Chapter 391 Not a Single One Can Fight

"Since Merlin took office last year, Singapore has been the focus of the world's attention."

Whether it's government-related artificial intelligence, the release of artificial intelligence programming languages, or the bio-silicon-based chips being built throughout Singapore.

We can see that, under Merlin's leadership, Lion City has a clear technological advantage over Earth.

My personal guess is that for Malaysia, giving up some insignificant land in exchange for an opportunity to improve relations with Singapore is a very worthwhile thing to do.

Johor is considered one of the slower-growing states in Malaysia, even with its close trade ties with Singapore.

For Malaysia, selling a piece of land in Johor that is unlikely to be developed now or in the future, and which has no mineral resources, to Singapore is not a loss for Malaysia.

As long as Merlin does not show any further demand for land, it is perfectly acceptable for Malaysia.

As for why during my time in power, we had ongoing disputes over an island and a port.

Because during my time in power, Malaysia did not expect to gain any additional benefits from Singapore, unlike during Merrin's time in office.

Whether they compromise or not, Singapore will still purchase the basic resources it needs to buy from Malaysia.

It's not like Singapore will refuse to buy Malaysian freshwater just because of a conflict between Malaysia and Singapore.

Li's explanation was somewhat reserved.

In fact, he could guess what Merlin had given to Malaysia as a bargaining chip; he had heard of the longevity potion.

But this is just speculation; he has no evidence.

Even if he had evidence, he wouldn't dare to reveal it.

Furthermore, during his previous administration, Malaysia and Singapore would not budge an inch on even the slightest territorial dispute.

Another reason is that Lee had shown his intention to annex Malaysia when he was in power.

Malaysia is worried that if it makes concessions on land, Singapore will take advantage of the situation.

This is a common phenomenon in geopolitics, with numerous similar cases from ancient times to the modern era.

"Mr. Li, there is another question I would like to ask you. Singapore has been in a state of anarchy, or rather, an artificial intelligence government, for quite some time now."

You have been living in Singapore for the past six months. How do you view these changes in Singapore?

Do you think it's benign or malignant?

After a moment's pause, Li replied:

"Actually, I have mentioned this issue to varying degrees on various TV programs recently."

And recently I've come across some new insights that I'd like to share with you all.

There is no doubt that artificial intelligence is far superior to humans in handling almost all government services, both in terms of efficiency and accuracy.

Previously, even with Singapore's efficiency, the entire process of registering a company, from submitting the relevant registration documents to obtaining the registration certificate issued by ARC, took a whole day.

I asked my friend about the time; it's five minutes.

As long as the information you provide is accurate, the registration certificate will be issued in five minutes.

Not only is there a qualitative leap in efficiency, but in terms of accuracy, computer processing will definitely be much more accurate than human processing.

From this perspective, it undoubtedly saves time, as everything can be done at once on a mobile app or PC webpage.

Another reason is to save costs, as the salaries of all civil servants in Singapore represent a significant expense.

This expense was then completely saved and could be distributed as national welfare to everyone.

As you've probably all noticed lately, the government is giving out money to people all the time.

Furthermore, since all government services have become electronic and online, there is no need for physical government offices or government service centers to exist.

I also saw these buildings; they were for sale.

In terms of cost, it also saves a lot of money.

However, I have a few opposing thoughts. Without Merlin's technological advantages, how can we develop similar government service-oriented AI manually, and what kind of hardware infrastructure is required for AI?

The combined costs of these factors are unlikely to be much lower than relying on human labor to maintain government operations.

Of course, this is just my speculation; a professional could calculate the cost.

Therefore, the cost advantage comes from the technology that Merlin gave to Singapore for free.

For other countries, this system may not be as compatible as they imagine.

Because I saw in the news that the Nordic countries also want to do this, I don't think they may be able to achieve the same effect as Singapore.

Another point is that I've been thinking about a question: Over the past seventy years, Singapore has built itself into a developed country with the financial and service industries as its pillar industries by relying on high salaries to prevent corruption and a service-oriented government.

Artificial intelligence has already substantially taken over government services. If Merlin opens up the use of artificial intelligence in the future, the financial industry and other service industries will be replaced by artificial intelligence to some extent.

In this case, the government will cover all the unemployment problems, but there will still be people who need to work.

How can we strike a good balance between these two approaches?

Of course, there are solutions to this problem, because many developed countries have encountered similar issues before Singapore. We can learn from their experiences and explore solutions that are suitable for Singapore.

Furthermore, with the large-scale adoption of artificial intelligence in the service and financial industries, the warmth of human-to-human communication will disappear.
