Chapter 101 Need not to know

Mr. Itsuki, who had been outmaneuvered by Hakuba Saguru, couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed.

He originally intended to mention, and also to boast about his extensive network of connections and how well he got his hands on people within the Metropolitan Police Department, which allowed him to obtain firsthand information.

However, how could he possibly bring up such genuine gossip in front of the Superintendent General's son?

Isn't that just trying to sow discord between the officer who gave you the information?

"What?" Hakuba Saguru said calmly, "Is it something that the 'privileged class' cannot hear, Mr. Itsuki?"

Mr. Itsuki froze abruptly, and finally couldn't help but slam his hand on the table.

"Fine, I'll say it!"

"In the past week, two detectives from the First Investigation Division have been shot dead, haven't they?"

"Shot... Shot dead?..." Kindaichi, who thought they were just watching the show, was dumbfounded.

"But Mr. Itsuki, ordinary people shouldn't have guns, right?"

Hajime-chan, who is quite experienced in murder cases, quickly recalled the incidents she had witnessed.

"Was it a modified gun used by civilians? Terrorists? Or... a crime committed by an insider within the police force?"

Before Mr. Itsuki could answer, Hakuba Saguru, who was standing next to him, had already nodded.

"This... Kindaichi, right? You're the grandson of the famous detective from the Taisho era, Kindaichi Kosuke?"

"I had heard of your deeds before, but I didn't expect you to be so perceptive."

What score? ...

Yoruichi Toyama listened quietly, but he couldn't shake the feeling that Hakuba Saguru's words were not well-intentioned.

I don't know what Hajime-chan did to offend him.

Kindaichi has always been very perceptive of the contempt shown by others, especially those who are more outstanding than himself.

Therefore, he immediately widened his eyes.

"What?! You look so arrogant! Just because you're the son of the Superintendent General of Police, does that make you so great?"

...To be honest, he's really remarkable; most people wouldn't dare to talk to him like that.

Mr. Itsuki, who had the most "corporate slave" vibe among the group, muttered a complaint before quickly trying to smooth things over.

"Well, Kindaichi was right after all. The police are now strictly controlling the information, and they are probably investigating it as a case committed by an insider."

"Then how did you find out about this?" Hakuba Saguru quickly pressed.

Mr. Itsuki stiffened again, then picked up his coffee and laughed heartily.

"As for me... haha, my information channels are not something I can tell outsiders."

"Since it's internal information, it must have been leaked from within." Kindaichi seemed to be picking a fight with Hakuba Saguru, saying sarcastically.

"Is it that your police officers are guilty and dare not disclose the truth of the incident to the public, or is it that your management is too lax?"

"Oh dear, look at the state of things. Your father, the Superintendent General of Police, can't escape responsibility either, can he?"

When it comes to making sarcastic remarks about others, Kindaichi is actually quite good at it.

I just don't know why I always lose to Yoruichi Toyama.

Then he unleashed a barrage of attacks on Hakuba Saguru, who was also a high school student but seemed much more composed.

However, Hakuba Saguru's expression did not change.

Yoruichi Toyama and Akemi, who hadn't spoken until now, exchanged a glance, then turned and went to the detective agency's cubicle inside, opening the door.

Hakuba Saguru followed knowingly, and only before closing the cubicle door did he turn his head to glance at Kindaichi outside.

"Hey, what kind of look is that?! You pretentious rich kid! Come out here and explain yourself!"

Hajime-chan, easily provoked, bared her teeth and brandished her claws outside the glass door, displaying impotent rage.

As a result, none of the people in the cubicle paid any attention to him.

Jin Tian had to stop shouting until his throat hurt, and after thinking for a moment, he dialed a cell phone.

"What's so great about it! I'll just call Uncle Kenmochi and find out!"

Mr. Itsuki's eyes flickered, as if he wanted to remind him of something, but seeing that he was already on the phone, he remained silent.

Kindaichi briefly explained his intention for making the call to Inspector Kenmochi.

"Ah, um..." Inspector Kenmochi's loud voice could be heard clearly even without speakerphone, "Excuse me, Kindaichi, that case isn't under the jurisdiction of our Seventh Division, so I..."

The insincerity in that tone was something that probably only Kindaichi could hear.

"But uncle, you must know some inside information, right? Mr. Itsuki is here too, maybe we can..."

Kindaichi wanted to try again, but the man opposite him suddenly coughed.

"Kindaichi, let me put it this way."

"Mud...mud's nao...what's the rest of it again?..."

Inspector Kenmochi was still muttering to himself when another voice came through the microphone.

"Kindaichi-kun, do you think Mr. Itsuki is with you?"

"Ah? Inspector Akechi, you're here too..."

“Give the phone to Mr. Itsuki,” Akechi said succinctly.

Kindaichi reluctantly handed the phone over, but then put his ear close to Mr. Itsuki, listening to the voice on the other end.

“Mr. Itsuki, what Kenmochi wanted to say just now, Kindaichi may not understand, but I think you definitely do.”

"Need not to know" is the only sentence we are currently allowed to answer.

"Therefore, we hope that Mr. Itsuki can cooperate with the police and stop making unfounded accusations."

Without any pleasantries, the call ended abruptly.

Completely bewildered, Kaneda looked up and saw Mr. Itsuki's rather horrified expression.

"Hello……"

He was stopped by Mr. Itsuki as soon as he opened his mouth.
