The carriage slowly came to a stop. Su Qing looked at the stone statue of the man standing in the grass, and the entire dragon trembled slightly.
"What's wrong?"
The black sparrow inside the carriage noticed the carriage had stopped and couldn't help but stick its head out.
"Do you see that stone statue?"
Su Qing pointed to the stone statue of the man. The statue gave him a sense of crisis, as if it were something special.
It is indeed quite unusual for such a strange stone statue to stand in the middle of nowhere.
Black Sparrow looked in the direction Su Qing pointed, but looked completely bewildered: "What stone statue?"
Su Qing looked at her carefully. This woman wasn't pretending to be confused; she genuinely couldn't see the stone statue.
Immediately, Su Qing withdrew her arm: "It's nothing, maybe I was just seeing things!"
Su Qing continued driving the carriage forward. When they passed the stone statue, Su Qing took a closer look and realized that it did not seem to be a stone statue, but a person covered in dust and moss. He didn't know how long he had been standing there, and he was almost petrified.
Is this what they call an ascetic?
As they passed each other, Su Qing drove away in his carriage. Not long after, the stone statue opened its eyes, its pupils moved, searched around, and then slowly closed again.
He had just noticed someone passing by and was a little slow to react, but he figured the person wasn't very strong, otherwise it wouldn't have taken him so long to wake up.
Unaware of what was happening behind him, Su Qing continued to drive the carriage slowly.
"Let me go, and I'll tell you another secret!"
Black Sparrow couldn't help but speak again in the carriage, clearly having learned nothing from her previous experience.
"Okay, go ahead and tell me!"
Su Qing said casually.
"Then let me leave first, and I'll have someone send you this message after I leave!"
"That won't do. What if you change your mind?"
Su Qing resolutely refused.
Black Sparrow was exasperated. This was the problem she should be worried about!
The two fell silent again. It took them seven or eight days to cross the mountain range, and the carriage was much faster.
As Su Qing drove the carriage, she spread out a map and asked, "How's your butt? Does it still hurt? Should I go buy you some medicine?"
Despite the bumpy ride, Su Qing was fine, but Black Sparrow, who was sitting in the carriage, could only lie down.
My buttocks are swollen badly.
He muttered to himself, "What are these countries doing? Can't they learn from the Dragon King and fix their roads better?"
Hearing Su Qing's question, he was a little embarrassed and annoyed, but still gave a soft "hmm".
"At least this guy knows how to care about people!"
Su Qing nodded: "I also need to take care of something."
He put away the map, and the carriage suddenly turned. The sudden turn caught the girl in the carriage off guard, and she was flipped over from where she was lying down.
"You bastard, I'm going to kill you!"
Su Qing looked at the new teeth marks on her clothes and felt extremely helpless.
The carriage traveled for another half day before Su Qing arrived at her destination.
A magnificent and luxurious temple was built on flat land, surrounded by large expanses of clean and tidy green grass, clearly well-maintained. A wide cobblestone path led directly to the gate, where elegantly dressed noblemen and women came and went.
Su Qing parked the carriage and opened the curtain: "Alright, time to get off!"
Black Sparrow stepped out of the carriage, his gait somewhat awkward.
Where is this?
She had barely opened her mouth to ask a question when she saw the temple in the distance. She froze on the spot, and after a long while, she realized, "Temple, how dare you bring me here?"
Su Qing was also taken aback when she heard this: "What, do you have a grudge against the temple?"
"No!"
Black Sparrow said irritably, "How could a nobody like me be worthy of making enemies with such a top-tier power? I'm curious, how dare you come here? You're such a despicable, shameless, and vile guy, how dare you come to a place like this? Aren't you afraid of divine punishment?"
Su Qing ignored the woman's rambling and led her directly into the temple.
Inside the temple were many boys and girls dressed in white robes, who served as attendants, their expressions humble and respectful as they greeted the nobles who came and went.
Su Qing beckoned a little boy over and asked him to tell the old priest that a friend had come to visit and asked if he remembered the guy who had come to visit during the academy competition.
The boy ran away quickly, then ran back just as fast: "The old priest invites you!"
Su Qing wasn't too surprised and followed the boy to the old priest's room.
The kind and gentle old man was looking through a book when he noticed Su Qing enter. After looking her over carefully and confirming who she was, he quickly got up to greet her.
"My lord, it's been a long time!"
"It's been a long time, High Priest!"
They greeted each other warmly, exchanging pleasantries and quickly becoming friendly.
"Why would the lord suddenly come to my little place?"
After chatting for a while, the old priest got to the point.
"I was just passing by when I remembered the old high priest, so I came to pay him a visit."
Su Qing casually remarked, then pointed to the black sparrow, "I wonder if the old high priest has any medicine to reduce swelling?"
Only then did the old priest notice the girl who had been following Su Qing.
My gaze immediately fell on the swollen buttocks.
Of course, I only glanced at it before quickly looking away.
A strange look appeared on his aged face. After a long while, he looked at Su Qing with an extremely peculiar gaze.
Who is this?
Su Qing introduced her to the old priest: "This is my sister-in-law!"
The old priest opened his mouth, but in the end, his lips moved slightly, and he made a praying gesture: "May the gods bless you!"
Su Qing instructed two servants to take Black Sparrow away to apply medicine to its wounds, while he discussed serious matters with the old priest.
"I wonder how much the old priest knows about evil gods?"
Su Qing asked a question, and the old priest's expression immediately turned serious upon hearing his words.
"They are a bunch of despicable and evil bastards, vermin from the underground!"
Regardless of his true thoughts, this was the attitude he had to project as a temple priest.
He straightened his face and stared at Su Qing seriously: "Have you come into contact with the Church of Hell?"
"The Church of Hell?"
Su Qing asked in surprise, "What is that?"
I originally just wanted to inquire about the God of Greed, but I didn't expect to hear something even more interesting!
"Doesn't the lord know? Then don't ask any more questions. In short, those who know, know; those who don't, don't pry. Knowing too much isn't necessarily a good thing."
The old priest remained silent, clearly not intending to say anything more.
Su Qing remained silent, pondering briefly.
The Church of Hell—judging from its name, which is related to hell, is it a religion founded by an evil god?
After thinking for a moment, a smile appeared on his face: "Priest, why don't you tell me? That way, I can avoid you if we run into each other in the future."
The old priest hesitated for a moment, then sighed softly, "Then I will speak to the lord about it."
