Chapter 118 Startling the Snake

Upon arrival at Honto Port, Amakusa's treasure hunt officially began.

Despite being unmoved by the gimmicks, Shiro Tendo, the tour guide, led the group to visit famous historical sites such as the Martyrs' Park and the Catholic Church.

His clear, youthful voice, coupled with his highly emotional narration, immediately captured the attention of the treasure-hunting team.

Hazuki Mogami listened with great emotion, nodding as she spoke, while Miyuki and Emily were both teary-eyed.

Only a good-for-nothing like Kindaichi and a guy like Yoruichi Toyama, who is naturally immune to Japanese history, could remain unmoved with a heart of stone.

Two people who never really got along suddenly let out huge yawns at the same time.

Kindaichi was immediately grabbed by the ear by Miyuki, the etiquette corrector next to him, and dragged to the seat closest to the tour guide.

"Hajime-chan! Pay attention and listen carefully!"

"Hey, what are you doing... This isn't school... Ouch, it hurts, let go!"

The daily antics of these childhood sweethearts brought Yoruichi Toyama back to her senses. Just as she was about to look around and pay attention to the important people, Akemi gently took her hand.

"It seems even the great detective has things he's not interested in."

The relaxed atmosphere, especially the novelty of being far from home, coupled with his girlfriend's smiling teasing...

It felt as if a string in Yoruichi Toyama's chest had been suddenly plucked.

The sweetness and warmth of being in an amusement park are back.

This seems like... a "date"...

Far from Tokyo, the epicenter of death, lies the idyllic Kyushu island...

Going on a date with the girl you love...

Yoruichi Toyama seemed to be turning into a boiler again, but then, on a whim, she abruptly changed the subject.

"Oh, right, where is Mr. Gao... Mao?"

No sooner had he finished speaking than Gao Yuan, who seemed to be out of the crowd, appeared beside him with a grin.

"What's wrong, Yuanshan? Aren't you being a little too concerned about me?"

"At a time like this, especially when you're on vacation, shouldn't you young people enjoy some quality time together?"

Hearing him nag in a tone that sounded like a mother, Yoruichi Toyama couldn't help but scoff.

"If there weren't those treacherous criminals in this world, I would certainly hope..."

Gao Yuan, with an exaggerated grin, chuckled loudly.

"Then you shouldn't just be focusing on me, right?"

"I've already said that I'm just here as a spectator."

"If you want me to believe you, you'd better be more honest," Yoruichi Toyama retorted bluntly.

"Just tell me everything you know and identify the guy who premeditated the murder."

"When I call the police, I'll put in a good word for you and help reduce your sentence by ten or eight days."

Gao Yuan raised his eyebrows, but his gaze turned to the crowd who were still listening to Tendo Shiro's explanation.

Seeing that no one was paying attention to his conversation with Yoruichi Toyama, he smiled and raised his index finger to his lips.

“I’m not going to say anything,” he said. “Murderers and premeditated murderers are in cahoots.”

“I’m already waiting for him to walk in from hell.”

"I wonder if Detective Toyama, this saint of justice, can save him?"

Yoruichi Toyama had given up on this person's occasional childish and immature remarks.

Of course, it's not really necessary for him to identify the premeditated murderer.

Having already obtained spoilers, Yoruichi Toyama was confident that she could keep a close eye on "that person" and prevent him from using any of his tricks.

As for Gao Yuan...

We'll just have to leave him here to watch the show for now.

...

The rest of the journey was rather unremarkable.

Someone like Yoruichi Toyama has no religious beliefs, so he only visits churches and temples as buildings.

Unfortunately, Hazuki Mogami lingered in these places the longest, looking quite interested.

Mr. Itsuki was probably interested as well, but since his arch-rival had shown it, he deliberately acted indifferent, making sarcastic remarks wherever he went.

Surprisingly, some people actually agreed with these strange remarks.

“Mr. Itsuki is right. I also think that you can’t find treasure in tourist attractions like this,” said Kinuyo Nakata, who calls herself a “treasure hunting expert.”

That's probably what she thought too, but Mogami Hazuki, who lingered at the historical site for a while due to personal interest, immediately raised her eyebrows.

“I’m sorry to say that,” she retorted sharply. “Unlike some people who hope to get rich by digging for treasure, I have a regular job and I can make a living. I don’t have any more extravagant desires.”

"So I've only ever been curious about the treasure, and I've overlooked the more utilitarian purpose. I guess I was too narrow-minded."

This incident also dragged Akamon Hideaki, who had dropped out of school to search for treasure, into the mess. The group split into two factions, arguing back and forth endlessly.

As the organizer and team leader, Wada wore an awkward smile and tried his best to smooth things over.

The argument grew louder and louder, attracting the attention of many children playing nearby.

The older child at the front mustered up his courage and walked into the group of tourists.

"Excuse me, uncles and aunts, are you here to find Amakusa Shiro's treasure?"

There was no disagreement on the answer to this question; even Hazuki Mogami, who claimed to be driven only by curiosity, was naturally eager to find that legendary treasure.
