Only the old man and the young boy, whom I had just met, remained in the exhibition hall, standing in the darkness.
Only Taro's eyes sparkled, seemingly with a hint of tension.
Yoruichi Toyama laughed again in the silence.
"Sir, didn't you promise to take me to visit the art museum?"
Director Ochiai paused for a moment, then chuckled.
The heavy footsteps of the armored figure reached the door, and then with a "click," the lights in the exhibition hall turned on.
Everything was bathed in light.
"I've been working here since this art museum was built."
Director Ochiai ignored Yoruichi Toyama's words and began to confide in herself.
“I know every piece in this collection well; they are like my children.”
"Then this armor..." Yoruichi Toyama suddenly asked.
Director Ochiai nodded and smiled knowingly.
"This is just a counterfeit."
"I would never destroy any of the artifacts; you might as well kill me first."
When he said the word "kill," Yoruichi Toyama noticed a subtle difference in his tone.
Before this, the old man had probably really made up his mind to kill someone.
But now...
"Sir, I came to see you overnight because I have something I want to tell you."
Yoruichi Toyama quickly relayed the news that the TV station was coming to film an interview program.
Director Ochiai's white eyebrows twitched.
"You mean... there's a chance the art museum might be saved?"
"I can't be sure, but since it was broadcast on TV and even featured a national star like Yoko Okino, the impact must be huge."
Yoruichi Toyama said in a factual manner.
"Yes, yes... at least there's hope, there's hope..."
Director Ochiai murmured and repeated it several times, then suddenly his body swayed, and his heavy armor made a creaking sound.
Yoruichi Toyama quickly helped the old man up and helped him take off his armor.
The two of them sat down on a bench in the rest area by the wall.
"So, Mr. Toyama went to work on this matter after we parted ways?"
The old man didn't think much of it before realizing the crux of the problem.
"After contacting the TV station, you rushed here overnight to find me?"
Why would someone go to such lengths for a complete stranger, someone they only met by chance?
Although he used questions throughout, the old man's tone contained no hint of accusation, but rather was filled with deep emotion.
"And just now..."
He was referring to the incident of someone dressed in medieval armor and impersonating a ghost knight in an art museum in the middle of the night.
This simply cannot be explained by common sense.
But telling the truth would be tantamount to revealing your murder plan.
Seeing the old man's hesitant expression, Yoruichi Toyama said with a smile, "I guess people who love art all have a few quirks."
"However, sir, it's rather dangerous for you to be wearing armor and scaring people in the middle of the night."
“Yes…” Director Ochiai nodded in agreement, his gaze deep.
"Mr. Toyama, you are right."
"This will never happen again."
"An art museum is a sacred place; it shouldn't be filled with gloomy ghost stories!"
