Chapter 55
Can you draw on my face?
Back at the Little Deer Clothing Shop, Chang Le could finally laugh heartily, a laugh that startled many of the customers in the room, who all turned to look at him.
To complete the whole act, Lu Qin apologetically pointed to Chang Le's head at everyone, then clasped her hands together and muttered, "I'm sorry, my brother has a problem." As she muttered this, she pushed Chang Le into the fitting room.
She offered to help Chang Le remove her makeup, but Chang Le refused, and instead stroked her chin with obvious fascination: "If I wear this outfit to see my father, he'll definitely be shocked, hahaha!"
“It’s not too late to check tomorrow.” Lu Qin took out her original clothes and handed them to her. “You’re too conspicuous going out like this. If Qian Yuming finds out, our plans will be ruined.”
“That’s true.” After a moment’s thought, Chang Le obediently took the clothes and changed.
While removing Chang Le's makeup, Lu Qin brought up important matters again, telling her to come early the next day to get her makeup done, and then quietly told her about her own arrangements.
After the two of them discussed it, Lu Qin saw Chang Le to the door and then went back to the dressing room alone to remove her makeup with a bronze mirror.
As she wiped away the nose shadow, she caught a glimpse of a little girl, about five or six years old, standing next to her, curiously tilting her head and looking around.
She didn't know when they came in; they startled her with their sudden appearance.
Lu Qin turned around and looked at her with a smile: "Little sister, can't you find your family?"
"My mom was trying on clothes over there, and I felt stuffy. There weren't any clothes here that I could wear, so I came out." The little girl wasn't shy at all and immediately walked up to her, saying sweetly, "Sister, why is your face all smudged?"
"Hmm..." Lu Qin thought for a moment and said, "Because I was drawing, and it wasn't very good, so I erased it. Have you ever seen other people draw?"
The little girl nodded: "I've seen it, but I've never seen it painted on someone's face."
"My sister can paint on her face." With that, Lu Qin quickly drew a plum blossom on her cheek. "Look, isn't it pretty?"
The little girl exclaimed in surprise, looking at the lifelike pale pink plum blossom on her face, "Wow, it's beautiful! Can you draw on my face?"
"Of course. Whatever you like, I'll draw it for you."
"I want..." The little girl clasped her hands together expectantly and fluttered them twice, "...a little butterfly, is that okay?"
After hearing this, Lu Qin dipped her brush in colored paint and skillfully painted a blue butterfly fluttering on her face. Then she held the bronze mirror in front of her and asked, "Look, is it good?"
The little girl smiled sweetly at herself in the mirror: "Big sister is so amazing! I'll show Mommy in a bit!"
She clapped her hands and chatted with Lu Qin for a long time. She said that she had a younger brother who had a scar on his face from an injury, so he was always reluctant to go out. She asked Lu Qin if she could draw a butterfly to cover the scar for him.
Lu Qin readily agreed and arranged to meet her at the same time the next day. She also told the little girl that the butterfly could not stay for long and that she should wash it off with soapy water before going to bed that night.
The little girl carefully wrote it down and nodded. Just then, someone outside called out urgently, "Nannan!"
"Little girl, where have you been?"
"Mommy!" the little girl quickly poked her head out. "I'm here!"
"What are you doing there?" Nannan's mother strode over. "Come out here! She's changing her clothes, it's so rude of you!"
She bent down and picked up the little girl, then apologized repeatedly through the curtain, "I'm sorry, the child was naughty and startled you."
Lu Qin said it was alright, but Nannan turned around eagerly and exclaimed, "Sister, I wish you had a dress embroidered with butterflies!"
"You silly child!"
Before Lu Qin could respond, Nannan's mother scolded her and carried Nannan away. Even after they had walked a few meters, Nannan was still struggling and calling out, "Sister, see you tomorrow!"
Upon hearing this, Lu Qin peeked out from behind the curtain and waved enthusiastically at Nannan in response to the promise.
She stood at the doorway, thinking about the butterfly dress that Nannan had mentioned earlier, when a sudden inspiration flashed through her mind.
A butterfly skirt?
Yes, back when she first met Lu Pan'an in Dongcheng, she had thought about making some children's clothes, but she was always busy and kept putting it off until now she had slowly forgotten about it.
Not only that, she also recalled that in the past, when walking in parks or on the street, she would often see stalls that painted children's faces with watercolor makeup. They painted all kinds of patterns on children's eyes, foreheads or cheeks, which were very popular.
If we could make some clothes embroidered with cute patterns as Nannan suggested, and pair them with these unique makeup looks, they would definitely be loved by children.
"Let's do it this way!"
Thinking of this, Lu Qin felt as if the clouds had parted and spring had arrived, her whole body was filled with enthusiasm and energy, and she immediately got up excitedly to share her new inspiration with Hao Jingshi.
She called out to her husband, and as usual looked around for Hao Jingshi, she soon heard a lazy reply from behind her.
"Here." Before he finished speaking, Hao Jingshi had already approached and casually touched her hair.
Lu Qin shrank her neck and subconsciously turned her head, only to be met with an ugly face with distorted features.
"Huh?" She was startled, but then couldn't help but laugh. "I'm really not used to my husband talking to me with that face on his face."
