Chapter 199 The Final Battle Part Three

The place where Karasuma Renya is now hiding is both unexpected and yet perfectly logical.

It is also a place that many people are quite familiar with.

Twilight Mansion, deep in the mountains of Tottori Prefecture.

That was the property of the Karasuma family back then, and also the place where Karasuma Renya's greed began.

Vermouth reapplied the injuries she had sustained during her last operation, making her look slightly disheveled, but it didn't affect her overall image.

Then we drove into the mountains and arrived at the Twilight Mansion.

Large flocks of crows perched on the towering roof of the villa. When they saw her, their bright red eyes turned to her, and they let out a hoarse, noisy cawing.

Against the backdrop of the crimson sunset behind the Twilight Mansion, the cry sounded especially mournful.

Vermouth stepped forward and pushed the door open, but the door opened slowly without touching her hand.

Inside the door was a tall, dark-skinned figure, clearly not Karasuma Renya.

"I am……"

Just as Vermouth was about to introduce herself, the figure stepped aside and closed the door again after she slipped inside.

"Come with me."

It was a deep, male voice, as rough and hoarse as the crows outside, yet it carried a strange sense of familiarity.

Vermouth followed behind him, observing his limping figure, and suddenly cried out, "Ah!"

"You...you are..."

Because of the strange appearance of the person in front of her, she couldn't help but want to laugh, but she was also terrified by the resurrection of the dead and broke out in a cold sweat.

The man stopped walking with his back to her and turned half of his face away.

That was indeed Gin's sharply defined profile, his eyes flashing with a cold light, and his voice cold and gloomy.

“It’s me,” Gin said.

"I crawled out of the underworld."

...

There's a reason why Vermouth didn't recognize Gin immediately.

The man in front of me wasn't wearing a black trench coat or a hat. His hairstyle was less of a buzz cut and more of stubble that had just grown back after his hair had been shaved off.

His short, silver stubble clung to his scalp, making him look like an old monk.

Where is even a trace of the former elegance and grace?

Vermouth never dreamed that Gin would appear in public so unconcerned about his image.

Judging from his expression, he didn't seem to care, as if he had truly seen through the illusions of the world.

“Come with me,” he said again. “I will take you to see that sir.”

He still addressed Karasuma Renya by that name, as was his old habit.

But when he went upstairs, his limping gait was something Vermouth couldn't bear to watch.

"Your legs..."

“It was Shuichi Akai’s bullet.” Gin straightened up on the stairs with his good leg, but even so, he didn’t reach for the handrail.

Instead, he placed his hands between his ribs.

"There's one here too."

Vermouth knew why his voice was much hoarseer than usual.

However, he was incredibly lucky. He was shot in the lung and calf, and it is said that he fell into the sea from the cliff and managed to escape the Self-Defense Forces' search.

Gin also turned his head and glanced at it.

"You seem to be quite lucky."

“Yes!” Vermouth seized the opportunity to cover her bandaged arm and gave a wry smile. “It seems that God has given us a chance.”

“Opportunity… ah…” Gin murmured, repeating himself, then started walking again, until he reached the door of the living room upstairs.

The door opened.

Vermouth cautiously entered and found a figure standing in the already lit hall.

A slightly short, thin figure.

When he turned his head, you could see that his face had obvious Western features.

He had high brow bones and a high nose bridge, a long and sharp nose tip, deep-set eyes, and well-defined facial features, with a sickly pale complexion.

He looked like a boy of no more than eighteen or nineteen, but the gloom between his brows exceeded his apparent age.

“Chris,” he said, looking at the absinthe, in a shrill voice, “you’re back.”

"It seems you, like Gin, are one of God's last favorites."

"It's mine too."

Vermouth had no choice but to bow her head to him, as if to bow or to hide the emotions in her eyes.

"Yes, Grandpa."

...

Ten years ago, Atsushi Miyano and Elena Miyano developed a second-generation drug based on the first-generation APTX4869.

It can help people regain their youthful appearance while avoiding the severe side effects of the first-generation drugs.

Karasuma Renya was about to reach the age of 130, not far from the Guinness World Record for human longevity.

So this time he didn't wait for others to test the drug; he took it himself after animal experiments confirmed its efficacy.

Thus, they successfully reversed their aging process...and became young again.

The ability of drug A to restore a person to the juvenile state of a 7- or 8-year-old was established in that generation.

But compared to Shinichi Kudo, who was taking the third-generation drug, Renya Karasuma was actually much more unfortunate.

Although the third-generation A drug is highly toxic and its users have a very low chance of dying, Shinichi Kudo, a chosen one of this world, not only survived but his brain was not affected by the rejuvenation process.

It's what's called "the body may have shrunk, but the mind remains just as sharp."

His memory, cognitive abilities, emotional and expressive abilities, etc., have not regressed to those of a child, but have remained at their original level.

The biggest failure of second-generation drugs is their adverse effects on the brain.

Not only did Karasuma Renya's body shrink, but his mind also became that of a 7-year-old child.

His memories remain, as do the knowledge and experience he has accumulated throughout his life, but with his immature brain, he can hardly understand those things at all.
