"The other person took out a device that looked like a card reader and handed it to me, but it was completely different from the ones we had seen before."
"After the other person handed me 'An Introduction to Elemental Magic,' the book magically disappeared into the air, and the whole book was stuffed into my brain."
"I can still remember all the contents of it clearly now."
Herman's face was filled with disbelief.
If someone else had told him this, he certainly wouldn't have believed it.
Lawrence and he had grown up together since childhood, and Herman couldn't tell from the other's expression that he was joking at all.
Lawrence seemed to sense Herman's confusion and continued, "The reason I agreed to work with you on KOLs is..."
"It's entirely for my own protection. After learning magic through 'Elemental Magic: A Beginner', I need an identity to protect myself."
"Can magic defeat guns?" Lawrence asked.
Herman was still in a daze. He shook his head and said, "No."
Lawrence then asked, "With magic, can I do whatever I want and rebel against the government?"
Herman continued to shake his head: "Then that's even more impossible."
Lawrence nodded and said, "Yes, that's why if I become an influential KOL."
"So even if my identity as a mage is exposed in the future, I won't be in any danger because of my KOL status."
Herman waved his hand: "Let me think about it."
After five minutes of silence in the room, Herman asked, "Why didn't you buy more books about magic?"
After thinking for a moment, Lawrence replied, "I don't know. I didn't ask any more questions and then left the 'bookstore'."
Herman asked doubtfully, "This is not like you. You should have asked the old mage if he accepted disciples and asked if you wanted to become his disciple."
Herman was well aware of Lawrence's obsession with magic, and Lawrence asked in confusion, "Yes."
Herman then asked, "You've been with me these past few days, how could you have time to go to the convenience store alone at night?"
"You know I'm the kind of sleeper who will wake up as soon as I hear you open or close the door."
"Could you have learned magic in your dreams?"
Lawrence shook his head and said, "No, you can't be that clear in a dream."
"Moreover, the book 'Introduction to Elemental Magic' is clearly in my mind."
Herman countered, "Time? What exactly was the time you left?"
After thinking for a moment, Lawrence said, "I don't remember the exact time, I only remember it was at night and it was very dark."
Herman then asked, "You just mentioned that the moonlight shone entirely on the shops along the street, which is what drew you inside, right?"
"But it's been cloudy in London for the past few days, and there's no moon at all."
Lawrence was stunned.
Hermann continued, "Check your bank account transaction history. Do you see any 500 euros transferred to that person?"
Lawrence frantically grabbed his phone and started checking his transaction history. After checking, he sat blankly on the bed.
Herman comforted him, "I know you really want to become a mage, but sometimes you shouldn't be too fixated on it."
"Being too fixated on things can make it hard to distinguish between dreams and reality."
"Even the most vivid dream is still a dream."
Herman tried to comfort his friend.
He has always been clear-headed and has his own epistemology on many things.
In Herman's view, magic was too advanced for him to be a thing of the sort.
As for his friend, Herman admitted that Lawrence had some talent, but compared to Zheng Li, a mage well-known on Earth, his talent was insignificant.
At their age, Zheng Li had already founded Kechuang Biotechnology, which was valued at over 10 billion US dollars.
With Zheng Li as a reference point, Herman thought that their desire to master magic was somewhat unattainable.
After Herman finished speaking, Lawrence didn't say anything more. He simply stretched out his hand, stared at his fingertips, and uttered a spell.
Herman saw a fleeting flash of light on Lawrence's fingertips.
Although the flames were only present for a short time, traces of their presence were clearly visible.
Herman quickly moved closer and sniffed the air around Lawrence's fingers.
The smell of burning was faint, yet distinct.
Now it was Hermann's turn to question his existence. He sat down blankly, next to Lawrence:
"You've learned magic?"
"Yes."
"how long?"
Just yesterday.
"Basic fire magic?"
"That's right."
"Elemental Magic Explained? Does this book really exist?"
"Yes"
"So you met a mage in your dream who taught you magic?"
"I always felt that it wasn't a dream; dreams wouldn't be that clear."
But now it seems that it really was a dream.
So he probably taught me in a dream.
"Now that you've become a mage, are you ready to embark on a fantastical journey?"
Lawrence was bewildered. "They didn't tell me where the magical world is or how to get into it."
Herman replied, "Now that you have your ticket, the magical world will open its doors to you sooner or later."
Lawrence continued, "All I remember is that before I left the bookstore, the mage seemed to remember something."
He concluded by saying that if you want to improve your strength, remember to find a wand that suits you.
When I looked back at him, he raised an eyebrow at me, as if to suggest that the wand was important.
"Warner Bros. just scheduled a meeting with me for 9 a.m. tomorrow at the Harry Potter film set in the suburbs of London."
