Chapter 158 The Oriole, the Oriole, the Oriole Behind

Not long after, the detectives who had left returned.

This includes the grand scheme of Da Shang Zhu Shan, who used cooking as an excuse to plot against others.

Kaito Kuroba, not seeing Oogami Kisuke in the kitchen, glanced at Yoruichi Toyama, who quietly waved her hand to indicate that it was alright.

With internal and external coordination, the situation is now under control.

After confirming with Da Shang Zhu Shan, the maid led everyone into the restaurant.

The door opened to reveal a dining table with a clean white tablecloth, neatly arranged bowls and plates, and an elegant setting.

A figure was already seated at the head of the long table.

The person didn't speak or show his face. He was wearing a pointed hood like the ones worn by the KKK, with two holes cut out for his eyes.

However, no matter how Yoruichi Toyama looked at it, it didn't seem like there was a pair of eyes in the cave.

The crowd was shocked by the man's bizarre appearance and stopped at the restaurant entrance, not daring to go in.

"Oh dear, we're a minute early!" the maid Ishihara muttered under her breath, biting her finger.

An awkward silence lasted for a short while, then a voice suddenly rang out.

"Detectives, distinguished ladies and gentlemen!"

Welcome to the Twilight Mansion!

"Please take your seats according to the nameplates on the table."

Upon closer inspection, there was indeed a nameplate next to each set of tableware.

Da Shang Zhu Shan and the others sat down in their seats as instructed.

However, in everyone's eyes, Yoruichi Toyama and Kaito Kuroba are "Akami" and "Yoruichi Toyama," and together with Saguru Hakuba, the three of them still stand by the dining table with somewhat ambiguous smiles.

"Hey, you guys..." Kogoro had just opened his mouth when he was nudged by Haruji Mogi next to him.

Indeed, in such a formally decorated restaurant, it would be quite a mood killer to say something that breaks the formality.

The problem is, aren't these three people even more of a spoilsport?

Kogoro thought to himself.

Oogami Shuzen and Senma Kazuyo simultaneously turned their heads, gesturing with their eyes for the three of them to quickly take their seats.

Yoruichi Toyama and the others grinned and pretended not to see anything.

After a brief pause, the voice from the head of the table sounded again.

"I have invited you all here today to ask for your assistance in finding the treasure hidden in the Twilight Mansion..."

"Hey, old man!" Kaito Kuroba called out rather rudely, "We're starving, can we eat first?"

"...to solve this mystery from decades ago."

The master's voice didn't even pause, nor did it respond to Kuroba Kaito's words; he just kept talking to himself.

Even the most oblivious person, like Kogoro, realized something was wrong.

Yoruichi Toyama walked to the front of the table with a smile and patted the cat in his arms.

Taro lunged forward and ripped off the hood of the figure in the main seat.

A human head shape with a megaphone embedded in it was exposed to the crowd.

Everyone stood up in surprise, staring at the mannequin.

“You’re all renowned detectives,” Kaito Kuroba said with a sneer. “Didn’t you realize that this isn’t a living person at all?”

The question is, who would doubt that a talking humanoid figure isn't a living person?

The detectives, who were justifying themselves in this way, also realized that they had been blinded by their preconceived notions.

Moreover, the restaurant's formal decor and requirement for everyone to sit according to their name tags reinforces etiquette and subtly discourages people from making rash moves.

"Is it possible..." Gunda Ikumi's words were interrupted halfway by the voice coming from the doll's head.

"Well then, everyone? That's a huge treasure! If you help me solve the mystery, there will definitely be a generous reward..."

"Alright..."

Ikumi Gunta's original intention was to find out if the owner of the villa was hiding in the shadows and using a microphone to communicate with everyone.

Hakuba Saguru unceremoniously grabbed the loudspeaker and pulled out the small tape recorder inside.

“We’re like monkeys in a zoo, being played like fools!” Harufumi Mogi said indignantly.

“However…” someone seemed to say.

"Do you promise?" The tape recorder, still running, continued, "I guarantee it with my life!"

The voice sounded very resolute, and Da Shang Zhu Shan let out a scream.

"No... Ah!...Wh-what...sound..."

He exaggeratedly shrank back and covered his ears, but after a while, he raised his head again in a daze.

The people around him looked at him like he was an idiot.

"Mr. Oogami, what sound did you hear?" Harufumi Mogi asked with concern.

But the expression on his face seemed to say, "How did you get so scared?"

"No...no...no sound...?" Da Shang Zhu Shan was clearly surprised and stammered.

"You mean the sound of an explosion?" Yoruichi Toyama asked with a smile.

"I'm afraid that won't happen!"

The person who answered that question was not anyone in the restaurant.

Instead, it was a guy who had somehow appeared at the doorway, leaning against the doorframe and trying to look cool.

Short blond hair, dark skin, a tall young man under 30.

He was also holding a flat, round box in his hand.

Upon seeing the box, both Daikami Shuzen and Senma Kazuyo's expressions changed.

"Amuro?" Kogoro exclaimed in surprise, looking at his apprentice. "How did you get in here?"

A single question has already revealed a lot.

Not only did the two conspirators cast unfriendly glances at them, but Mogi Harufumi and Gunta Ikumi also seemed to look at them with newfound respect.

It turns out that this seemingly unreliable middle-aged man had someone waiting for him outside beforehand.