"Thanks to Madam." Hao Jingshi crossed his arms and leaned to the side. "What kind of wicked idea is this now that you're so eager to call me over?"
"Oh, I was just thinking..."
Lu Qin opened her mouth in a serious manner towards Hao Jingshi, but upon seeing his posture, she couldn't help but want to laugh and couldn't utter a single word.
Hao Jingshi always loved to stand to the side with his arms crossed. Although he looked arrogant and domineering, he made her feel very safe. She always felt that he was protecting her like a support system.
At this moment, he crossed his arms and stood with his face, which she had maliciously distorted, staring at her with his mismatched eyes and upturned nose, looking like a petty person who had achieved his goal, somewhat comical and ostentatious.
Lu Qin found it increasingly amusing, her shoulders trembled, and she chuckled to herself.
Hao Jingshi probably understood her thoughts and was clearly not happy to be ridiculed by his wife like that.
"What are you thinking about?" he asked, leaning closer to her with a hint of warning.
"I miss you, I miss you so much." Lu Qin knew that if she continued to provoke him, she would have a sleepless night again, so she quickly came up with a clever twist to save the day, "My husband is so different today, I see a completely different side of him, of course I miss him, just thinking about him makes me so happy I can't help but laugh, hehehe..."
What a happy laugh! Hao Jingshi grabbed her wrist and questioned, "You're clearly mocking me. What, you don't love me anymore just because I look different?"
"There are so many people here, why are you talking about this?" Lu Qin rolled her eyes. "I'll remove my husband's makeup, he really doesn't look good."
Hao Jingshi still wouldn't let go: "No, this is Madam's masterpiece, it can't be destroyed. I'll just go back to the manor like this."
"You think you can just weld it to your face? If Qian Yuming sees it, you'll be exposed."
Lu Qin used all her strength to drag Hao Jingshi into the fitting room, but Hao Jingshi flipped his wrist and pulled her back, deliberately stopping at the fitting room door and refusing to leave.
"Give me a kiss, and I'll do whatever you say."
He leaned closer, but Lu Qin ruthlessly dodged him: "I won't kiss you if you don't listen to me."
"I won't listen unless you kiss me."
"..." Lu Qin couldn't pull him away for a long time, and got a little annoyed, so she simply raised her leg to kick him.
Hao Jingshi reacted quickly, dodging the kick, but in doing so, he tumbled into the fitting room. He grabbed Lu Qin and pulled her in with him; the two of them stumbled and spun around.
He braced himself against the wall to steady himself, and clicked his tongue twice.
"How cruel you are, Madam, to commit such a heinous act."
Lu Qin rolled her eyes at him: "How could that be? I love my husband the most. My legs just went numb from standing."
As she spoke, she squatted down and slipped out from under Hao Jingshi's armpits like lightning.
Hao Jingshi anticipated her reaction and immediately turned around to block the side from which she emerged.
Without saying a word, he tried to force a kiss on Lu Qin, but he miscalculated the timing and bumped his head into Lu Qin's as she stood up, both of them stunned by the pain.
Lu Qin hissed as she covered her forehead, glared at him, and turned away angrily, circling around to avoid him, unmoved by any coaxing he gave her.
"Does it hurt?"
"lady?"
"What were you going to say to me just now?"
"You're the one who said you love me the most."
Hao Jingshi followed in circles, so flustered that he didn't know where to put his hands, so he raised them up as if in surrender.
"As long as you calm down, I'll do whatever you say. Now, I'll remove my makeup, okay?"
Lu Qin turned around abruptly: "You said it yourself."
Hao Jingshi nodded repeatedly, but looking at her cheerful appearance, he felt more and more uneasy. After thinking about it for a long time, he suddenly realized that he had been tricked again.
After removing his makeup, he couldn't help but pull her into his arms in a fit of anger and give her the failed kiss he had just attempted.
...
The next day.
Chang Le met up with Lu Qin early in the morning, disguised. She told Lu Qin that her father had already led his men to the restaurant, and that Zhang Gui, drunk, would immediately come forward to be arrested as a signal to smash the cup.
"I had to use a lot of persuasion to convince my father to come here." Chang Le clasped her hands together and prayed in front of her chest, "God, please bless us to succeed, otherwise my father will definitely scold me and send me back to the mansion."
Lu Qin patted her shoulder and said a few words of comfort to help her relax. Chang Le took a deep breath and began to adapt to her role as her silly younger brother.
She stuck out her tongue and stared for a while, then suddenly remembered something and beckoned to her maid, "Oh right, Aqin, I've brought you what you wanted."
Lu Qin turned her head at the sound and saw a maid bringing over an exquisite bronze wine pot. The pot was slender and full of carvings, with a red bead inlaid on the lid, clearly an expensive item.
"This is the Yin-Yang Pot." Chang Le took the pot and pointed to the bead on top of it, explaining to Lu Qin, "The red bead pointing upwards is the Yang side, and pointing downwards is the Yin side. Don't forget it when you get it wrong."
"good."
Lu Qin took the Yin-Yang pot, then went to the counter to take out the wine and sleeping potion she had prepared beforehand, poured them into the wine pot, and silently recited "Upper Yang Lower Yin Upper Yang Lower Yin" several times.
"There is no medicine on the sunny side, but there is medicine on the shady side. Remember that."
