to return in lifeboats and life rafts, but then the tsunami hit. The tsunami swept us directly over here. I'm lucky to be mostly unharmed and have woken up, but there are still many people floating near the beach over there!"

"We need to find someone to rescue them quickly. They are unconscious now, and there should still be quite a few survivors. However, some of their life jackets have been swept away or torn by the waves. If we get there any later, they may die."

“I’m telling the truth. You can ask them if there’s any record of the Crystal voyage. You can ask them any other questions after you’ve rescued those people, but hurry up and go rescue them.”

Qi Zheng listened to the slightly hoarse and hurried voice of the young man in front of him, made eye contact with him for a moment, and then pressed the intercom to report the matter to his superiors.

Soon, he received a reply from the above sources on his walkie-talkie. They indicated that they were aware of and confirmed the incident, and requested that his team send two of their best swimmers to the beach to rescue the person. They would also dispatch a maritime rescue team to the beach immediately.

When Gou Fugui heard the reply from the walkie-talkie, he felt a little relieved.

He has done what he could; the rest depends on whether the victims are lucky enough to survive.

Anyway, that werewolf is incredibly lucky.

Gou Fugui pursed his lips at this thought, then turned and left. He had used up most of his energy when he transformed back into a human from the sea otter, and now he was exhausted and hungry, so he needed to find a place to rest and recover quickly.

Firefighter Qi Zheng felt something was off as he watched Gou Fugui walk away so decisively, but he still rushed to the beach with his team as quickly as possible and saw the people floating on the sea.

However, besides those who were unconscious, a tall, perfectly proportioned man, shirtless, had already woken up. When they arrived, this man was carrying two people who had fallen into the sea with one hand and dragging four others ashore with the other.

"Holy crap, that strength, that physique! He's got real strength!"

Hearing his teammate's involuntary exclamation, Qi Zheng turned and glared at him: "What are you standing there for? Hurry up and save them!"

Xie Tianlang dragged Qin Feng, Lu Hu, Song Sanchuan, and a child ashore, and then he saw the rescuers rushing over.

He kicked Qin Feng and the other two awake, then reached out to stop Qi Zheng, who was walking past him:

How did you know you were coming here? Who notified you?

Qi Zheng paused for a moment before saying, "He was a passenger who perished in the same shipwreck as you, but due to the urgency of the situation, I didn't ask for his name."

Qi Zheng saw the handsome man click his tongue, and then he actually asked:

"Is it a man or a woman?"

Qi Zheng thought of the young man's long black hair and touched his nose: "A man."

"Even though she has long hair, she looks quite good."

Then Qi Zheng saw the man opposite him give him a rather unfriendly look.

"Oh."

Author's Note:

Xie Tianlang: ...Shouldn't the person who saved me wait until I open my eyes before repaying me with their body?

Gou Meiren: You're dreaming. I'm not the Little Mermaid!
