Chapter 71: Not a Crime of Passion

The strange noise coming from the back of the theater went almost unnoticed by anyone when the movie was in full swing.

But then came an angry shout.

"Let me go! Let me go! I'm going to kill him! He deserves to die!..."

The sounds echoed and reverberated with Gomera's roar on the screen, seemingly in response.

The audience, who were focused on watching the movie, finally turned around, but couldn't see anything clearly.

"Mr. Amuro!" a voice called out, "Go turn on the lights in the theater, or we probably won't be able to watch the movie."

Recognizing that it was Yoruichi Toyama's voice, Tooru Amuro promptly ran to turn on the lights.

Only after the lights came on did everyone understand why he had said, "We can't watch the movie."

In the aisle behind the last row of seats in the theater, a burly man was being pinned to the ground by Yoruichi Toyama, struggling desperately.

"It's the projectionist!" the children exclaimed as they saw the burly man's face contorted with anger.

The projectionist, Guqiao, grumbled under his breath while gripping the rope tightly in his hand.

The other end of the rope was tied into a loop and placed around Zhang Tian's neck, who was sitting in the chair.

Fortunately, the rope loop wasn't tightened.

Zhang Tian didn't even have time to take the rope off; he was just gasping for breath, clutching his neck in shock.

"Who...who exactly are you? Are you with that thug?"

Yoruichi Toyama, who was pressed down on the ancient bridge, sighed.

"Mr. Furuhashi, please calm down..."

In this situation, such words obviously have no effect.

Catching his breath, Zhang Tian suddenly yelled "Wow!" and pointed at the angry-looking ancient bridge.

"He...he's trying to kill me! He's a murderer! Call the police! Call the police!"

Because of the commotion in the theater, the owner of the Muramatsu store, who was also watching a movie, and the girl at the beverage station who had just bought a bento box also came over, looking at their colleague who was attempting to kill with surprise.

Amuro Tooru, who was already aware of the situation, quietly closed the theater doors again after turning on the lights.

Yoruichi Toyama looked up and exchanged a serious look with him.

The matter isn't a huge issue, but it's not insignificant either; it's probably impossible to avoid involving the police.

Leaving Akemi and Shiho at the scene like everyone else would likely draw less attention.

"Boss, let's call the police." Toyama Yoruichi said, letting go and standing up, then helping up the old bridge she had knocked down.

Under these circumstances, Gu Qiao naturally couldn't take any further action.

Mr. Muramatsu seemed to be still somewhat hesitant.

This is probably one of the reasons why Zhang Tianhui has been causing trouble at this movie theater so much, and why Gu Qiao is so eager to get rid of him.

With that in mind, Yoruichi Toyama dialed the Metropolitan Police Department's number herself.

"Hello, is this Inspector Megure?"

...

The call was made to Inspector Megure, but he was reportedly unavailable due to other matters. Instead, several other officers from the Third Division of the First Investigation Department arrived.

The person leading the team was Inspector Shiratori, whom they had met briefly at the unsuccessful wedding of Matsumoto's daughter.

Sato and Takagi not only frequently interacted with Yoruichi Toyama, but were also clearly old acquaintances of the Junior Detective League, greeting each other warmly upon meeting.

The shop owner and the young lady at the beverage station named Yuri Yuriko explained the incident to Officer Shiratori.

Before he could finish speaking, Zhang Tian rushed forward, shouting, "This is murder! This old bridge, he tried to kill me! Why aren't you police arresting him!"

"What murder!" Miss Yuriko immediately retorted, "It's because you're so annoying. Furuhashi only acted impulsively... Anyway, I've wanted to beat you up for a long time!"

This statement was clearly intended to lessen the blame for Furuhashi, but Mr. Muramatsu remained silent. Just as Furuhashi was about to speak, Yuriko interrupted him again.

"Officer, you should investigate this person! He has repeatedly come to our cinema to cause trouble and has driven away the audience!"

"The same thing happened today, and these audience members here can testify to that!"

Upon hearing this, the children of the Junior Detective League immediately responded enthusiastically.

"Yes, yes, we all saw it!"

"That guy keeps smoking, making this place smoky and unpleasant!"

"He even cursed the boss as his grandfather!"

"Officer, take him away!"

Under the bright, warm light, Zhang Tian's face turned a dark green.

"You little brats, what nonsense are you spouting!"

"Now I'm the one being attacked, and I'm almost killed!"

"Then you're not dead yet, are you?" A cold voice drifted over; it belonged to the little girl with short brown hair standing on the other side.

"But it is an indisputable fact that you disrupted public order and smoked in a non-smoking area, affecting others."

"Look, there are cigarette butts next to your seat."

While Zhang Tian was speechless, Toyama Yoruichi coughed helplessly.

This Ms. Shiho seems to have a strong urge to make sarcastic remarks.

I don't know if she's like her older sister, or if she's been corrupted by some puppeteer these past few days.

"Alright, no matter what, it's a fact that you two fought each other in public."

"Take them to the nearby police station to be punished."

Officer Shiratori waved his hand dismissively, as if brushing away the most controversial point in this messy incident.

Mr. Muramatsu and Yuriko both breathed a sigh of relief.

Zhang Tian wanted to defend himself, but no one present spoke up for him, so he had to suffer in silence.

"Wait a minute, Officer Shiratori!"
