The army of two thousand elite soldiers traveled for two days and arrived at a flatter area.
They were not far from the silver mine, and everyone was quite tired after traveling for so long.
Javi noticed the soldiers' exhaustion and knew that if they clashed with the enemy in this state, they would definitely suffer losses. He immediately said, "Why don't we let the soldiers rest for a while?"
"It's not too late to attack the silver mine after the soldiers have rested!"
Robert was anxious upon hearing this. He wanted to get his silver mine back as soon as possible, but he couldn't rush things too much.
The nominal commander, the 37th son of the old king of the Duchy of Carter, was just a teenager with no opinions of his own, and at this moment he just nodded hastily.
He was merely a symbolic leader, using the king's name to suppress the rebellious lords; the actual commanders of the armies were still the five lords themselves.
The order was quickly issued, and the soldiers cheered and began to rest.
Meanwhile, Li Ming led nearly a thousand men to ambush nearby, to the left of the enemy's rest area, in a place with concealed objects.
The two sides were far apart in terms of troop strength and personnel quality, and a head-on confrontation would definitely put them at a disadvantage. Therefore, Li Ming decided to catch them off guard.
He had already sent out many spies to monitor the enemy's movements and had laid an ambush here long ago.
Now that the enemy had started cooking, and smoke began to rise, and most of the food was almost ready, Li Ming gave the order to attack without hesitation.
"We're almost at the silver mine. I wonder how Marquis Robert plans to take it back?"
Javi spoke calmly, inquiring about the young Marquis Robert's insights and asking how he planned to attack the silver mine in order to minimize losses.
But little Robert clearly didn't take the enemy army seriously, and said nonchalantly, "Dragon Territory has a sparse population, with only a hundred or so guards on standby. Even if we recruit some farmers, there will only be a few hundred. With two thousand men, we should be able to take them down easily."
Having provided absolutely no useful information, Javi was utterly speechless. Just as he was about to speak again, his expression suddenly changed slightly; he sensed a fluctuation of magic.
The source is right beneath your feet; a magician has set up a spell here!
"careful!"
As soon as he uttered a fierce shout, before anyone could react, dozens of vines as thick as a child's waist shot up from the ground and began to strangle the crowd.
At the same time, thousands of people attacked from one side, and even though the two thousand soldiers were considered elite, they were thrown into a panic.
The five lords quickly mobilized their armies, dividing them into battle formations centered around themselves.
The situation has improved somewhat, but it is still far from optimistic. Those vines are incredibly strong, covered with sharp thorns that draw blood when grazed and cause injury when touched.
This resulted in significant losses for the 2,000-strong army.
Plant-based magic!
Javi frowned. He had no idea that the other party had a plant-type mage!
Between his palms, a staff inlaid with countless magical gems appeared, which he slammed heavily onto the ground while chanting a simplified spell.
Orange flames spread outwards from the staff as the center.
The flames seemed to possess a spirit; the soldiers only felt a slight heat, while the grass and trees beneath their feet were burned to ashes. The vines, naturally, were not spared either, and once touched by the flames, they quickly turned to ash.
Upon seeing this, Li Ming and the others who rushed out narrowed their eyes. Among the opposing group was a powerful mage, who seemed to be a fire mage and was extremely effective against Hillary.
Things don't seem to be going so well anymore!
The vines disappeared, and the five lords' allied forces quickly regained their composure and immediately launched a counterattack under the command of their respective lords.
The battle began, and Li Ming confronted the mage who used fire magic.
Only he can deal with this person; the others are simply not strong enough.
A sharp glint flashed in his eyes, and he drew his sword, unleashing a streak of snow-white light.
The best way for a knight to deal with a mage is to cut off the mage's head or split him in two before he can cast a spell.
But magicians often have their own defensive and self-protection techniques.
Javi remained calm, his eyes filled with disdain and contempt, perfectly embodying the arrogance of a magician.
Without dodging or avoiding, he let the blades slash at him, chanting incantations.
As the blade struck, a golden light flashed from his body, deflecting the attack. At the same time, a ball of flame appeared out of thin air on his staff, unfurling its body and transforming into a firebird, flapping its wings and charging towards Li Ming.
...
Hillary took a step back, and vines appeared beneath her feet, shooting out and sweeping towards her opponent who appeared in front of her.
It was a middle-aged woman, around forty years old, wearing light armor, with a robust build and a resolute and spirited square face. The heavy sword in her hand cut through the vines.
But soon several vines swept across, and at the same time, small purple flowers bloomed at one's feet, emitting a charming fragrance that was intoxicating.
The female knight seemed to be a veteran of many battles, and immediately noticed the unusual fragrance of the flowers. With a stomp of her feet, she shattered the small purple flowers with her battle aura.
A sharp edge flashed on the heavy sword in his hand, and he slashed at Hillary without mercy.
Plant-based mages are clearly better suited for attacking and controlling or supporting, and can only barely parry the ruthless knights at this moment.
...
The firebird on the other side swooped down at Li Ming, but was cleaved in two by Li Ming's blade. In the process, it also burned most of the remaining hair of his.
Touching his somewhat bald head, Li Ming gritted his teeth.
